841  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What's your opinion of gun control? on: August 10, 2015, 06:49:51 AM
IMO, people should be given the choice whether whey want to own a fire-arm or not. In places like Texas, where home invasions are very common, the possession of a fire-arm can save many lives. However, the government should make it impossible for people with a criminal record, and those with mental issues from obtaining fire-arms.

Yeah man, I'm with you but it's a "double edge sword"...

On one hand, legal gun owners don't want their rights infringed - and honestly the government in the US will never succeed in taking personal gun ownership away. It just won't happen without a militia fight form legal gun owners.

On the other hand, you have a lot of crime from illegal gun owners and the mentally unstable. And they'll always find guns, regardless of the laws. Yet the legal gun owners aren't willing to support laws that help the government fight illegal gun ownership. It baffles me.

Legal gun owners in the US want their guns but aren't willing to be stewards or ambassadors of responsible gun ownership.
842  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Video: Aloft hotel robot butler that brings you room service. on: August 10, 2015, 06:45:08 AM
This is interesting. Thanks for sharing this, I wonder which location it was at.

For those that don't know, Aloft hotels don't have formal room service or a real kitchen. They have a community pantry (so to speak) with mostly cold food (e.g., yogurt, granola, milk, juice, chips, cookies, some sandwiches) and some previously made warm food (breakfast sandwiches, almost exclusively). So this robot style food delivery is a nice compliment to their low-service model. They don't need to prepare anything more than is already prepared and they don't need to hire more staff to run the orders.

I think this is a very appropriate place for robots to increase service without taking jobs from others. It's a nice balance...
843  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Custom Physical Coins on: August 10, 2015, 06:11:53 AM
Hey, so Elianite might know. He's been writing a book on all the physical crypto coins in existence. I'd bet money he has information on who these people use to mint there coins. (Here's a link to his thread for the book: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1022071.0)

Do you have a design yet? A lot of the coins look very similar and almost all have a striking resemblance to the original: Casascius. I think it would be cool if a completely different design was created, perhaps drawing on some of the unique features of older fiat coins (e.g., one with a hole in the middle, etc.).

Good luck to you, I look forward to seeing your coin once it is complete!
844  Other / Meta / Re: Banned in Bitcointalk for 1 month on: August 10, 2015, 05:59:17 AM
Two points to add:

1) If you don't have a paying signature, you can post almost anything you want - as long as it's not complete nonsense, spam, or offensive to most people, and

2) A lot of signature campaigns are cracking down on post quality - and they should! They're either not counting many posts, reducing rates, or kicking people out of their campaigns. It's the best option, in my opinion, to keep post quality high and keep the annoyance of signature campaign posting at a minimum.

Learn from this...loose lips sing sigs!
845  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do girls use Bitcoin ? on: August 10, 2015, 05:33:28 AM
Are girls / women interested in Bitcoin ?
Your opinion ?

I just polled a woman about this question (my wife) and she said "I don't. I don't have time for that!"

What can I do to help her understand that she should make time for it?

Thanks.
846  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Dice game strategy? on: August 10, 2015, 05:23:16 AM
I've became interested in playing dice games with my BTC but every time I play I lose. Is there something that I'm doing wrong, or dice games are supposed to be like that? (sorry I'm new to this) Isn't there a guide or tutorial where I could get started playing these games? I don't know how this really works. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks  Wink

So far, I like dicecoin.io  Cheesy

I'd love to see a dice site that actually incorporates something more than a roll for a pre-selected range of numbers. In fact, there's no dice at all. It's just a click and a spin of numbers. Are the numbers even aligned with the numbers on dice - 1-6?

We need a BTC game that uses real gambling games and in that case dice means craps! Where are the craps games?

At least PlayTodos has poker and bingo...it's a good start.
847  Economy / Economics / Bitcoin Faucets - how much do those sites make in ad revenue? on: August 10, 2015, 05:17:34 AM
Anyone have some reliable info on how much bitcoin faucet sites can make in ad revenue? And how is the revenue generated - through page views? Ad clicks? Something else?

Freebitco.in, Xapo Faucet, Moon Bitcoin, there's a lot of good faucet sites that keep people coming back (and only for dust)...how much money are these site owners making on a monthly or annual basis?

