901  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What bitcoin related businesses do you own? on: September 17, 2016, 07:06:03 PM
I've been a freelancer for over 20 years, and I've asked a few clients if they would be willing to pay me with BTC but none was interested so far. I have plan for a BTC business but perspectives are low, so I'm keeping the thing's on hold. Maybe next year...
have you thought or tried to offer a discount if they pay in bitcoin? i can understand that nobody wants to get less paid, but maybe this is what it needs to take this of the ground. so maybe then in the near future you can be paid in bitcoin and in full. if you just ask for bitcoin they wont even bother to look it up, but if they get a discount they will most likely want at least to know what bitcoin is.

Yes, I thought about it, but that wouldn't change anything. My customers want to have clean and simple accounting books and adding transactions in a non standard currency doesn't interest them. They would have gave me the same answer if I would have asked to be paid in Australian dollars or any other currency which isn't their currency.
902  Other / Archival / Re: Would you keepuse Bitcoin if government says bitcoin is illegal in your country? on: September 17, 2016, 07:02:14 PM
What a bunch of sheep!
I thought bitcoiners were revolutionary, I was seriously wrong. But the case is clear to me. I'll keep on using BTC because I don't have much other choice. I don't have the right to open a bank account in the country I'm currently staying. Anyway, moving to another country is no big deal.
Just for curious if you arent able to open an bank account where you live, you forced to spend all earnings or try to save them better as you can alone. But looks like you are exchanging it to bitcoin a part of your income, are you working outside your country? I dont cara about what government says, because they only wanna more money from people, soo banning bitcoin for me would make me search even deeper to get them.
Yes, that’s crazy that bitcoin it literally allowing him to be able to travel without worry. I can’t imagine not being able to store the money you have safely. I also love the fact that banks want to try and make money off of it. So, because of that I choose to stay up to date with bitcoin articles and info.

I'm not using BTC everyday, actually, I could even live without it. I said I don't have the right to open a bank account in several countries, but that doesn't mean I can't open one anywhere. I mainly use BTC for investment and trading. I prefer to compare it to a foreign currency. I still have Hungarian forints in my wallet right now, but nobody accepts them where I am, so I keep them waiting till I travel again to Hungary to spend them. It would be the same if I am in a country where nobody accepts BTC.
903  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Forget Brexit, the UK will get mass surveillance instead on: September 17, 2016, 12:58:04 PM
I was under the impression that the UK was already the most surveilled society by quite a long way. I can't say it's made it feel any more safe and there's far more violent crime than the US ironically enough. Good job we're not allowed guns.

I've thought that many times, but nobody said it couldn't get worse. It's also probable it will get even worse out of Europe, as there will be no supranational power to grant consumer rights to anyone, but I guess that's what the Brits wanted.

905  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Do you tell in public that you use bitcoin? on: September 14, 2016, 08:48:22 PM
Of course, I do. Why shouldn't I? There's nothing to be ashamed of.  Then, all my friends know I'm somewhat special with a different lifestyle and political beliefs, so BTC fits me quite well.
906  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Japanese ‘BitGirls’ Show Brings Blockchain Voting, Cryptocurrency to TV on: September 14, 2016, 08:46:33 PM
Another altcoin with another blockchain. Is there a faucet so you can get first coins for free? I believe you have to pay and I don't like it. BTC was worthless when it started, and it took years before it was worth something. I guess the creator sof that new altcoin just want to make cash quickly. With women showing some flesh, it has worked countless times before.
907  Other / Politics & Society / Re: World's wilderness reduced by a tenth since 1990s on: September 09, 2016, 10:56:06 AM
You should compare the population of giraffes and men in Kenya during the last 100 years. It's alarming, but the same thing has already happened in Europe. There used to be wild boars, wolves and bears all over Europe. They're all gone.
908  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Jio Network May Boost India’s Bitcoin Economy on: September 09, 2016, 10:39:22 AM

https://www.jio.com/

That would be indirect, but anything which can boost the usage of the Internet can help BTC. Unlimited data transfer at night sounds great. I also like the idea of One India, without any roaming charges between North and South. I just wonder how good is the network when you are in rural areas.
909  Economy / Exchanges / Re: opening a bitcoin exchange site in my country on: September 07, 2016, 06:05:51 PM
I don't know what country you're from, but you should consider making it material, with a brick and mortar shop on a popular street. You couldn't make it viable by buying and selling BTC only, but you would help a lot the community by giving BTC a street presence.

Bitcoin is an Internet money, having a street shop instead of an online shop kind of defeats it's purpose, IMO.

Well, lots of people like me want BTC to move from being Internet only. That's why some install ATMs. Ultimately, I guess it depends on your country, and its people. How do someone buys BTC where you are? Any local players already?
910  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: APIs to know the balance of a bitcoin address on: September 07, 2016, 06:01:41 PM
Surprising! I hadn't imagine there could be so many, considering that it's so easy to create a new address, I thought few people would find it useful to watch a given one. Well, I was wrong...
911  Other / Off-topic / Re: Technology and Human life..... on: September 07, 2016, 05:58:21 PM
Old question. Atomic power can produce cheap energy for millions but it can also kill millions. Besides high technology, a fork is very useful to eat but it can also hurt you real bad if someone pokes one in your eyes. Ultimately, technology is neutral, everything depends on the men using it.
912  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Mohammed tops the list of most popular baby boy names in England and Wales on: September 07, 2016, 05:48:44 PM
Putting aside any racist connotation, it's strange that there are so few arab names. Abdul, Ahmed, Ali, Mohamed... There are hundreds of different names for French, German or Italian boys, so I don't quite understand why so many arab parents chose Mohammed. They seem not to care about giving theirs boys a name different from all the others. Teachers don't like it when in a class there's several kids with the same first first name.
913  Other / Politics & Society / Re: France(ism): ban the burkinis on: September 07, 2016, 05:42:01 PM
I'm in Nice for a few days. I haven't any woman in burkini so far, and that's good. I hope I won't see any. I've seen women wearing some kind of sports bras in the street, that's what I'm expecting to see on the Riviera.

