801  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin XT - Officially #REKT (also goes for BIP101 fraud) on: November 17, 2015, 06:05:55 PM
Guys, it's almost 2016, no one cares about XT. Also, Gmaxwell is doing solid progress with the sidechains, it's comming soon.. LN will follow after. I think we still have margin. And make no mistake I still want bigger blocks, but not on a fixed increase based on a fairy tale (no one knows if 8 mb increases every 8 years make sense because we can't predict the future).
802  Other / Off-topic / Re: 2016, The Year of Bitcoin? on: November 17, 2015, 05:54:10 PM
I think in 2016 great things awaits us, but I hope the price doesn't explode. We need more time to get more BTC. Think about it, if the price goes up, say goodbye to making 1 BTC relatively easy, it will be mission impossible.
803  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Number of Bitcoin videos on youtube hold onto the table! on: November 17, 2015, 05:17:00 PM
Yep it was really bad with that Tested video. The channel has a pretty big following, that video will hit 1 million views soon. Let's just hope that they do an updated version in the future. Those ATM Bitcoin machines are hell... way too much security measures and control, it looks creepy specially the hand scan part.
804  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why do people still send BTC to the genesis block address? on: November 16, 2015, 02:46:05 AM
Oh I get it. And yeah I don't think anyone that is realistic about it thinks any of those BTC will ever move at this point. Sending BTC there: you can discount that from the total supply of 21 million coins basically.
805  Other / Meta / Re: Legendary one day? on: November 16, 2015, 02:41:47 AM
Do other factors affect the chance or is it just luck?

I think it is only affected by "luck". There is a random number (generated on registration?) for everyone. In order to know it, you must keep on posting for a few months. Well you "are guaranteed to become Legendary somewhere between 775 and 1030 activity". So 1030/7 = 147.1 weeks. So it is you are guaranteed to become a Legendary after 147.1 weeks of posting.

But Legendary didn't exist for years.. so how did those people that registered before Legendary existed get Legendary then? it cant be registration i think (or maybe it was an unused number or something)
806  Other / Meta / Re: Legendary one day? on: November 16, 2015, 02:23:40 AM
Hey, will there be a (virtual) party when folks in this thread get their legenary status? I'd like to join :-)
Now that the forum has grown so old that many early members attain legendary status, there probably should be higher ranks for the really old farts!

Onkel Paul

Getting to Legendary status is still hell tho, it takes years of consistent posting, few will be this dedicated, this is why it's very valuable. I think there should be a new and ultimate status after 9999 activity points, you become "God" status. And by then, we'll all be rich by holding 21+ BTC.
807  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and the fashion industry. on: November 16, 2015, 02:15:02 AM
I think its a positive idea, the logo of Bitcoin is very slick and cool looking so could be put on clothes in a nice way. Maybe when I become rich in 10 years holding BTC I may wear a nice BTC shirt, right now I think i cant pull it off lol.
808  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why in some countries Bitcoin is banned on: November 16, 2015, 01:20:30 AM
BItcoin works anonymously which create two problems:
1. Bitcoin transaction is untraceble which make it heaven for criminals (as government think).
2. As governement can't track who get funds they can't get tax on those transactions.
There may be other reasons too.

But no any countries can't stop or shut down bitcoin network so that banned is only on doing exchange of bitcoin to local currency what i know till now.

Even tho its true that no country can effectively ban Bitcoin and nodes will keep existing and the network working, it would be a devastating hit towards mainstream adoption, because the average joe still pays attention to the mainstream media.
809  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin XT - Officially #REKT (also goes for BIP101 fraud) on: November 16, 2015, 01:18:50 AM
I miss gmaxwell as nullc on reddit he was a great guy and even replied to me a couple of times with some basic questions about multisig, even tho im a noob when it comes to the technical aspect he was nice to answer. Anyway I hope he ever comes back at least on reddit because as far as I know he has left now from... pretty much everywhere (except here on this forum).
810  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Your first bitcoins came from.. (faucets aside) on: November 16, 2015, 01:15:02 AM
my first coin is dogecoin.
from cointellect  Grin