Let me know what you know!
848  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Microsoft now accepts Bitcoin to buy Xbox games and Windows apps on: August 10, 2015, 05:14:59 AM

It's only a matter of time until ALL mainstream companies are accepting bitcoin...this is only the beginning! Have some faith and some patience and we'll be getting big news like this once a month.

This and the combination of Bitpay's service is going to make using bitcoin completely acceptable and feasible for major corporations. Corporations will always follow the money, as long as there is minimal risk they'll lose money in the process.
849  Economy / Economics / Re: Americans Flocking to China on: August 10, 2015, 04:54:30 AM
Conclusion:

As China continues to grow many Americans  are seeing the great opportunities and  higher standard of living Asia, the  influx  Americans is  expected grow over the next few decades as more Americans call China home.

Next time you should start with your conclusion, if we agree we can agree. If we need more information we can dive into your detail to see if we understand your logic, support, etc.

Your conclusion is a valid hypothesis but I didn't see (in the quick scan I did) facts to indicate that this is actually happening. 600,000 Americans living in a country with a Billion people is insignificant. More importantly, you didn't provide any growth rate did you? Or something that could imply there is a recent spike in Americans immigrating to China?

Finally, the stats you provided are great for China! And they would/could attract people from anywhere in the world - what makes you believe that American's would be more likely than anyone else to flock to the opportunity that exists in China now?
850  Other / Off-topic / Re: DO YOU HAVE 1 BITCOIN? on: August 10, 2015, 01:46:46 AM
Interesting question, a poll would have been nice...fortunately for you a poll for this exists!

Check out my poll on Bitcoin Wealth by Region - WE NEED YOUR VOTE: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1133078.0

A lot of people here have said they don't have 1 bitcoin yet and I don't think we have your votes yet, please spend 2 seconds completing my poll so we can have the best insight possible. We already have just over 150 votes!

Thanks for your help!
851  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Comedian Louis C.K Begins Accepting Bitcoin on: August 10, 2015, 01:42:33 AM
The more the merrier and he is a big deal. It's weird that Bitpay is listed as a payment option on his site and not Bitcoin.
He chose bitpay probably because they auto convert the btc to usd and then send to his bank account. Most services who accept bitcoin throw bitpay actually only receive usd and not bitcoin.

Bitpay found a great niche to facilitate bitcoin payments AND get more press and notable people, organizations, and causes to accept bitcoin for payment.

Louis C.K. is great...check out his comedy, buy this show (give him BTC0.05, he's worth it), enjoy it, then check out some of his other work. He has a TV show called Louie as well. He's quite well known in the business.
852  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Transferring Bitcoin to wallet on: August 09, 2015, 06:02:03 PM
Thank you for answering my question Smiley I still have some questions. Can I transfer Bitcoins from one wallet to another, for example from xapo to electrum?

Yes, when in your Xapo wallet click on "My Address" and a QR code and  your address will appear. Copy the address and past it into the site from which you wish to send your bitcoin (or faucet site or whatever).

Also, check out Xapo's mobile app and faucet!
853  Other / Off-topic / Re: Will you quit your day job to go full time on bitcoin? on: August 09, 2015, 05:44:27 PM
Are you inspired by those bitcoin millionaires? Are you thinking of filing a resignation letter on your day job (if you have any) and focus on bitcoin instead?

Me? I do have a day job and I consider bitcoin as my side job. I don't want to lose that another source of income just because bitcoin is awesome.

If you quit your day job you wouldn't have any income to go "full time on bitcoin." I think you misunderstand what Bitcoin is. It's currency, not a game or job. THere are several organizations that will convert your paycheck to bitcoin, that is how you go "full time" on bitcoin. Just get paid in this alternative currency!

If you live in Europe and your day job pays you in Euro, would you quit it to "go full time in Dollars"?

That literally doesn't make any sense.
854  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who thinks Gavin Anderson knows who Satoshi is? on: August 09, 2015, 05:36:08 PM
Do you think Gavin has knowledge of who or how to reach Satoshi?

Do you?