Remind me again why people should dress to meet your expectations as opposed to wearing what they want?  If everyone thought that way, no one would be allowed any choice whatsoever.  Can't you understand what a dangerous mindset that is?

Not sure what the ad hoc ad hominem has to do with a question over the staging of events...

Because you decided to "cut my worthless post off right there".  If you don't want to take my arguments seriously, I'm happy to reply in kind.  I'll repeat the point again to give it a chance to sink in:

If you think lacking a towel/book/parasol is somehow proof that it was staged, then you are absolutely 100% clutching at straws.  I've been to a beach more times than I can remember without any of those things.  It proves literally nothing.
Not just that.  But the fact she did it 10 feet from the police/guard station, with a handy photographer just happening to be right there.

It looks pretty much staged, dude.

What's your point?  That we shouldn't talk about it being staged?  Even Wikipedia has an accurate history of the Rosa Parks staging of her protest.

Yes, I cut your post off.

I've seen one fully veiled woman today. In France, in Grasse. I thought it was forbidden, maybe she didn't know the law. You could only see her eyes, and that wasn't nice. There are more than 50 countries (yes, five-O) in the world where a woman cannot wear a skirt in the world, and I hope France will not add to that list. French women have been fighting for decades the right to show and enjoy their body and sexuality, and it's very sad to see things going backwards.

Fortunately, it was better at the beach, with one woman topless, but she was more than 50. The young women do not go topless the way their parents did. I don't see this as progress.

915  Other / Politics & Society / Re: corruption is in Human Genome on: September 06, 2016, 03:16:27 PM
Really? So to get rid of corruption, we'll have to wipe out the human race? I think this is going to hurt, but I have no doubt this is BS. Intelligence probably varies with your genes, but I find it difficult to swallow that there could be some link between the disrespect for the law, or the given word, and your ADN.

Any scientific data to back up that claim?

Oh, thank you! That's what I was looking for, an article from a well-known source. I don't know where does the OP lives, but this murder didn't made the news where I am.
918  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Mohammed tops the list of most popular baby boy names in England and Wales on: September 02, 2016, 11:05:50 PM
Mohammed is a common muslim name and hence you got to get that name ,hope the english is slowly turning out to be a muslim country Grin Who know i guess it might happen in ten years time that you got to see England as a muslim majority country  Grin

I think the streets will flow with blood before that happens so dont get too excited.

Quote
There were 698,512 live births in England and Wales, 7,361 Mohammed's only equal 1.05%

It was muslim immigration that drove the vote to leave the EU.  Border controls will tighten and deportation will increase.

Muhammad isn't a common muslim name, it's the name of their prophet, don't you know? It just has various spellings in our languages.
That brexit thing will kick away all the polish plumbers (well, maybe), but the sad part is that nearly all poles are catholics. So thousands of catholics will leave, but the muslims, who did not emigrate from another european country will stay.
919  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What is a sovereign nation? on: September 02, 2016, 10:57:29 PM
I am my own nation, and you can be yours if you want.    Cool

Wish you all the best!

But you won't go far without recognition. That's the problem with nations. If you come from a famous one, where the people are beautiful and wealthy, you're someone, but if you come from Yemen or Somalia, you're nobody.

I wish I could travel all over the world without an ID, nor telling anyone where I'm from.
I have heard a few more people say the same thing..
So do the drug smugglers..
so do the human traffickers..
so do the murderers..
so do the gun runners..
so do the terror groups..
So do the tobacco runners..
So do the gold and silver runners..
so do the robbed car van truck and motor bike runners..
so do the money runners..
so do nuke smugglers..
so do the house robbers loot runners..

Yes would be nice if we all had money were no need to worry about getting things..
But planet don't work like that..
Humans will do anything for money and i mean anything steal cheat lie kill all for cash..
Also how do we pay to travel all over the world?..

I'm not talking about money, I'm talking about the freedom of travel for normal people. Don't you know that to visit many countries, you'll need a visa and that to get one, you'll need to show a return ticket, sometimes an hotel booking so the foreign authorities will know where you are, and also pay a very substantial sum?

I know I won't travel to China again, because the last time I applied to get a visa, those f*ckers at the embassy told me that the consular fee was now 175€. Yes, 175€ to get a stupid stamp on my passport! And I couldn't get it right away at that price, there was a 24 hours delay. You see the same shit all over Africa. You show a passport to a guard at the border, he says he needs to see his chief about it, and you spend 3 hours under the sun, only to get the stamp which will allow you to cross the border.

Guys, I believe this whole story is a fake. It didn't happen. It was all invented. Or has anyone a proof that it did actually happened?
