I created EBT as a favor for what used to be a friend(s)

I have dropped all support for it. The developer can contact me for a refund

I try to keep friendships and work separate. Some people make that difficult and have crossed the line

If someone would like to take it over message me here for the checkpointing key as it is your only way of contacting me now

First any of us has heard about this. Lack of explanation makes this very confusing.

Oh my.
863  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [PMC] Premine Coin | Rare | Mining Transaction Fee Proof of Concept on: March 07, 2014, 11:08:44 PM
It pains me to say this, but I do not wish for PMC to be listed as a coin to vote for on Cryptsy. This voting system that exchanges are employing now simply promotes pump and dump coins to the top, and is at best bribery, and at worst pure and unadulterated greed.

Coins should be listed on their merits, not on the deepness of the pockets of the community. I think it's all a big sham, and quite frankly this has effectively ruined the chance of any legitimate coin getting on an exchange. It may very well have effectively killed the chances of any coins getting on Cryptsy without paying to do so.

Paying for votes is wrong.
864  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] ★★ EBT Coin - PoW/PoS (30 days) - New Video on ebt-coin.com!!★★ on: March 07, 2014, 11:00:51 PM
EBT will be removed from the Cryptsy voting site at the request of the team.  I have also requested that any BTC spent on votes be returned.

After much deliberation it was decided that we will not stand by while Cryptsy takes paid bribed to add coins to their site.  They are simply turning this community into a popularity contest without taking anything else into consideration.  I hope you guys agree with this decision and decide to stand by EBT and support a coin that is not intended to be a one time pump-n-dump.

I agree completely with this. This paying for votes system that is spreading across the exchanges is the worst kind of bribery and extortion, and all it is doing is pulling even more BTC out of the community. Eventually it will be sucked dry and there'll be nothing left.
865  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [PMC] Premine Coin | Rare | Mining Transaction Fee Proof of Concept on: March 07, 2014, 09:35:43 PM
These massive pump and dumps are sucking the life out of the altcoin market. Just look at Auroracoin. Just another market trap.

PMC is the only altcoin I've held that is even remotely stable.

Where are the devs? I hope cash hasn't become abandonware.

Look at this site http://www.2euroinks.com/

They want an incentive to add PMC or pre-order

From e-mail "To be perfectly honest with you, most of the coins we have listed, had offered a bounty for accepting their coin. Now as PMC most likely can't offer that kind of incentive, maybe there's another way we could work together. One option which came to mind is that of getting some -pre-order interest in our website. For example, 20 PMC holders (in Europe) pledge to place an order with the website - and if there's interest, then we can look to accept PMC"

I think that we would skip this offer but I'd like to known your opinion.

Not worth it, to be honest. Not for a small retailer that deal in only one line of products.

Yeah, I'm all for getting merchants on board. But are there really 20 PMC users that still use ink cartridges ?

I find it hard to justify twenty orders just for them to consider listing PMC. No chance.

We shouldn't have to pay to get listed on websites like that. Period.

When PMC is listed on the Cryptsy votes page, I would rather we focussed all of our efforts on that. Although I'm starting to think this "buying votes" thing is all a bit of a cash grab. The way exchanges list these coins seems to be almost completely arbitrary.

869  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Coin Halving - Does it work? on: March 06, 2014, 03:46:18 PM
Coin Halving seems to be the age-old way of reducing supply over time, but I have seen a few slightly different approaches lately which decrease the amount slowly per block, or even based on a curve like with Stability Shares.

I've noticed that more often than not that when a coin halves, provided the level of interest remains the same, the difficulty also halves along with it. As this is the case, then what exactly has the halving achieved? If the reward has halved and so has the difficulty, then you'll still get coins at more or less the same rate.

Is the classic approach of Coin Halving just not suitable for fast moving altcoins? I quite like Foxcoin's block reward structure myself which slowly decreases the amount every block, or Mintcoin's weekly halving, which seemed to help with the coin's popularity.

I'd like to see more coins using curve-based block rewards, however rather than something to emulate how people expect coins are normally mined anyway, instead something to control the instamining that's rife with pump and dump scamcoins.

What would be wrong with low starting block reward, which gradually increases and then tapers off before then decreasing? Some coins do this in a crude way by making the first group of blocks low reward, which I think is quite a good approach, but it could certainly be better done with more advanced block reward adjustment.

