I drove 100 miles each way but it was worth it. (Now I'm behind on college work)!

It depends, does it really improve your quality of life?
863  Other / Off-topic / Weird/funny video on YouTube (NSFW) on: September 24, 2014, 02:44:47 PM
I found out about this series through an article on VICE.
I was expecting the worse.
The first episode was so-so but it showed some good signs that it will get better as time goes along. I was rewarded with this:

Is the merchandise being handled by BFL?

Hopefully not!
865  Other / Off-topic / Re: what do you do to keep fit ? on: September 12, 2014, 09:50:01 PM
I'm fit and I'm fat.

I bike (sometimes 100+ miles in a trip), long distance kayak, climb trees and take long walks.

I cook delicious (and mostly healthy foods) and I overeat to the point of not being able to take it. I'm starting to eat less so I can lose some weight. If I didn't eat like a family of four I wouldn't be fat, so I've started doing just that.

Overeating like this is a bad habit. Not properly clipped in the first 20 pounds gained it can lead to a world of trouble. What caused me to gain weight was a change in exercise routine without a change in eating habits.

I became much less active while consuming similar (if not higher) amounts of food. I used to dive and wrestle and be even more outdoorsy (swimming against the current etc.). This stopped (plus some medication that was wrong for me) and I went from 140-150 to 200.

Now I'm starting the arduous journey back to fitness.

I take pictures every Sunday.

In 6 months or so I may even share them when I reach my personal goals.
866  Other / Off-topic / Saving a thread off-site in my PC? on: September 12, 2014, 06:37:44 PM
Is there any standard that would make it easier?

I like a couple of threads and would like to have them stored in a file somewhere for quick access just in case. Should I just save the websites or is there a better format?
867  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: About Amazon and Bitcoin on: September 11, 2014, 12:25:11 AM
Did it occur to anybody else that Amazon can't join the bitcoin revolution because Jeff Bezos is part of the bilderberg group?

Bitcoin revolution is the anti-thesis of the bilderbergers.

If by a minuscule chance Amazon will adopt bitcoin, then it will be HUGE! BTC will be unstopable after that.

Miracles happen alot. It's not inconceivable.

Amazon has been accepting bitcoin for about a year now through their affiliate gyft.

I've bought tons of stuff with BTC from amazon.

It's as easy as 1,2,3.

How have you missed this?
868  Other / Off-topic / Re: Best multiplayer game. on: September 08, 2014, 04:10:07 PM
League is up there. It's difficult and challenging but that is all part of the fun.

It's free and you don't have to pay money to enjoy playing it.
869  Other / Off-topic / Re: I am getting 1000/1000 soon™ on: September 08, 2014, 05:58:13 AM
Why don't you just put in a splitter and a million mile cable, i'll hold on to the other end for ya.  We'll call it a favor Wink

For the record, I know this wouldn't work even if the cable was real.

UTP cables have a max range of 100m (300 feet)

Fiber has a limit of about 80km. You would need a bad amount of fiber optic repeaters.

Let's not even mention co-ax cables.

A million mile cable would go around the earth at least 40 times so I assume you live in space. I'd recommend satellite internet. It sucks but it's all you got.

If it's not 10GBASEZW I don't even care.

(Just kidding)
871  Other / Off-topic / Re: I need a beer. Better buy a 6 pack.No? maybe a 30 pack no?. 99 pack? YES! on: September 05, 2014, 11:59:07 AM
The 99 pack is not the break even point for making beer (For me it would be near the 150 bottle point).

If you do the bottling correctly (leave enough space they won't explode) (probably) (fingers crossed) (*BANG*)(BOOOOM!) (SSSSSSHHSHBANG).

I like beers like Heineken and Amstel. I don't buy here in the states cause I'm 20. So I don't even know how much a good beer costs here in the states. I know there are tons of good beers made in the states, but perhaps they skip the part of Florida in which I live.

Now this would be killer for a party 99 packs of beer holy sheep shit! Takes 2 people to carry WTF!

http://www.foxnews.com/leisure/2014/08/26/austin-brewery-rolls-out-pack-beer/

Why don't you just make your own beer rather than dropping $100 on beer?

