721  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Nano Ledger S Horizontal Line Screen Issue on: April 29, 2023, 11:29:56 AM
Anyone had this happened?
You can buy a replacement screen but is it hard to replace it?  Anyone done this?  And this is for sure a screen issue?
That second situation would mean it's not the screen?  Or it may or may not be the screen?
- The screen is definitely the culprit: e.g. Ledger Nano S Lines of Dead Pixels on Screen
- It's not that hard to replace its screen, but depending on your tools and skills, you might face some difficulties: Ledger Nano S Oled Screen Replacement

No way they send me a replacement right since they done it once already?
There's no harm in asking!

Should i not touch or plug in the nano s into my laptop until i get a new one?  Since doing that might mean the nano ledger might not even power on anymore?
I failed to see any connection between the above two.

Also have the seed with me but not 100%.
Where is the rest?

So based on that, get a new nano ledger s or x right?  Since if you buy a replacement screen and something messes up, then it isn't good?
You've got to be kidding me... After what you've experienced from using their product, you're thinking about buying another one from Ledger! Why?
- You mentioned earlier you can still send your bitcoins to another address, so do that if you're worried replacing the screen might turn your Nano S into a worthless piece of a stick!
722  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Warning]: Another Fake Sinbad Mixer on: April 28, 2023, 07:22:34 PM
And when you click that link, you will be redirected to:

https://i.imgur.com/ZYOdqEw.png
It'd be better if you didn't crop out the URL part of your browser to clearly show they're a rip-off of "sinbad.io".
- The fake one also included the original Onion site of Sinbad in their header area!

This criminals are cloning every mixer know since the closure of CM.
Exactly and they'll continue to do so unless we manage to take their fake websites down [unfortunately, only a few users tend to spend some time to report, and in a lot of cases, a single report wouldn't be enough]:

Great catch by the way Wink
723  Local / Pamilihan / Re: Coins.ph Official Thread on: April 28, 2023, 05:40:55 PM
724  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: 32 Hardware Wallets, compared feature by feature on: April 27, 2023, 04:04:09 PM
BREAKING NEWS
I deprecated the Google Spreadsheet and launched a new website comparing 32 Hardware Wallets:
Great move Wink

Few suggestions:
- A modular design to allow us to remove unwanted rows [browser-side].
- Highlight the row and the column that our mouse pointer is currently hovering at [useful when multiple hardware wallets are selected].
- A dark mode.

But for the Mobile display, it seems that it is not fully compatible and needs a little improvement so that the mobile-specific display is more precise and suitable for mobile users.
Until a better version comes, you might want to enable the "desktop site" mode on your mobile browser [it improves it a little bit].
725  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: NEW Bitcoin Lightning Marketplace on: April 27, 2023, 01:45:01 PM
If you any questions let me know.
  • Considering that you abandoned your previous project [bitsuuq] in its early stages, how can you assure your potential users this new marketplace is not going to suffer the same fate?
  • I noticed you've mentioned "scam protection" as one of its features, but after reading the rules, I'm still not convinced if there are enough preventive measures!
726  Other / Meta / Re: Opinion/Recommendation: Autosave of drafts on the forum on: April 27, 2023, 11:30:26 AM
I seriously doubt we will ever see something like that. Even on that new forum that's been in developmen for God knows how many years.
It's worth noting that Epochtalk already comes with an autosave feature for drafts and it works flawlessly... You can try it on "Coinbistro [it doesn't have a dedicated draft page so when you try to post something, you'll be greeted with a pop-up notification that asks if you want to load the draft]".

@EarnOnVictor
- I think our best bet would be to hope for someone like @PowerGlove to release an SMF patch that @theymos approves.
727  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Advanced Paper Wallet on: April 26, 2023, 04:32:37 PM
After some research I found out that they have a special device that creates and prints the private keys and instantly seals them. This way avoids that (mostly) anyone can track the private key during the creation process.
Did your research lead to definite proof that this so-called "special device" exists or it's limited to what they've written on their FAQ page?
- I'm still not entirely convinced after reading the FAQ and entropy pages...

