"Availability" is just meaningless in my opinion, unless BFL specifies what they mean by it.

Availability to butterfly labs means, "Hey guys, we are available to take your millions of dollars starting now. We will sit on this cash building THOUSANDS of dollars in interest over the next 6 months, then maybe think about shipping your items. Gotta go, busy so we can't comment on any of your complaints. Will update in next 3 months."

EDIT: also, how is the trade in going to work? Will we have to ship our singles back the day we order the ASICs and not be able to mine while we wait? Or can we trade them in when the ASICs arrive?

Dear Morblias,

Regarding the trade-in, you can keep your units until your BitForce SC is ready to be shipped.

Regards,
BF Labs Inc.

Ready to ship or has shipped?  Those are two very separate things.

Please accept my apologies for all of these problems,

But I assure you our engineer will tend to all of these issues today

I have a feeling something got changed when they incorporated Luke-JR's code into CGMINER

(I could be wrong)

but try this:

http://btcwebhost.com/cgminer-2.4.2mmq.rar
(This is Luke-JR's original code and was known to work without issue)

Also if you have the option to use Linux instead of windows you may have better luck with 2.4.3 or Luke-JR's BFG miner.

for any specific technical questions please email to stcupp@btcfpga.com

do not worry we will get to the bottom of all of these problems today.

I can give it a go in about 10 hours from now.  Thanks.

Ok, judging from my own experience, the red led light goes off once cgminer loads the fpga software on the daughter card.  I noticed one of my cards had a red led that wouldn't go off and I thought it was the one that was working and the others not, but it seems the opposite is true.  I was having an issue with my cgminer crashing.  I thought it was bad software.  After some observing things, I noticed the crashing was always after talking about a certain daughter card.  I rearranged the daughters, making sure everything was plugged in tightly and sure enough, the errors kept happening but at the new address of the bad daughter card.  I'm currently waiting for it to finish loading the software and then I'll know for sure.  It takes exactly 5 minutes, 45 seconds to load software onto each daughter card.

Currently It is loading the program, and starts to set the speed and then crashes.

Yep.

905  Economy / Services / Re: Gigamining / Teramining on: June 19, 2012, 03:28:51 AM

this really is not rocket science.....

Giga pre-sold against future production to fund the purchase of the mini-rigs.  He expected delivery a couple weeks ago, and can easily make the payments on the promised 200 GH/s out of the proceeds he took in from the bond offering.  Keep in mind he sold these things at $1 per MH and above.....which seems ludicrous to me when you can buy the damn mini-rig for closer to $.60 per MH on your own.....but whatever floats your boat.

Considering he clears a profit on EVERY bond sold, he can make the coupon payments from thos profits for some time while BFL drags ass on delivery (like always).

I wish I was as clever....I would buy as many MH/s as I could at $.60/MH and sell them at $1.00/MH all day long.  Pure profit.

Er ... am I mistaken or is a GIGA bond worth 5 MH/s ?

Errr....am I mistaken that 1 BTC = about $6.00?  $6/5MH = OVER $1 per MH.

The maths are hard around here.

That's only been up for - at least a few weeks. You're a little behind the curve, I'm afraid.

This part here read differently just yesterday;
4. When will the BitForce SC be available, and how fast are they?
Our ASIC based products ranging from 3.5 GH/s to 1,000 GH/s are currently scheduled for availability in late October, 2012.

By availability I'd assume they mean taking orders starting then.

Anyone wanna take bets on the first unit not shipping until Feb or later?

"Availability" is just meaningless in my opinion, unless BFL specifies what they mean by it.

exactly, and I would be far less bothered by BFL's scheduling if they did not very purposely word things so ambiguously.

Actually it's quite the opposite that has been getting them in trouble. If they gave more ambiguous ship dates for the singles we might have less people trolling them about the 4-6 weeks they promise.

Its not really trolling when its taking almost double what was promised.

oh, and make sure you have the cards grouped together, closest to the first slot, evidently it doesn't like having spaces.  Found that out the hard way too.
908  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Introducing the ModMiner Quad 840Mhash @ 40 Watts http://www.BTCFPGA.com on: June 19, 2012, 02:54:38 AM
Nope, I was watching it for 10 mins before I had to leave. Will check on in later.

After programming the FPGA, did the red LED on the back of the FPGA card turn off?

What exactly do you mean by it says it's OFF?

K, I'm having issues with cgminer not seeing the device. The device says it is all installed ok. And under devices can see ModMiner Quad.

Phil

use -S modminer:\\.\COMn for cgminer.  Of course it can't just be -S COMn like bfl or the like.

If they received any venture capital, they would have had to file an exempt distribution form with the SEC. They have not done this. A search for "Butterfly" in EDGAR reveals nothing of Butterfly Labs, Inc.

C'mon, guys, if you did a financing, let us know the details...

http://www.sec.gov/edgar/searchedgar/companysearch.html

We have officially announced our upcoming ASIC based SHA256 products today.  Here's the press release with most of the relevant details:

http://news.yahoo.com/butterfly-labs-announces-next-generation-asic-lineup-054626776.html

Note:  We're currently focused on the shipment of our Mini Rig product and won't be able to field questions for a few days but we'll be back with answers to any questions.

Kind regards,
BFL

1)    BitForce SC Jalapeno: a USB powered coffee warmer providing 3.5 GH/s, priced at under $149

2)    BitForce SC Single: a standalone unit providing roughly 40 GH/s, priced at $1,299

3)    BitForce SC Mini Rig: a case & rack mount server providing 1 TH/s, priced at $29,899

This strikes me as very odd. You could make a much higher profit margin. Why on earth would you price these this low?

You seem to have delivered, if a bit tardily, so far, but this just leaves me stunned. Pricing this low cannot make any sense for your bottom line.

They pretty much guaranteed market dominance. Maybe they want these devices sent out to as many people as possible to protect the network sooner from the possibility of interference. With all the venture capital they have received they will want to protect their investment and that means protecting bitcoin.

For all you know, it was a DBA.

Thank you Giga.

Your words sounds like fresh air here, you know how to transmit confidence to your investors.

That is why they call them confidence men they are good at it.

Unlike certain trolls who aren't even very good at trolling Smiley

Question: Will the ASIC still work once all coins have been generated ?

Yes.

Try adding more RAM.  The 12th might not be detected because of being out of memory.

Timeline will be available as soon as we start taking preorders. And I must say that it will come out at least 3 months earlier
than what most people have estimated. Hope that helps.