If you live at a reasonable house (read, not in a shitty condo with your parents) it's really easy.
873  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The coin that will replace BTC & make all alts obsolete on: September 04, 2014, 11:46:38 PM
I'm very interested. I can't wait to give over my money.

I can afford to not take a vacation for 5 years.

Where do I send my money?

Don't believe all the FUD about this coin. It's legit.
874  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BETA][EXCHANGE][REALTIME] CoinEX realtime exchange on: September 04, 2014, 11:43:46 PM
Putting your money in those exchanges is more risky than putting your dick in a zombies mouth  Grin

I did just the tip.

It was a bad idea. Now my dick is half of what it used to be. (In internet terms it's still well over 3.5 miles).
875  Other / Off-topic / Re: Universe Sandbox (awesome galaxy simulating software) on: August 31, 2014, 10:11:04 PM
Look under "more simulations" and load figure 8.

It looks really cool.

I'm going to play with it with the more accurate math from the options. (The accurate math (non-Euler) about half the fps for me)

Also, I set the background to black, it's easier to focus.
876  Other / Off-topic / Re: Universe Sandbox (awesome galaxy simulating software) on: August 31, 2014, 04:36:45 PM
Nice educational game, I'm thinking about buying it.

Purchase decisions are always difficult.

What is your opportunity cost?
If you have a tiny amount of BTC you can always HODL.

You can always try the free version. (And then try the freeer version *cough*)

877  Other / Off-topic / Re: Universe Sandbox (awesome galaxy simulating software) on: August 31, 2014, 04:33:23 PM
This game looks great, but after clicking around trying to find the Bitcoin option I found this in the FAQ:

Quote
Q: I do not see the "Pay with Bitcoin" option on your site.
A: Bitcoin is available as a purchase option whenever US Dollars are listed. Users from Europe may not see Bitcoin listed as an option in the Humble Store where prices are listed in Pounds and Euros.

Well that sucks. I might have to commit the ultimate blasphemy and click the paypal button...  Embarrassed
Now that is huge discrimination right there.

Proxy time.

Just wow, way to go Humble Bundle!

There is always the option of trying to get a free copy to just look at the simulations to see if you're interested

http://universesandbox.com/buy/

There's also a decently active forum.

I got into this because I'm watching Carl Sagan's cosmos, I'm currently in episode 4

878  Other / Off-topic / Re: Universe Sandbox (awesome galaxy simulating software) on: August 31, 2014, 03:43:47 PM
I was going to buy it, but I can't pay with Bitcoin?Huh

It's tricky, but you can. They always hide the "Buy with BTC" buttons.

I think humble bundle is collectively afraid of backlash from other payment processors.

PS1: There is an alpha stage for the second game. Since my hardware is not that strong I'm not even going to attempt this
879  Other / Off-topic / Re: Universe Sandbox (awesome galaxy simulating software) on: August 31, 2014, 02:52:14 PM

Very interesting, the video is kind of funny, I'll get my copy today.

I'll get my copy today as well. I was just loading my wallet up!

It cost me -0.00421134 BTC  (according to Preev that's USD 2.025)

That was MY two cents Sad .
880  Economy / Economics / Re: Solution to poverty - Socialism or Capitalism? on: August 31, 2014, 02:47:03 PM
A system of strong and reasonable private property rights.

The ability for every citizen to get a piece of land, (even for free) and have the right to keep it indefinitely.

Capitalism AND Socialism (where it makes sense).

A few basic things can be provided by the government. A house. Reasonable infrastructure. Access to food and water.

Everything else can run in a free market with restrictions so as to make everyone owner of the environmental resources of the land that is owned by the population.

Strong private property rights are the most important thing in an economy.

Time and time again, where people own their land and things they thrive.

Look at the differences between South And North Korea and you'll see how much of a difference private property rights make in the general Wellfare of a population.

(Other historical examples: Germany and Eastern Germany. Finland and Estonia, China and... China).
