Is there a wallet with a GUI interface Huh

You have a few to choose from:

http://getmonero.org/getting-started/choose

MoneroX is the best one out there if you want an "offline" solution. I wasn't able to run the OSX client though, no matter how hard I tried. I have chosen the VirtualBox solution, with a win7-64bit machine that runs on a 16Gb macbook pro. Charm. Make sure you created a virtual HDD of more than 40Gb though, since 25Gb is used for the win environment + swap file.
902  Economy / Exchanges / Re: MtGox withdrawal delays [Gathering] on: June 03, 2015, 05:31:47 AM
The Offline Claimant form, anyone knows what email to send that to ? I missed the 29 May deadline, but hopefully they will accept my claim.

I wonder what will happen with this.

I think you may be shit out of luck there. If you missed the deadline I don't imagine they will allow you to file the claim now. How did you muss the deadline?

I'd advise contacting Kraken ASAP (via their thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=290799.2880) / site (www.kraken.com) or directly PM user: Dargo) in order to see what's possible and what's not. Don't just wait nor trying to do things by your own. If something is possible to be done, the best case scenario is to have somebody with access to Kobayashi; and right now, Kraken has that access.
903  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 02, 2015, 10:23:31 PM
maybe the dickheads that own so many bitcoins and fuck over majority of traders need to be bled out?

I'm keeping my 1 BTC because I love bitcoin but you guys are the reason no one is touching this market anymore.

They don't have to be them. Any holder of a significant amount of fiat can drive the price up and down at will. Think about it.
904  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: June 02, 2015, 09:47:39 PM
I bet most of those 29000 XMR are from longtime holders, at least 2k are from me which I offered when Poloniex introduced margin trading and they're sitting there.

What's the reason for this? The rate you get is pretty negligible in comparison with the counterparty risk. Furthermore, it gives dumpers/shorters some additional liquidity. My conclusion is that those XMR would be better suited for an actual wallet.

I don't know if it suits better for a wallet; but it could certainly move the price up (or down) significantly. I personally don't go on margin trading, too much of a risk for my taste.

I guess one of the primary reasons to the vast amount of spam is the tolerance that most of the campaign managers (excluding some such as Carra) and staff have. Just look at DannyHamilton's ignore list.
I know, because I was part of it before he excluded me realizing that my posts were actually good (improved significantly after joining Mbit and Chainroll), due to someone quoting me; he did even state this in the thread. Anyhow, whenever I check if someone is ignored, I usually find them in that list for a good reason.

People are posting without actually doing a sufficient amount of reading or any at all. I understand this only in certain situations such as joining into a discussion that already has a lot of replies (50+/100+ pages). Voicing nonsense in new discussion actually reflects the persons actual motives to posting (which are often wrong, such in the case of signature campaigns).

I'm guessing that your criteria is softer in comparison to him, or that you're targeting a different group of members. However, the combined list would surely (or at least gradually) increase the overall quality of posts around most of the sections. I guess there are some downsides to freedom of speech when it is backed up by anonymity. I'm actually hoping that something will be done in the future that will effectively work on cutting down the nonsense around here. We've seen decreased activity from some senior members due to this.
I'll PM you shortly.

Update: Significant amount of corrections in my post.

First of, I've often been advised (and accused) about people "wearing" an undersigned campaign (as I'm one of them). If you check the beginning of this thread, I have thoroughly explained why this is not a factor to judge if someone's posts are useful or not. I'd indulge you to read the first two pages in order to avoid repeating myself.

Second; my criteria are (it's a plural of "criterion") based on a couple of facts that happened before (since sometime back in 2011) that have to do with social engineering and behavioral enforcement of certain forum users.

Let me explain:

Behavioral sciences have been on top-of-the-priority-list for many govt. agencies since sometime in the 60s. Public opinion "sculpturing" and unconscious idea enforcement is one of the first tasks that their experiments were after and were heavily funded. You can easily guess why... (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Behavioral_Science_Unit)

Some of those "techniques" were continuously applied by certain individuals within (mainly) the speculation thread (and elsewhere on this forum) with one goal in mind: "accumulate more BTCs". The funny thing was that they were very successful at the time (some of them are friends of mine right now, others are on this list) and they kept doing it and bragging about it back then. Fortunately, they stopped their tactics after they achieved their goal.

Everything follows a circular (elliptical to be honest) pattern and history tends to repeat itself so others in their place are doing the very same thing right now, only harder; and using far more brutal language in their posts. As RodeoX has stated, they're on a payroll for BTCs and the reason is pretty simple. BTCs are scarce and there's no other way to accumulate enough - not now, not ever.

TL;DR:
I keep maintaining this list because I hate seeing people who managed to mine/buy some BTCs losing their stash, because of the heavily distributed FUD that the army of sockpuppets are launching each day towards our community in order their bosses getting "more cheap coins". At the same time, I try to revise it with "errors" I've made (ie: including a bear user instead of a trolling/spreading FUD one) and make it better. I appreciate any suggestions & help. Smiley

Good morning from Greece.

