-edit-  THERE.. my channels to you are zero fees.  Fill back up your Wumbo channel some with them... I think you can?

I appreciate that, but don't worry about it for a rebalance.

I didn't stop to consider that channel liquidity would get locked up in other channels, after redistributing the wumbo (~0.17 BTC) liquidity with LOOP.

TBH, the only reason I established a wumbo channel with LOOP directly is to see what would happen, and, well, I guess I've now discovered what happens to all that liquidity - it just gets spread around to other channels that needed it.

Might throw another coin onto it, but don't have a burning desire to expand out any further at the moment. Top 500 is good enough for me; just fucking around.

I'll sleep on adding more coin or not in the morning...

EDIT: Might experiment with a couple wumbo channels with LOOP, set some retarded fees that would be extremely lucrative for me, and will see what happens.
EDIT2: ... in which case, might want to add my node to the exclusion list when submitting loop in/outs so as to avoid my high fees?

Hopefully, all will be fine and I'll still be alive ...

I don't want to split off too much into COVID-19 politics - It's funny how polarized I was prior to being infected, and now having undergone the experience and gained natural antibodies, I'm way more zen about things, and almost feel a sense of sincere fear for vaccinated folk.

Not anything silly like "Oh, they are gon' shed some shit to me, or dey gon tink ima kill them with muh natural antibodies", but more specifically with Antibody-Depedent Enhancement ( https://www.chop.edu/centers-programs/vaccine-education-center/vaccine-safety/antibody-dependent-enhancement-and-vaccines )

I'm genuinely concerned that "vaccinated" folk may apparently be at higher risk for contracting mutations due to the trojan-horse effect. I hope this isn't the case, as many friends I know are immunized, and I wish them no ill will, and pray they do not suffer any ill side-effects.

I am highly against people under the age of 21 being vaccinated, if I could wax political for a moment...

If I am reading you right there are three possible scenarios.
1.  The value you lost in that channel was exactly gained in another one (or ones) that is still open.  *unless*---
2.  You spent the amount you are now "missing". (In this case the value stops in someone ELSE's channel)
3.  You channel partner broadcast an incorrect channel state and ripped you off.

Here's the close transaction from LOOP.

https://mempool.space/tx/8c5f9bc17d9b81b64f9e81547c172fb9ba4fe9ecd98bd740023fc90ede7f2cc3

I got ‎0.00190205 back.

No idea what happened to the other ‎0.16586666.

EDIT: Hmm. Just did all the math for the values on my node, and the accounting all adds up - after incurred fees - so I have to think that the liquidity is wrapped up in other channels that I'm linked to, pointing towards your Case 1 ?

Kinda fucks with my flow, cuz now I need to add more coin to establish another wumbo with LOOP, or close some existing channels, which I don't want to do. I suppose I could throw another coin onto the node, but kinda already starting to feel a bit uncomfortable with not understanding what is going on with the piddly 3 BTC I'm playing with.

Gotta start loading up guns into the back of the truck; Rick and I are trekking out to the ranch to have some fun...

... but yeah, about this Lightning stuff... So, I opened a "Wumbo" channel with LOOP. The channel got entirely drained from my side to their side.  The channel was co-operatively closed, apparently.

My settled balance is WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY BELOW what I put into it.

Did LOOP just rob me of near 0.17 BTC?

WTF?

Bob is that you?
Quote
Public Lightning Network capacity just broke 2,900 BTC.
Over 400 BTC has been added in the last 10 days.

I'll admit to adding 3 BTC in the last 7 days.

I've never understood how Raoul Pal could be such a fan of altcoins.

Raoul Pal is absolutely NGMI. Dude's portfolio is something like 5% BTC, 70% ETH, and 25% other, IIRC.

Zero-fee weekend for muh node. Let's see how this plays out when I adjust fees on Monday.
947  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 25, 2021, 02:11:50 PM
Establishing a couple more channels today, rebalancing a whole bunch of shit, but I think I'm going to stop opening more, for now, providing about 0.1% of the total liquidity on Lightning.

I think that's a respectable enough achievement for a random pleb like me.

Can't go too crazy.

Have a wonderful weekend, brothers (and any lurking sisters)

With my Umbrel finally synched and working I'm playing around with Squeak Node.
As it is in super Alpha stage and there's no documentation I created this reddit group to get people started.
https://www.reddit.com/r/squeaknode
It's certainly not at twitter level yet but the background mechanics appear to be working for sending tweets over the Lightning Network.
The developer's twitter is https://twitter.com/squeaknode

Installed and added you. Don't see a way of posting for free at a quick glance. I'm not big into the idea of paying to see random postings.

People should listen to Professional especially those in the healthcare sector at this time.

Excuse me, but has anyone just ever come out and said "Hey, uhh, dude? You're pretty fucking retarded. Do you know that?"

Does anyone have any more details regarding what is happening to bitcoin.org?
Is it going to be run by that ego maniac Wright?

bitcoin.org got hacked via Cloudfare and hosting related issues. The team was quite upset troubleshooting the event yesterday.

It is not ever likely to be acquired by either Calvin or Craig.

Thinking of throwing yet more coin in and building out the node out to properly and respectably rep this fruity thread... In the top 500 for capacity already  Cheesy

Yeah, threw another coin onto the node and looking to establish some quality channels now. Pretty much routed to all the major hubs. Now to look for niches.

There are some nodes that only accept 0.01 BTC maximum for connecting. Fuck that. Not even worth it establishing a channel for that. I'm looking at doing at least 0.05 BTC channels, so, that'll be the limiting factor for me on how I expand out.

Assholes.

Damn you bastards for getting me back into Lightning again.

This Umbrel stuff is kinda neato.

LOL @ Extreme Fear.

Nap time for me. Got a stupid early start to the day... Ugh...

FWIW, doubt we dip so low, but I'm going to ape out at $39.5k and penis smash buy.
957  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 21, 2021, 06:09:40 PM
Getting sick of these dips now. Starting to doubt my confidence about new highs later in the year now  Undecided
Edit - Not selling obviously but not feeling particularly bullish atm.

A handsome, tall black fellow, wearing fashionable yet comfortable clothing approaches you from out of nowhere. A well worn tan cowboy hat adorns his head, suggesting an untold history of experiences and legends yet to be revealed.

You notice the man is carrying two dull circular metal plates, pocked with spherical indentations and scrapes - Clearly having been punished to their material limits.

The man holds out the two plates, with his left arm - somehow defying the laws of gravity.

With his right arm, he tips his hat, and mutters "You are going to need these more than I do right now".

The dark man turns, and walks off into the western sunset.

* BobLawblaw cracks his knuckles and starts buying

EDIT: Ok, one last limit order @ $40k even waiting to get filled. Not sure we're going to dip below that.
EDIT2: And yep, got filled at @ $40k. Enough damage for one night. Back to playing with this bitcorn ligma node...

Bah, you assholes that brought me back to the Lightning network...

Loading up some more coin to establish some better routes.

Fuck. Down the rabbit hole I go again...

Targeting $41k for scooping.

I'm expecting more pain.
