w0w, thanks, already did my dusting, clean air filters etc. it's a full size desktop (atx) w/the r-9 and an older 5670 hd. the older unit runs nice and cool, even with inside temps often over 100oF. i guess that's the problem, but even if i remove the side panel it doesn't seem to help much. the 280x has been running for two years at ~80ish+o
Connect a thermal peltier to the rear side of the card to help cool it. If your case is good enough you can use it to spread the heat from the warm side of the peltier. You could also remove the case completely and mount the set up to the side of your desk. That reduced my Tempsford on the 290trix by 15 degrees ^^very interesting idea!

loose the --benchmark, add (optional) --no-submit-stale --gpu-threads 2 --scan-time 2 --queue 0 ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) fwiw i'm running @ -I 4 and ~90 o C TY m8. 90 oC even we have middle of winter it's unacceptable temp. It's more profitable to mine ETH and buy DCR from exchange. What GPUs are you using? With 280X i am having 72C with 25C ambient temperature hey badam, i'm using a 280x also, underclocked, undervolted, intensity = 1 atm, and 86 oC atm. honestly stumped as to what else to try, could you share your cli? @ It's funny how people still recommend using --no-submit-stale - I'm starting to think it's to sabotage new miners lol - i did say it was optional ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

Interesting. I got the Windows wallet working and transferred my coins. I am not sure who bought $800 worth this past week causing the price to rise but it wasn't me. I guess I have to wait for a while for the coins to mature before trying mining THC or HMP.
PoS isn't working, so maturity has no meaning, but The Hemp Coin is mineable with cpu or gpu ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

How many DCR you get per 280x and 290x?
depends on difficulty, 3 to 4 dcr max per 24 hour i think. Im mining with one amd 7970 total 1.3 gh/s and able to collect 3 dcr average in 24 hours ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Could you or anyone point me to a mining guide? I got a 7970 too and i'd like to mine some DCR, are there any pools? the miner software from the OP https://github.com/decred/cgminer/releasespools here https://dcr.suprnova.cchttps://pool.mn/dcrmake sure you have a recent driver for the gpu and install amd sdk to run cgminer. good luck!

OK, I'm full of flu and thick headed and need some guidance.
I want to mine decred, but can't get it going.
Is there a step by step guide anywhere, because I haven't even figured out how to get a wallet address?
I have run the dcrwallet .exe with the --create command and got my generation seed and I've forwarded the relevant ports.
Now what?
Windows 7 64 bit.
theres many guides on the site but honestly dude? mine to bleutrade addy then just wait for a proper gui wallet, we may get one in next few days ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) or mine on pools..at least you are getting coins while figuring something out, that's what I'm doing right now ya exactly. i had my auto-withdraw disabled on pool till i had the wallet running ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) just stacked the coins there ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) then best u have a strong pswd on your acct ![Cool](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cool.gif)

Can someone please provide some nodes? We have 0 connections. If we cannot get the blockchain moving, we will be disabling the wallet and delisting the market.
Thanks, richie@bittrex

^^mine looks similar ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) i think it 's because they gave it credit on the chart for being 1 satoshi value. (as oposed to so many litoshi, dotshi...) in other news the wallet at the Gslots site seems to be empty

well, the link quoted in my last post above should get you started. software levels are ~beta everywhere, have to get used to it ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) general idea is to use the cmd prompt or a .bat file to start the miner and learn to secure and backup the wallet dive in on testnet, you'll be ready next week when it starts for real ![Cool](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cool.gif) He just provides some links, there is no easy tutorial how to set up minig, i havent mined before. His post is for advanced users not beginners. follow the link again, click on [GPU Mining], plenty of info in there to get you going, if you have more questions, post in here ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

some ideas on making backups, ... first- make one right there in the roaming folder. create a new folder, copy the .dat into it. it may come in handy, but since it's on the 'c' drive, don't ever count on it being there when you need it. if you have only one hdd on your p00tr, consider these options - if there is a 'backup/restore' partition with some free space and you can access it, you can encrypt some space there and use it, but remember that if the physical drive dies, so does your backup. doing this will give you a local copy that's safe from typical attacks -create a mult - session CD or DVD (do not 'finalize' the disc) - those little SD cards that come with digital cameras and such can be useful here if you have a card reader/writer - flash sticks work well! - if you have a LAN and other computers in the house, make a small encrypted space on one or a few of them - hdd docks are fairly inexpensive and let you plug n play internal style hdds - export your privkey to paper/metal/stone, etc. and/or encrypted/cold text or even .jpeg, .png ... file -use winrar or 7zip to create a password protected archive - create an encrypted vhd on your computer, archive your .dats on it, copy it to your cell phone's flash card if you have no other option. always use strong password - format that old dell/hp dinosaur and install ubuntu, encrypt the /home drive (an installation option) and have fun learning to use a safe and secure (and free) OS
