edit: I'd better clarify that there's nothing wrong in being kind to yourself - you might need it.

April 2013 was quite significant as the price of bitcoin rose to ~US$250 .  I remember this because I finally found an exchange and deposited money into it only to watch bitcoin rise significantly while I tried to buy enough to purchase the miner i wanted.  My bids kept getting left in the dust until I just gave up and waited.  Luckily it came back down significantly that time.

For Valentine's day this year I bought a bouquet of roses for my wife from the place I normally get them.  It has always been a dozen long-stem roses and since even-numbered flower arrangements are for the deceased, I pull one out and put it in a bud vase for my daughter.  For some reason, my wife counted them this year.  I had already arranged them in a vase with some fern and baby's breath and my wife was smelling them when I heard, "Eight!?"  I couldn't believe it.  I had to count them myself.  Sure enough there were eight.  I put the single back in the large vase to make it an uneven number but I never expected that.  I thought for sure there was a mistake but no... the roses came packaged in nines this year.  Bastards!

 Even before covid was a thing, I've been taking supplemental D₃ @ 2500 to 5000 IU daily (objective was to ward off potential prostate cancer).  It's cheap and we don't see a lot of sun here in the winter so why not?   Obviously this is anecdotal but I've somehow managed to remain free of covid even while living with/caring for infected family members.

 Costco has it on sale right now @ $8.99 for 365 tablets of 2500 IU each.  Seems like cheap insurance - YMMV
