1721  Local / Pamilihan / Re: Looking for Cryptocurrency Online Store in the Philippines on: December 23, 2021, 08:18:56 AM
E-currency online store that can pays out with Perfect Money or Bitcoin.
Based on the content in your "previous thread", you're indirectly looking for a way to launder your dirty money [feel free to prove me wrong]!

Note to other Filipino users:
Don't feed useful information to such users [gagamitin lang nila yan para sa masamang bagay]!

New batch2 devices will probably have this new logo, and they explained new mission they have in their latest blog post.
Regardless of the story behind their new logo, personally, I prefer the previous one more...

  • While I was reading through the same blog post, the following part caught my attention:

It appears they'll be adding support for Taproot soon:

As someone who pays a certain shop a few times in a year, to send faxes on my behalf, such services will certainly come in handy but I'd like to ask a couple of questions:

1724  Local / Pamilihan / Re: Coins.ph Official Thread on: December 22, 2021, 12:40:49 PM

1725  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Kiwicoinex.com is scam or not? on: December 22, 2021, 10:41:12 AM
Day by day, until finally we swap photos. And then make video call.
~Snipped~
I really can't believe this. You know, we share photos each other and make video call.
Normally, they'd refuse to make a video call, but regardless of that, I would suggest doing a reverse image search on the photos in question [you can also post them here (if you don't know how to do it)].

And she literally real and beautiful. hahaha
Take a deep breath and try to "not" think with your other head Wink

I think the victim is not only me. So, please report the domain.
Seeing that somehow FMA was able to force NameCheap to take down the other similar domain, then I would suggest reporting it to them instead; NameCheap has been ignoring such reports in the past few months.

1726  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Anyone with a Strike account can get their salary converted into Bitcoin on: December 22, 2021, 05:15:15 AM
Yeah, the availability is limited, but you can always sign up for the global wait list here:

https://global.strike.me
Thank you for the link, but since I'm currently residing in a country that's been heavily affected by the US sanctions and Strike is a U.S.-based company, then unless that situation drastically changes, I have zero chance of using such things [unfortunately].
- Based on how U.S.-based companies usually expand their services, the next one in the line should probably be the UK or European countries.

Since most of the comments are about hardware wallets, I'm going to suggest the following thread to newcomers: Attack vectors for Hardware Wallets

Buying a hardware wallet is really worth it.
~Snipped~
I suggest ledger since I have no experience with the other two.
Back in the day, maybe but I don't think it's worth getting any of the current Ledger's lineup:

1728  Economy / Reputation / Re: did this dude try to bribe me, or am i being paranoid? on: December 21, 2021, 05:05:48 PM
am i being paranoid, or was this user just baiting DT members with a small denomination only to guilt them into giving him positive trust?
Judging by his/her account stats and its overall history, I'm going to rule out the DT part, but the latter part stays because he/she kept coming back to persuade you into giving positive feedback!
- Probably came from another forum that users tend to easily give out such ratings, but regardless of that, if he/she doesn't stop, IMO it deserves negative feedback.
1729  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Kiwicoinex.com is scam or not? on: December 21, 2021, 10:48:55 AM
which I get a lot about KIWICOIN exchange from new zealand, but not about Kiwicoinex.com from japan.
Despite Using Japanese by default, they did mention being "regulated by NZ FSP while using the exact registration number from Kiwi-Coin [clearly, a rip-off]":

I just had an almost got scammed with someone in china pretend to be a friendly girl and pushing me to invest in that site.
Am I correct in assuming it was one of those Tinder/romance scams?

Because, i can't find anything about that site. So i created this threads
Just last week, FMA released a warning about a similar website: Cryptocurrency trading without consent - Warning about kiwi-ex.com website
- That website is already down, but if you check the "archived version", it's the exact copy of the Kiwicoinex.com [they're probably connected]!
1730  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: No..China Does NOT Have 0% of the Hashrate on: December 21, 2021, 06:34:07 AM
This goes to show you there is absolutely nothing anyone/anything can do to keep people from participating in our decentralized network.
You have a point, but eventually, it'll get close to the number shown in the subject field [if everything remains the same, it's inevitable]... FYI, I'm not referring to issues concerning "dry season", instead I'm talking about the huge risk that it has when it comes to not getting caught [on the last article, Ben mentioned he got lucky once before... In other words, all it takes to stop such operations is a single unexpected visit, as opposed to a phone call].
1731  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Anyone with a Strike account can get their salary converted into Bitcoin on: December 21, 2021, 04:31:23 AM
If you have a Strike account you can do that as well, with no extra fees.
Well, that's the problem... It's limited to those in the US [with the exception of a couple of states] and El Salvador [unfortunately]!

Does anyone actually knows what's going on here?
~Snipped~
Or just probably that they're sacrificing revenue for growth for now.
When "Coinbase" introduced a similar thing back in September, they did mention partnering with certain companies and I assume it's the same thing with Strike [I don't think they're sacrificing anything "from their end"].
1732  Economy / Goods / Re: Kobe Bryant Signed NBA Rookie Trading Card on: December 20, 2021, 05:09:34 PM
Since then, the cards never had been touched again and are still in their transparent box in order to keep them in great conditions.
Based on your description, it seems they've not been graded, am I right? It would've been better if you could've included some pics [preferably with your "forum name and the date on a piece of paper"] as well...
- You forgot to mention the prices and if you're willing to hire an escrow provider [except me] for selling them!

