801  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Just-Dice.com : Invest in 1% House Edge Dice Game on: September 16, 2014, 01:15:20 PM
For the gambler provably fair only means you have a tool to verify your bets. If they were skipping nonces, changing server seeds, etc you would still be cheated. Only if you check all your bets, you can find out that you were (or not) cheated.

For the investor there is no way at all to verify anything. In theory it is very easy for the owner to fake a winning whale with the server seeds (or just small winners .. every day.) I actually started a discussion about that https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=774458 "Provably fair for investors?", but the only solutions so far are not really provably fair, just slightly less risk.

Thanks, this is an interesting, and I think, more pressing problem.

Attempts to cheat the gamblers are always detectable, whereas attempts to cheat the investors are not. If whoever inserted the dicebitco.in skipping code had simply stolen the server seed and cheated more subtly, we'd be no wiser today and simply wondering about the string of bad luck.

It would be interesting to look at the Bitcoin gambling sites that allow investment and look at the return on investment : is it always less than the expected return?
802  Other / Archival / Re: Updated Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns on: September 16, 2014, 01:12:24 PM
Yah, I agree about the campaigns that seem to be dropping like flies.  I think that if PD closes their campaign, I'll prolly just stop wearing a sig-ad.  That'll be cleaner anyway.  And I don't want to advertize anything unless the pay rate is good.  For me, 0.1 per month is too low to worry about.

0.1 btc is too low to post in this forum
, remember this is only a  "plus"  .Your posting in this forum is "free"  Grin , so I think 0,1 btc at month is very very good Wink .

Your message seems self-contradictory.  You say both that it's too low and that it's very very good?

Anyway, let me emphasize that I wan't saying that I would stop posting on this forum.  I was saying I would stop wearing a signature ad while posting on this forum.

it is a question not an affirmation  << 0.1 btc is too low to post in this forum ? >>  Sorry I've missed the { ?? }  Grin .

I would keep posting, but I would have to find a new sig campaign. Spending 48 hours a month on here is quite a bit to be paid nothing for, so I probably only post on here not as much, although I am addicted already. If there was zero campaigns open, I would just add my ref link in my primedice, I post a lot on here so I probably could get some referrals.

It is very hard to get referrals since most bitcoin gamblers are already registered on PD and there are many PD links on signatures

But if you catch a few regular players you can get a nice reward
803  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bought my first 0.1 BTC on: September 15, 2014, 07:58:23 PM
I remember my first 0,1 btc, it was a great goal in my crypto-life, now I aim to 1 btc before the end of 2014.

Was it three years ago? Grin It was probably a month or two ago and you "remember it" Shocked

Good luck on your goal of having 1BTC

Probably it was a few months ago. Three years ago you could get 1 btc daily from a faucet  Cheesy

When you say nostalgically "I remember when..." you usually talk about something that happened a rather long time ago
804  Economy / Securities / Re: [dicenow.com] btc/ltc casino - 10,000 rolls per click - play/invest - multi edge on: September 15, 2014, 07:57:11 PM
So dicenow is still cruising with a few problems but PD (signature) remains the biggest in the market

Tried dicenow and liked it
805  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Here is how to make a brain wallet 100 times more secure. on: September 15, 2014, 07:55:33 PM
If you are storing the salt, why not just store the private key in the first place?

Also, lest someone get the idea to do this without a salt, sha256 does NOT add any entropy, it only makes the result LOOK more random. If someone found out, or just assumed, that people were using sha256 to hash brain wallet passwords, they could brute force your wallet (they might try to brute force all wallets at the same time) by running each attempt through sha256.

Quote
I have a way that is better, but if I told you then everybody would know!

If publishing your method would weaken it, then it is probably not secure to begin with. Security through obscurity is rarely a good idea.

If you say the method you use you weaken at least a little bit your security

Let's say someone from your entourage is trying to sc.am you if you said online that you had a password on a piece of paper at home + a simple password he can get the simple password from you and steal the piece of paper that you have at home

If you didn't say anything and no one knew you had a brain wallet it is safer but the coins will be lost if you die or lose your mind
806  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: I have 3 Million USD to invest into Crypto Currency - How should I do it? on: September 15, 2014, 07:52:07 PM
If I had $3million to blow, either I'd buy BTC out right or invest in COIN, the upcoming ETF by the Winklevii:

http://www.investopedia.com/articles/investing/041114/why-winklevoss-twins-new-bitcoin-etf-matters.asp

Should be interesting to see how it affects Bitcoin and the markets once it finally launches.

If the Winklevii buy new coins it should mostly push the price up
807  Economy / Gambling / Re: What is the best bitcoin casino? on: September 15, 2014, 07:50:28 PM
Well, it's either DiceBitco.in or MoneyPot. I really like them (even though they aren't casino's). DiceBitco.in has a great support team and the chat is nice. MoneyPot is something different and the owner is an amazing guy. It's hard to choose between them, hahaha.

The situation had changed rapidly in just days. Dicebitco.in has been caught cheating just days after and has locked its thread...