For me it is good enough to use card wallet to give medium amounts of Bitcoin away to family and friends.
Personally, I'd go with the traditional way of sending them fractions of Bitcoin [if they don't have an address or have limited knowledge of it, giving these kinds of gifts wouldn't be a great idea].

since I can not do a backup of the card wallet. This means in case of fire ore any other desaster the coins would be lost.
For this reason my wish would be that you could buy two wallets that do hold the same private keys, so you could store them in different locations.
But that still doesn't solve the issue in question... By engraving it on a metal plate, you can have more protection against those things.
728  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Nano Ledger S Plus discount code? on: April 26, 2023, 01:44:23 PM
Are any available?
I checked them on multiple platforms and it appears that there's no ongoing promo that provides a discount code.
- It's worth noting that there isn't a secret place for such things, so if you can't find anything, it probably doesn't exist!

Also if so, any safety issue using one from a random?
It depends... If it's hidden behind a button that you have to click so it'd reveal the code, "YES", it's a risky move but if it explicitly mentions the code, I don't think something bad can happen by typing it into the discount code field of Ledger.

Saw these codes posted on reddit years ago.
Then it's safe to say that all of them are already expired.

Update: Changed can into can't!
729  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Re: SIM Registration: Anong Dapat Ipag-alala? on: April 26, 2023, 10:04:13 AM

To be fair, nung una palang lumabas ang SIM card registration law, binanggit na nila yung possibility na magkaroon ng extension up to 120 days at sa huli, pinili nilang iextend ito for another 90 days.
730  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] bitcoindata.science on: April 26, 2023, 07:09:49 AM
Do you guys see any use for an API like this?

Code:
https://bitcoindata.science/api/addressbalance.php?address=3CrySAp8G1PfvjrYT4HPQhE8MouBKWd9WB&currency=PHP

There's definitely a use for it, but it'd probably be used on a smaller scale in contrast to the previous one... The first thing that comes to my mind is donation campaigns [e.g. this or this], and then some of the games in the games and rounds sub-board [it can also be used on the collectibles sub-board for special cases].
- Now I'm jealous (I wish I knew how to do such things as well) Smiley
731  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Electrum not opening on: April 25, 2023, 07:11:56 PM
I just want to ask if anyone here has experienced where their Electrum wallet doesn't open from time to time, I mean, you can see the Electrum icon on Task Manager but the program doesn't open.
Did it happen after updating the app while it's still pinned to the taskbar, by any chance? If the answer to that is "YES", then I've been experiencing the exact same thing in the past few months after I downgraded from Windows 11...

  • My way of dealing with the issue: Unpin it from the taskbar > Click the Electrum icon on the desktop > Pin it again.
732  Local / Pamilihan / Re: Coins.ph Official Thread on: April 25, 2023, 06:28:32 PM
Ok, I has posted a few days ago regarding dun sa enhancement nila including new Bitcoin address, pag check ko kanina meron na nga at implemented na to.

https://i.imgur.com/JATSaUa.png

733  Local / Pamilihan / Re: [Table] Withdrawal Fees at Withdrawal Amounts sa Crypto Casinos on: April 25, 2023, 05:08:47 PM
Maraming salamat dito bro.

734  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Ano nga ba ang Layer 1 at Layer 2 Blockchain? on: April 24, 2023, 04:28:29 PM

Out of curiosity, meron ba ditong gumagamit ng lightning network regularly?
735  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Central African Republic drops Bitcoin as Legal Tender on: April 24, 2023, 01:27:10 PM
• What percentage of people in CAR use Bitcoin and how many active services use the Bitcoin payment feature.
• Central African Republic should really review the people who use Bitcoin and how useful Bitcoin is for the people there, before adopting and payment methods.
You do have a point, but that's where it gets tricky... Since we're talking about a poor country, I'm going to assume most of them would prefer to keep a low profile due to various reasons [e.g. risk of theft, taxes and etc...].