so i exchage it to bitcoin at cex.io
A lot of people will always ahve fond memories of Dogecoin. Thanks to DOGE, i know a lot of people that made their first BTC because they had a lot when it was cheap to mine, and sold them at 200 satoshi each.
811  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Why do people still send BTC to the genesis block address? on: November 16, 2015, 01:13:58 AM
https://blockchain.info/address/1A1zP1eP5QGefi2DMPTfTL5SLmv7DivfNa

As you can see, there are 999 transactions into this address which is the first ever as far as I know, so this address has basically 66 BTC that are frozen forever. What's the deal?
812  Other / Meta / Re: Wow, you can buy positive trust for 0.0301btc on: November 14, 2015, 04:45:29 PM
Not sure what to think of this. I mean yeah, in an ideal world positive trust would only and only be acquired through acting good, doing good contributions and whatnot, but it's a free market after all, if the want to buy trust then what we do about it.
813  Other / Meta / Re: Posting pictures to bitcoin forum using Imgur.com on: November 14, 2015, 04:39:45 PM
Yeah, i've noticed the error with a white background and red letters that goes something like "A proxy has been detected and this image cannot be shown" or something like that. Sometimes I wanted to post a pic and had to try several hosts before finding one that the forum was ok with.
814  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin at ATH. Reached 2200 USD on Gemini !!! on: November 14, 2015, 04:37:35 PM
It was apparently an error by the trader's side, he meant 220 and screwed up with 2200 by adding an extra zero or something. I think this guy shouldn't have been gifted with that, if we start correcting everyone's mistakes things that aren't mistakes will go reversed with the excuse of being a mistake.
815  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Another scaling poll on: November 14, 2015, 04:33:48 PM
It is not a simple matter that we are dealing with. The decentralization of Bitcoin is at play, there are major trade offs that would need to be made by using big blocks. I want sightly bigger blocks + sidechain payment platforms like LN to scale up properly.
816  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you holding your bitcoin for a price increase? on: November 14, 2015, 04:29:10 PM
I am not scared about the big sell outs and big dips such as the one we saw recently after reaching 500 then crashing all the way down to 300, I am too familiar with big bubbles and will not give up on my holding long term plan no matter what.
817  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Andreas M. Antonopoulos, author of "Mastering Bitcoin", is doing an AMA on: November 14, 2015, 04:24:45 PM
Nice, I presume this is going to be a big one. I think Andreas is the most famous Bitcoin guy out there right now and always comes up with really good stuff, will attract a lot of people. I still find the most interesting guy to be gmaxwell tho, too bad I think he isn't doing an AMA over there.
818  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: In 2015, faucets are bad for bitcoin on: November 14, 2015, 04:22:31 PM
I presume the biggest revenue from the faucet owners is indeed ad revenue, im not sure if Google AdSense policies properly allow for ads to be ran un such sites, but in any case it is always good to have faucets to give the newbies their first satoshis for free.
819  Economy / Speculation / Wences Casares (XAPO CEO) - Million Dollar Bitcoin on: November 09, 2015, 02:01:25 PM
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zGlRs9NhI2Y

This guy gets it. With Bitcoin its all or nothing, a very asymmetrical investment. We either go to 0 (and this looks less and less likely daily as the technology develops and gets acknowledged worldwide) or we go to 1 MM+. Just do the math, a little bit of fiat and a little bit of gold (let's remember Gold has trillions invested) can make the price skyrocket.
Hold long term and win, or get kicked out in the ups and downs along the way. Your choice.
820  Economy / Speculation / Re: NEW BUBBLE STARTED on: November 09, 2015, 01:58:15 PM
The consolidation of the price is now official. It has been now days at a very nice an stable 380 price. Everyone that is paying just a little bit of attention can clearly see that the general feeling is very bullish.
