So-called 'dead' coins being listed on Cryptsy, bright names, that people remember, are NOT like penny-stocks of stock market.
They can be easily REVIVED, get a dev team, community, infrastructure - and they have significant price growth potential.
Are you serious?

Would you rather have a tested coin with solid code and fair release, or an instamined coin that will most likely be a victim of its own marketing when its first real test is the FBI breaking its code and sending some darkweb operators (very publicly) to clink?
I prefer a tested coin with solid code base. I dont understand why you ask me. I didnt pushed for marketing.
I think you confuse me with another/other poster(s) pushing for marketing.

As marketing it is not meant bitcointalk forum. Here at least the ones that care of altcoins mostly already know of Monero.
For average bitcointalk altcoin user. current database and simple wallet or unofficial GUI is good enough. and if they would want would already have some Moneros.
Marketing Monero to the general public is not encouraged at the moment. Developers want the marketing to start after the most important fundamentals (GUI, RPC-API, ...) are developed and stable.

Monero will not fail because of bad marketing. I know of multiple people with academic and professional marketing background in Monero community, e.g. core team member "David Latapie" has a marketing background.

I guarantee: We will have good marketing strategy, concept and plan, when developers are ready.

I suggest as marketing activity:  that (all) Monero supporters with account status "Sr. Member" or higher ("Hero Members", "Legendary") set an Monero realated "Personal Text" of their choice, as decent advertising.

Like saddambitcoin https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=53193 and I have.

I am sure it would improve Moneros image and publicity on this board very much, if hero members like e.g. "binaryFate" or "nioc" would have/use an Monero "Personal Text" tagline.

Hero members and legendardy members are respected and trusted, their positive perceived image would transfer to Moneros brand image (and increase publicity).

I would run such a service with a fair fee or even with no fee. I just need an NodeJS-coder to port/code it.
Like I said I have the shapeshift.io source code. Its working for BTC<->LTC, I need an coder to make it work for Monero.

All the rest to run the proejct I have (Monero domains, marketing know-how, servers, experience running hidden services, ...).

Obvious if choosen to run with small, fair fee, I would split earned fees with coder who made it work.

Wouldnt the proposed solution (new hashing algo every block) increase the probability of chain forks, due to networking issuesses/orphaned blocks?

Symas Lightning Memory-Mapped Database (LMDB)

This page contains technical information about Symas's LMDB database library. LMDB is an ultra-fast, ultra-compact key-value embedded data store developed by Symas for the OpenLDAP Project. It uses memory-mapped files, so it has the read performance of a pure in-memory database while still offering the persistence of standard disk-based databases, and is only limited to the size of the virtual address space, (it is not limited to the size of physical RAM).

LMDB is a tiny database with some great capabilities:
- Ordered-map interface (keys are always sorted, supports range lookups)
- Fully transactional, full ACID semantics with MVCC.
- Reader/writer transactions: readers don't block writers and writers don't block readers. Writers are fully serialized, so writes are always deadlock-free.
- Read transactions are extremely cheap, and can be performed using no mallocs or any other blocking calls.
- Supports multi-thread and multi-process concurrency, environments may be opened by multiple processes on the same host.
- Multiple sub-databases may be created with transactions covering all sub-databases.
- Memory-mapped, allowing for zero-copy lookup and iteration.
- Maintenance-free, no external process or background cleanup/compaction required.
- No application-level caching. LMDB fully exploits the operating system's buffer cache.
- 32KB of object code and 6KLOC of C.
- Licensed under the OpenLDAP Public License
- It is a read-optimized design and performs reads several times faster than other DB engines, several orders of magnitude faster in many cases. It is not a write-optimized design; for heavy random write workloads other DB designs may be more suitable.

I have the shapeshift.io source code. If someone wants it to help Monero, write me.

Use http://webchat.freenode.net/ to get on FreeNode IRC via Webbrowser.

From my knowledge Monero marketing is not encouraged at the moment. Devs want marketing to start after more/the most important fundamentals (GUI, RPC-API, ...) are developed.

Monero will not fail because of bad marketing. I know of multiple people with academic and professional marketing background in Monero community.