Of course, it's going to be built on tokens that, well, are not selling! And what incentive you will have as an investor?
~Snipped~
Useless citizenship, a promise of zero tax on gains that will never be there, and some more vaporware.
No wonder why it hasn't succeeded yet [SMH].
BTW, great find Wink

If not why would they drop bitcoin from being used as a legal tender asset???
If I were to guess, I'd say it probably had something to do with how clearly it highlighted their stupidity.
736  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Foundation Passport Official Thread on: April 24, 2023, 11:26:01 AM
3. Very odd! We have seen this very infrequently coming from the lockscreen and are working on a fix, but you see it also coming just from multitasking in other apps?
Yes, I also experienced it while I was multitasking yesterday, but no matter how hard I tried to reproduce it today, it didn't recur [a bit strange] so it must be connected to the other rare issue that you mentioned...

  • If possible, could you record this happening and share details on your OS (as much as you're comfortable with) in an email to hello@foundationdevices.com? We'd love to help you get to the bottom of it, and your help would make it a faster process  Smiley
Sure... I'll do it as soon as it happens again, but until then, all I can share is the details of my OS [Android 13 (One UI 5.1)] Smiley

While I was using it with the "Testnet earlier", I noticed we can only copy the transaction ID, but not see the other details [I'm not sure if this is also part of the roadmap or not].
BTW, a customized fee option (apart from the Standard and Boost options) would be nice as well.
737  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Foundation Passport Official Thread on: April 23, 2023, 03:21:44 PM
@foundationdvcs
Here are a few notes for using the beta version for a few minutes, as someone who doesn't own a Passport device [yet]:

  • It'd be nice to have a list of used/unused addresses in conjunction with the ability to sign a message directly from the app.
  • Support for other address types [e.g. Taproot would be nice].
  • I noticed going back and forth between Envoy and any other app would result in a black screen that sometimes lasts around 30 seconds!
738  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Live Update? on: April 23, 2023, 01:00:04 PM
Still using ledger live 2.5.1.
Ledger live is 2.55.
Any issues with the updated one?  Haven't updated it in months.  Anyone here use old not updated ledger live?
I'm not a LL user, but it's worth noting that the latest version is actually 2.57.0: LEDGER LIVE DOWNLOAD SIGNATURES
- You always have the option to downgrade from the above link, so just update your LL to the latest one!

739  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Re: SIM Registration: Anong Dapat Ipag-alala? on: April 23, 2023, 12:07:43 PM

Kasi di'ba, paano nalang yung mga magkkaaron palang nf bagong sim card at/o cellphone after April 26? Di'ba? LOL.
If I were to guess, I'd say magiging similar ito sa reactivation process...

740  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Show off your hardware wallet on: April 23, 2023, 10:54:02 AM
All I can remember is it came from Germany and is a USB stick of some sort, with a page of directions written in German. Another eBay find years back.
Perhaps there's a logo or something on the direction page that could help us trace it back to its origin...

Edit : damn, can’t find shit on crypto guard via google either.
I did manage to find an inactive crypto-related website with that name, but it used to sell one of those metal backup plates [I couldn't find an earlier archive version from the time you purchased it, but perhaps they were selling such things in the past]:

  • MyCryptoGuard.com [it's being redirected from CryptoGuard.me and they seemed to be from Switzerland and AFAIK, German is one of its official languages (does any of these websites ring any bells?)]

I have a “master list” thread here buried in collectibles sub, it was for all things collectibles and one of my lists on is hardware wallets.  I think my list was up to 40-50 links to different wallets.
Unfortunately, it doesn't mention anything about Crypto Guard: Collectibles/Wallets/NFTs/News- Master Website List