While you're at it, you might want to move this thread to the "Collectibles" board instead [it might help with the sale].
- Move button is in the bottom left corner of the page.
1733  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Bearer crypto card - Comparison table on: December 20, 2021, 03:40:03 PM
- Do you know any other vendor with such product ?
I quickly went over the "[BIG LIST] Hardware wallets (80+)" and managed to find a few more hardware wallets with that form factor:
Note: I prefer to not vouch for any of the following hardware wallets.

- Regarding Tangem, it does support ETH addresses. How about ERC20 tokens ? Is is supported ? Or not ? No info on the FAQ regarding ERC20 support.
It does support them, but only the "popular" ones:

Update:
~Snipped~
You're very welcome... My bad [sorry] for considering their form only, but I've edited the list and crossed out the ones I think belong to a different category.
1734  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BBCODES AND HTML (similarities and differences||questions) on: December 19, 2021, 03:39:59 PM
I don’t want some of the link I click to make me leave the forum, but all the link always take me out of the forum by not opening in a new tab. Any help?
Just use the "scroll wheel/middle button" instead... There was a security issue, so theymos had to remove or rather, alter its behavior: Links no longer open in a new window/tab
1735  Local / Pamilihan / Re: Coins.ph Official Thread on: December 19, 2021, 12:14:03 PM
Tuwing may valid enty tayo, nagpapadala sila ng notifications through email pero ang catch is, after dalawang business days pa natin matatangap yun [source]!
- For some reason, hindi fully automated yung notification system nila [medyo weird].

Note: I forgot who was the mod that was using a bot to search for certain keywords to nuke newbies, but if you're reading this, it appears that someone is using this forum to reroute some of its traffic to their own "NSFW" websites:

  • In addition to both of the above users, the following users are indirectly promoting their NSFW websites [listed on the URL part of their profiles] with a bunch of worthless [or copy/paste] posts:
1737  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Tokpie exchange - unethical and blackmailing way of doing business on: December 18, 2021, 02:50:19 PM
User CryptorClub paid them for their services listing on CoinGecko,
I don't get why certain people, pay for something that's free while also not doing a little research about the platforms they're planning to get listed on:

they respond by pure blackmail. threatening that they too will launch a negative campaign against his project if the accusation is not dropped.
I wouldn't be surprised if that so-called exchange platform, is being controlled by a bunch of teenagers!

SMH Huh

Apparently, they made a mistake by taking money from a trash project,
I think they clearly knew what they were getting themselves into but decided to accept it anyway [another red flag].

This makes me think if coingecko is even verifying the team's authenticity and/or what methods are they using cause it has to be more than running a reverse image search since there are easy workarounds to get off the radar.
Based on the above screenshot, I don't think they're even doing a "simple reverse image search"!
- Unfortunately, we had a few other platforms before who had similar behaviors as well.
1738  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Xi, Putin wants Bitcoin without wanting Bitcoin on: December 18, 2021, 10:10:53 AM
It’s stupidity, Russia would need to trust China, and China would need to trust Russia. That’s a vulnerability.
Exactly! Their so-called plan is doomed to fail.

The question must always be  asked again, “How long should the protocol run to convince them”?
For as long as it takes to replace the current set of people who have prominent positions in those countries and even if that happens, there's still "a big if [especially for Russia]"!

establish some level of trust to benefit both sides.
Normally, that'd work but we're dealing with two countries that both either want full control or the better end of the deal.
1739  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Nano S Plus on: December 18, 2021, 08:23:15 AM
The gap on top/below each lines is rather big, those gap size could be reduced to fit 4 lines though.
Exactly... The same goes for the noticeable gaps beside the left and right arrows [those gaps almost don't exist on the Nano X, hence why it could fit more characters on each line].

Screen does look cheap but that is nothing new and I wrote before that you can order new display for regular Nano S from China for just few dollars, I don't think that this display is much more expensive.
If it's possible to replace its screen with one that supports a slightly higher resolution, then that might actually work [without having to wait for the Ledger to make some adjustments on its firmware].

It appears like there is only 3 lines of text like you say, but maybe there will be more characters that can fit the whole address...so let's wait and see.
Judging by the image you've posted the other day, I counted 14 characters for the Nano S Plus, whereas on the Nano X is 18 characters.
- A reduced font size might do the trick as well.
1740  Economy / Economics / Re: Why Fixed Supply Tokens Can't Become True Currencies on: December 17, 2021, 04:36:52 PM
the crypto community itself are preventing fixed supply tokens from becoming true currencies.
~Snipped~
almost every Bitcoin HODLer views BTC as a speculative asset, whether we want to admit it or not.
It's a good thing the writer of that article mentioned "hodlers"... They don't define how the whole crypto community thinks and acts!

Aside from the unlucky soul who spent 10,000 Bitcoins on two pizzas, Bitcoin hasn’t been used as a means of exchange.
Whoever was responsible for writing that part, probably spent the majority of the past decade, living under the rock!

In the long term, Bitcoin will become a deflationary asset as its coins are lost in locked wallets or destroyed (either accidentally or deliberately).

These similarities mean that we could eventually be in a situation where there is simply not enough BTC to meet market demand, even if we decide to use Satoshis (a fraction of a Bitcoin) as the primary means of trade.
A couple of things:

  • None of us will be around when [or if] it happens [around 2140].
  • As @odolvlobo pointed out, there's also millisatoshis and if for some reason, that's still not enough, I'm sure the developers will figure out a way to deal with that matter!

It is possible that some form of cryptocurrency may become a mainstream medium of exchange. However, it will need to be one that governments feel they can trust. It will likely be built as an inflationary instrument, albeit one with a fixed form of inflation.
Let me guess... CBDCs?! Yeah, right!