People play on satodice, PD and some on ninja now
808  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Just-Dice.com : Invest in 1% House Edge Dice Game on: September 15, 2014, 07:49:49 PM
So after the Dicebitcoin fiasco, it's time to post this again:

Exinvestors, have you found any other good investment in bitcoins?

It's really sad that the government has stopped such a brilliant idea.

I'm currently enjoying dice.ninja (yes, .ninja is a valid top level domain!) but after how my recommendation of dicebitco.in turned out I'm a little worried about recommending anywhere else.

I was about 24-48 hours from putting a lot of coin on that site before busto based almost entirely on your recommendation. Dodged a really sick bullet there but I still would have loved you anyway.

d.ninja is still up!?
PD is getting stronger; it needs competition Wink

I hate to say it because its based on zero facts but I'm really hesitant to invest under that site operator. Hopefully all goes well and then perhaps later I'll consider it although the dream is still dooglus moving to a fancy vacation house in Fiji and setting up operations there so I have a place to unload.

dicebitco seem to have cheated (they say it is the result of the actions of a single employee and they didn't know), they kind of reimbursed and could have left with the whole bankroll
PD you can play but not invest
d.ninja is new...
809  Economy / Gambling / Re: Listing Betting Sites Total # Of Bets ++Dice INVEST Sites Daily Repot Here+ on: September 15, 2014, 07:47:17 PM
A lot of news recently on casino bitcoins, maybe you could also have a section "big news in bitcoin casino" and talk about cheating ect.
810  Economy / Gambling / Re: Top 10 Bitcoin Gambling sites...so far on: September 15, 2014, 07:46:23 PM
In the top 10 I would put PrimeDice without any doubt, they say "the premier gambling experience" and that's the truth!  Grin

There is an other thread, more recent and updated here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=529963.0 from omahap

PD is first

0.1 seems pretty low but better than nothing

A Bitcoin business could become huge throwing a huge sig campaign here and paying well

Wow it is incredible! How big had they become? You would think they would have made more if they stayed honest but it was more "risky"
813  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: I have 3 Million USD to invest into Crypto Currency - How should I do it? on: September 15, 2014, 12:13:12 PM
I don't believe a man who has gained 3M USD would ask an advice about investments on forum Grin

I second that motion

You can get 3m$ and not know how to invest, most people who have money don't know how to invest properly; doing your due diligence by asking questions and getting informations is actually one of the proper way to invest your money

Most people making hundreds of thousands a year in banks don't really know how to invest

I'd like to apply. My PD username is r477

E: I didn't set a password and now I can't login. So, my PD username is r478
I'm bumping this in case you already boosted my account..
Nothing happened yet. This thing still in operation?

Was boosted a week ago

Still no referred users though

Cloudbet - Closed

Confirmed, posted by Cloudbet himself:

"Cloudbet Signature Campaign will end on September 16"
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=609557.msg8823561#msg8823561

Time for me to search for a new campaign.

The 10-20% on revenue from PD is available and not listed here : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=745779.0
817  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 15, 2014, 12:06:56 PM
whilst Huobi/Stamp were dumping someone kept buying up all the coins under 480 on Finex. There's actually less coins to 3,000 on Huobi now than few hrs ago when price was higher and same goes for Bitfinex + $500

even just as i type this the guy on bitfinex buys all coins under 480 again, he's picking up a fair few coins

It is how a market works; some buy and some sell Wink

There are a lot of buyers and new comers with money; for exemple Bitcoin believers who get an inheritance or an unexpected amount of money will buy a lot of bitcoins
818  Economy / Services / Re: [PrimeDice] [Highest Paid Signature] Earn Bitcoins Simply By Posting on: September 15, 2014, 12:03:41 PM
Yeah, I don't see the logic in keeping people who are only active on PD (and that would take some time to verify who is who and is active or not). He needs people active on here to advertise; posting or gambling on PD is irrelevant.

You are correct but posting in gambling sections about PD is very relevant

if Stunna close this campaign
it become a major loss  Cry

How many alts you got on this campaign?  Cheesy. It would be a massive loss to the community I think, but nothing lasts forever. Places to get on campaigns will be like golddust if this one stops. It's already pretty hard to get a place on them. Whatever he decides is out of everyone's hands, though.

An upcoming Bitcoin casino would have a huge opportunity to create a nice signature campaign on the forum and steal the first position to PD
With dicebitcoin down, primedice now has the spotlight again. The sad thing is there are NO other campaigns like dicebitcoin and primedice, max for my senior member would be around 0.1.

0.1 if you find a place in the campaign and if PD closes there will be a lot of Senior + members available

Let's hope a Bitcoin casino or other business will seize the opportunity and offer a nice payday for advertising

Put it in a savings account and live off the interest... #Yolo

And when the dollar in inflated and loses 99% of its value (again!) you will end up with almost no value

Better to invest in inflation edged investments such as precious metals, ressource compagnies, Bitcoin, or Swiss Franc