So think Stability Shares, but instead of rewarding the earliest miners, start low and slowly ramp up the block rewards to give people time to adopt the currency. Then reward the early miners, and then taper off supply.

Mining away at this.

Good to see you here, Nullu.

Remember you from the good old Klondikecoin times.
Still holding all KDCs I mined, hope they will catch up again.

Yep, still holding those KDCs. Has the community behind that coin. It will take time, but it will grow naturally, rather than be pumped.

Have that feeling about RevolutionCoin. Put my money where my mouth is on this one and spent about 0.2 BTC on leased mining.

That is a good investment. RevolutionCoin is still young, easy to mine and is handled by the community. After all these failed launched in the last days, people recognizing most of the developers are incompetent and/or greedy and will only bring harm to a coin. RevolutionCoin has a growing community, no developers, three community members holding the premined genesis block for bounties and giveaways only. I also have a very good feeling about RevolutionCoin, it is naturally growing and worth to hold a big stack.

I was able to lease enough to mine 1k RevolutionCoins, which I feel is nice stake.

All these scam pump and dumps lately, it's just a mess. I want to hold something more stable.

I also think it would be a great idea if the premined coins were offered to those scammed or ripped off by IPOs. A small token gesture to show them that RevolutionCoin isn't like other coins.

I think perhaps the politician ideology of the coin may send some mixed messages, but if that ever comes an issue it could easily be re-branded.

RevolutionCoin is/has no politician ideology, it is just about revolution. Revolution in this case means changing the status quo of all the scam actually happen in crypto world.

Using part of the premined coins of RevolutionCoin to support victims of greedy devs is a good idea I think, it would spread the word wide. How do other community members think about it and how could this be realized?

Well, we could have community votes/polls on what scamcoin investor group deserves some RevolutionCoins, and then we can look at some distribution methods.

I'm not personally a fan of rewarding people who lose their own BTC, however giving them a small amount would be ok. I wouldn't be happy with large amounts given away. After all they may very well just dump them for BTC.

Premine (PMC). Great coin, great community, great development.

Premine (PMC) is one of the only coins that is successfully 100% Premine, and you didn't even have to pay to get any. Now look at the price of it.

Forget these scamcoins and invest in PMC.

Bought a few. Not going to bother touching them for a few weeks. We'll soon see if it's hype or not.

Do they have another exchange yet, or still just one?

I think there's more than one, but I bought mine on Mintpal.

Anybody here mining?

No need to share $ amount if you do not wish to, but Im interested to know what kind of fees the minders are receiving and if raising or lowering the tx fee would be something that could be changed in the future?

I am mining, about 30Gh/s.  Have been for about 16 days and have gotten 51.7 PMC.

Those non-rounded amounts of satoshi on the end of the block reward ? Probably my block rewarder. Still ticking away at approx 0.001 per block.  Grin

Yesterday I hit a block that rewarded 1.10205177, but yea most are sub 0.001.  Most I hit was on Feb 25th, 5.79296274

That's a nice reward. The block rewarder keeps the network a little busier at least, and it's not costing me a lot to run, so I'll keep it going.

I still don't understand how these coins were distributed.

What were the requirements for receiving PMC?
Were 499,000 PMC given to just a handful of people?
How much PMC did each developer receive?
Are there any left for regular users?

What were the requirements for receiving PMC?

Declaring an early interest. That is mainly it.

Were 499,000 PMC given to just a handful of people?

Quite a many handfuls, who them themselves gave it to many others.

How much PMC did each developer receive?

0. The dev gave them all away.

Are there any left for regular users?

If you mean of the initial coins? No. They are now in the hands of users, the market, and so on. The coin has become valuable now, so giving it away would be like giving people free BTC. It would defeat the point. There are still promotional giveaways taking place, so you can still get coins for nothing, but the initial phase of the distribution ended some time ago.

What was the amount of PMC given to each person and how many people received PMC?

It varied. You'd need to speak to the dev about that. Around 5k per person, but it varied. There were also some larger payouts for a couple of bounties. It seems like a lot now, but for a coin that had zero market cap, it was essentially worthless when it was given out. As far as I'm concerned, those who got it early deserve it. There were a few greedy people in the bunch trying to get more, but the majority of people who got PMC spent time spreading it out among others.