You must to have this much curiosity to set up a poll and pose the question. So assuming my premise is correct, what information do you have that leads you to the hunch that Gavin knows Satoshi? For those of us that don't know Gavin's history as well, answering this poll is just like flipping a coin. If we don't have any information to help us make a choice we'll just choose any answer to see the results.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.
855  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I doubled my bitcoin in last 3 months. How do you make money(bitcoin) online? on: August 09, 2015, 04:50:25 PM
I don't invest my bitcoin...too much risk...but I earn and I buy bitcoin with what I earn. I don't know how you can invest via bitcoin without worry of getting scammed. There's ZERO recourse or protection if your investment gets taken (i'm not talk the investment loses, but someone steals your money.)

Lending is one great option and provides a good service to people. I wouldn't recommend any bitcoin lending options (unless they provide some level of insurance) but I would recommend a company called Prosper (www.prosper.com), they allow you to provide loans to people in $25 increments, you have complete control over the types of loans you fund and get an interest return corresponding to how much risk you take.

It's a great program and helps people that can't get loans through banks...consider peer-to-peer lending!

Does prosper take Bitcoin, I cannot see it mentioned in any of the information posted on the site? I reckon the OP got lucky in new Ponzi schemes. It's always the first

guys in who gets the profits. Anything without high risk or huge luck or down right illegal actions, bring those kind of returns.

I have been dabbling in day trading and I have not come close to showing 200% profits. If OP found a way to cheat the rat race, he should keep it to himself... if everyone

knows the secret... nobody would be making money.  Wink

Hey, great point - Prosper does not take Bitcoin. But consider how any investment works, the type of currency used to buy the investment is almost completely irrelevant to the investment itself. Another investing option for you (not day trading) is Motif Investing...www.motifinvesting.com.

Full Disclosure: I receive not benefit, commission, or earnings from recommending these sites to you all, I just genuinely believe them to be be great investment options (that are really easy and low cost to get into).
856  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I doubled my bitcoin in last 3 months. How do you make money(bitcoin) online? on: August 09, 2015, 04:48:06 PM
No risks, no gain; More risks, more gains.

...and more loss. People seem to forget that the risk equals greater chance for loss, not greater chance for gains. It means there's greater chance for loss but if you win, you win big(ger)!
857  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: Do you still really use faucet? on: August 09, 2015, 03:59:43 PM
I know most of you guys really say get free btc for newbies, but you still do it?

If so which ones the best? i plan on getting my nephews to do this for me lol.  Cheesy

Ryze, I still use a faucet - direct your nephews to the referral link in my profile and I'll kick back some of my referral commissions to them.

Yes it's dust. Yes it's not nearly as much money as one can make doing ANYTHING else (therefore it can be a waste of time, depending on what you could be doing otherwise) but it's like playing the lottery. The faucet I use has a lottery system, you get two tickets for every roll. If you don't play, you can't win!

859  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: SatoshiQuiz : Knowledge is Money : 500 satoshis per min on: August 09, 2015, 03:35:55 PM
Okay, also, the rewards don't seem to be paying what they say.  One question will say "reward 500 satoshi"  you will get it correct, and then you will be awarded 50 satoshi?

Is that working as intended?

The prize for the question is divided among the first three users to correctly answer the question in ration 6:3:1.
So if prize is 500 satoshis and you are first user to answer then you get 60% = 300 satoshi
if you are second user you get 30% = 150 satoshis
if you are third user you get 10%= 50 satoshis

The winner details of previous question is shown at the bottom of page.

What's the minimum balance required before payout can occur? A lot of sites require a minimum balance of 5,000 satoshi before payout...that's a lot of quizzes!
860  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: Faucet over 1000 satoshis per claim on: August 09, 2015, 03:32:25 PM
Nice list of 9 different faucets. I was going to suggest adding freebitco.in but I noticed that all of the faucets on your list pay at least 1,000 satoshis, and freebitco is paying 747 satoshis as the lowest (and most common payout). So from that perspective your list is paying more per try, however some of the sites on your list can only be claimed once every two hours (bringing down their average payout for the comparison).

To anyone interested in his link, a few things to be aware of:
  • The link appears safe (my computer hasn't exploded yet,  Grin
  • All the links are referral links, which is fine, but it's always good to know who's making a bit of coin off our faucet play...referral links are good - i have one for freebitco.in in my profile (CHECK IT OUT!) but I just wanted everyone to be aware

To the OP, which faucet out of this list of 9 is your favorite? Which do you think pays the most or highest prizes?
