Thanks for clearing that up I was wondering why it said ASIC #6 but couldnt understand OP on the KnC forums.

It says ASIC #6 because a module is connected there. But yes, it is a Jupiter with 6 modules connected.

Place your bets if KNC would agree to sell me an empty aluminium case so I can provide a good home for my Upgrade modules.
What do you think is a fair price?

Bring 50Eur cash and drop on the counter. Should get near wholesale, since it's a hassle free transfer?

Or....  ask for a scratch and dent -- for free,  or 25.

I see a couple there with the front sections bent over.  Try and get one of them.

OK, I will try to sneak when they are not looking and put one in my pocket undetected  Grin

Thanks. Gave me some food for thought. Looks like I will go get a new power supply. Perhaps KNC should change their PS recommendations? Also, I thought the power usage was going to be 1W per GH/s. I haven't been keeping up with the news.

The current miners can hash at 1W/Gh/s, less even dependant on the firmware, but the tuning suite will allow you to decide that far more specifically.  Each die appears to have an operational sweet spot.

I'm yet to see 1W/Gh/s at the wall, which btw is dependant on PSU used, so technically it is a wrong claim to make Wink

50 eur is too much, but 25 eur will pay Smiley

actually you could just go down to a local metal shop and they would bend and aluminum case for your dimensions imho for the
price it would take to get a unit from Sweden

not a big deal they make boxes out of aluminum for all sorts of uses..anyway would not be hard to do where I live they'd even tap out the screw holes

also you would not have to do aluminum you could do a pexiglass arrangement like the MARS prototype unit has that in fact would probably be easier to find someone to do

Actually I'm going to Stockholm Monday (I thing I said that at least 3 times already).

Considering you have bought a number of miners and upgrade boards from them - free!

Well I share your views that KNC can afford to give me a free case, when I have spent over $27000 with them, but if they don't at least I hope they let me pay for it.
Recently I asked for some free longer cables and got a negative response (albeit unofficial), but maybe it will be different if I ask in person.

On that topic, will the boards be mounted to aluminum plates?  I know that we get the bar and screws to mount the fans.  I'm just not sure what to lay under them.

I've laid motherboards on cardboard boxes before...I guess that'll work...lol

Boards are mounted on spacer attached to the bottom of the case or any other material.
I was thinking to lay them flat on anti-static bags, but I think the ASIC chip will need some ventilation underneath, so it might be be such a good idea.
If I can't get a case out of KNC (free or paid) I will most probably build one myself or get a computer case and install the boards on standoffs/spacers.
Guys...
I dont think cardboard, or a plastic bag underneath will work.
The case is part of the structure the bar uses to clamp the heatsink & fan into place.
Without it, all the clamping force would be transferred to the board, and you could literally break it in half tightening the bar to it without the proper base, and spacers.
Also, the boards themselves also get toasty, and cardboard & plastic would be dangerous imho...

**edit...  The case actually acts as a partial heatsink as well. If you were to feel underneath your machine, you will notice the bottom is warm, and the screwheads which hold the board into place are actually warmest, meaning the heat is transferred from there as well...    just sayin'      Wink

I will probably install it on spacers screwed onto a piece of wood if I can't get a case from KNC and until I get a computer case.

Is this something to be thankful for?  Huh

Anyone has their batch 2 Jupiters tracking number yet?

Don't expect anything at least for another week.
891  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: November 16, 2013, 06:46:58 PM
umm yes there is a delay, you said they would ship this week, then changed that to monday.... thats a delay.

Sam specifically said this week, " The Boards will ship out this week directly from our offices in Stockholm". Come on KNC, you are getting shabbier and shabbier looking like a place run by a bunch of kids.

*This is getting really, really old... Jumping on every detail O'rama says.
It really makes you look like a Crested Macaque
He friggin' works there, and just updated the info to you...
I guess you will find out which is right, won't you?
Doggonit.

im just going by what sam posted on the site as well....

The KNC giving misleading information is indeed getting old. You would think that they would have taken their "15th October Dealine" promise as a lesson and learn not to give us specific dates if they can't stick to them. I mean why would you state something if you are not sure you can make it?
Situations change = plans change = you were notified.
Not misinformation, this is called "Keeping you updated"

Again, I am happy with the time it took from Sale to collection/delivery.
I'm just pointing out that if a company is not 100% sure they can keep a promise, then don't make it.

Btw I am only commenting on the "misleading information?" issue here.
I am quite happy that I will be able to pick it up Monday.

894  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: November 16, 2013, 05:28:37 PM

There is no delay on the upgrades they are shipping Monday. Everybody at the same time. That's been deemed the fairest option for all, except Marcus who had suddenly discovered the oversell and freaked out as he had to ensure enough components were available.

These sound like 2 separate events, one following the other: originally KNC deemed the fairest option for all to send all upgrades on Monday and then Marcus suddenly discovered the oversell and freaked out as he had to ensure enough components were available. And because time travel hasn't really been invented yet it looks like the decision to ship everything on Monday was made before Marcus sudden discovery, therefore before the sale even began.
Do I understand correct?

one of my machines went bzerk on 0.99 with disabling cores & errors....rebooted & ok so far...

What is the average speed reported by each in CGMiner/web interface?
896  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: November 16, 2013, 02:01:02 PM
Just figured I would report my results with the .99 firmware. It's been running stable since yesterday when I upgraded.

My mercury was running .96 prior, ~141GH most of the time.

With .99 it's been averaging ~155GH with dips into the high 140's.

Awesome work KNCMiner, thanks! I wonder if I will see 175 or 200 in the future? Lol

Where do you take these speeds from? Can you post a screenshot please.

Thank you.

Cool... I "found" the 52 second block on eligius yesterday!

You should have been hashing at BitMinter.  A block that quick would have won you Jupiter in this months mint race.

Not really. The lowest hash wins, not the quickest to find a block Wink
898  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: November 16, 2013, 02:57:48 AM
In other exciting news...I mined a block today with my Saturn!

First entire block I have mined, it took almost a month of mining 24/7 but it happened.

So that's like mining at 170 million difficulty. You were lucky. Congrats  Smiley
899  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Mint Race #5: Win a KnC Jupiter 550 GH/s ASIC device! on: November 16, 2013, 01:51:03 AM
Talking about luck: I mined a block the 1st day, even hours of my miners started hashing at the pool and since then nothing  Tongue

Jupiter FW 0.99

Power at Wall Down from 748W to 746W

You're hitting 750w?  Bizarre, I'm @ 690w with 98.1

You probably have a more efficient power supply.

Could also be 240VAC.  It tends to be ~2% more efficient.  Would be nice when people post at the wall wattage to post the PSU and Voltage (i.e. 700W X-1250 @ 120VAC).

8 boards hashing at 833GH/s with 0.99 + 2 boards hashing at 211GH/s with 0.98
2x V850 @ 240V = 1270W at the wall.