Usually, I just ignore these obvious trolls. I was tempted, and fed the troll. But now, Shipraraty is on ignore.
However, I am curious about who pay some of these trolls. If the forum administrators published the IP's of the most obvious trolls, maybe we could find their employers? I don't know...

Have you ever followed the linux community?

Now imagine one of the nasties from linux who becomes a trader.

What do you have?

Ha ha ha! No, I never "followed" the linux community, just grew up with BASIC, UNIX and SIMULA.
But I think there are troll factories in the western world as it was proven in Russia. I think the western troll factories are private advertising agencies, not state agencies.
What do you think, sir? Are some of trolls paid?

This could be utterly wrong. They're just doing it for the sport... ah, and some dirty filthy $$$! Grin

Everyone in the speculation sub forum should be ignored.

Well, not really. I really enjoy reading about 90% of the posts there (after applying "The List"). Insightful posts regarding possible price drops & rises, TA graphs, even news and rumors are mostly welcome. That's why they call it "Speculation" after all. Everybody has the right to express him/herself. On the other hand, I find extremely annoying people who are trying to bully others, provoke them and/or post irritating pictures just to force the rest not to read the specific thread.

Mind you, I strongly believe (can't prove it though) that up to a certain level, the speculation thread *really* drives the price up and down. Otherwise, why would a sockpuppet army make all this effort to demolish the place?  Roll Eyes

Sounds like the FUD that only JorgeStolfi would write.  Cheesy
No, you've actually come across uncharacteristically, for lack of a better word, sane with regard to this block size stuff.

Should we be concerned for your well-being that something is terribly wrong?
No, it is just that I believe bitcoin is doomed either way, so it is easy for me to be neutral.  Cheesy

If I were you, I'd admit it publicly that you fell in love with this community, regardless of your academic interest. Chances are you are already in possession of -at least- a small amount of coins. C'mon. Admit it. Smiley

Thanks Bitnik and once more Carra23, for this excellent campaign . Will also leave the signature on for a few days. Looking forward -if possible- to join another campaign like this.

Cheers.

As of today, following my 3 over 3 rule, Fonzie is out of The List. If -for some reason- you want his name back in please keep in mind you will have to add it yourself. The rest please update your lists.

Thanks.

look how the walls are being built. give up. sell now.

I only see limited volume and walls on and off for -at least- the last 2 weeks (with short periods of small dumps/pumps). I think we're going nowhere but here. Undecided

Edit: somebody just committed suic... err... sold 3700 BTCs Tongue
Time for NLC sockpuppets to post the usual pic  Grin

I can't even imagine what someone is thinking if they are buying right now.... lol jesus. Brave souls.

Futures are still over spot @ OKCoin, but not by much.

If you don't like buying low, would you have suggested buying at $1000 instead?

I would suggest buying a bit higher, let's say $10,000 just to be sure. Then sell on double digits.  Grin
919  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 31, 2015, 11:33:38 PM
Low volume dump, on a critical moment, just to show everybody that the trendline is broken. Somebody's desperate - or - he's running out of bitcoins. Good luck to those who sold.  Undecided
920  Economy / Exchanges / Re: MtGox withdrawal delays [Gathering] on: May 31, 2015, 06:09:16 PM
Quoting from the 22nd April 2015 report, a total of about 1.3 billion yen (over 10 million dollars) is owed by Karpeles to MtGox depositors.

I wasn't sure about the amount. It was 10M then. The critical question is then "Will he give them back?"  Roll Eyes

Since Kobayashi opened bankruptcy proceedings of Tibanne, he will be forced to give a % back (how much % is the question), quoting:

While I have continually and strongly claimed against TIBANNE Co., Ltd.
(“TIBANNE”), which is the parent company of MtGox Co., Ltd. (“MtGox”), for
repayment of the loan receivables that MtGox has against TIBANNE, repayment from
TIBANNE has not yet been made. Accordingly, on January 29, 2015, I applied for
commencement of the bankruptcy proceeding for TIBANNE, as a creditor thereof, with
permission from the Tokyo District Court. In response, on January 30, 2015, the
Tokyo District Court issued an order of commencement of the bankruptcy proceeding
for TIBANNE.
I, as the Bankruptcy Trustee of MtGox, will continue to make efforts to take
necessary measures with respect to collection of receivables due from affiliated
companies, etc.

I think MK has a lot of his stash (5M) captured by the US Govt. for running a money transmittance service back in 2013; that's why he didn't want to appeal to the court there. I don't know if the "loans" have managed to make his current economic condition better, but since he has a gag order I believe he couldn't tell us even if he wanted to.

On the bright side, when this is over, Kraken will hold a lot of his original customers and probably will get a nice position to the exchange business. I think this will probably give the price the much awaited boost it needs after 1+ year bear market.
