Thanks freedomno1, updating the OP now Wink

Still no new rates for legendary member, what do you think do they deserve higher payment?
I doubt there will be higher rates for legendary members.

Think it is probable there will be higher rates for legendary members because they have more exposure

To reward loyal bitcointalk members, only Full members and up could be allowed to have signatures and legendary could have something extra available in their sig (which is not the case at the moment as far as know)
962  Other / Meta / Re: Activity & new membergroup limits on: August 13, 2014, 11:33:36 AM
Cool a new membergroup called Legendary. Awesome, theymos!

Where is the original post announcing that?
963  Economy / Speculation / Re: $10,000 when? on: August 13, 2014, 11:30:56 AM
When some big company (eg. Amazon) starts accepting bitcoin.

Amazon had a revenue of $74 Billion in 2013 and Dell was $56 Billion.

Dell is NOT small. Dell already started accepting Bitcoins and it didn't make any impact on BTC price.

And that is strange Huh

BTC will reach $10,000 within the next 3 years.  Cool

Agreed
964  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does martingale really works? on: August 13, 2014, 11:30:14 AM
Still people try martingale constantly. I am watching primedice and dicebitco.in and people use the bots (or manually) and grind away martingale for 10000s of bets. I guess they like the fact that they constantly win money until the big bang.

If you deposit 1 BTC and martingale from 1 satoshi, doubling on loss, you will probably never reach a long enough losing streak to bust. It takes around 100 million bets on average (very roughly).

Still, if everyone did the same, an unlucky few would bust, and that would pay for all the small gains made by everyone else.

So even when a strategy is overwhelmingly likely to result in a gain for individual players, it's still a net positive for the house too.

Even if martingale fails in theory with an infinite number of rolls*, in practice you can only make a limited number of rolls (even if you roll through all your life) and the number of players is limited at that. So the chances of losing deposit may still be lower then the chances of winning for every player in particular and the whole group in general (provided that they don't exceed their individual limits of total rolls determined by balance and the number of players). In this case the house will have a net loss even if some of the players lose in the end... Cool

*in fact, this is the only case about which you can say anything specific without taking into account other factors (like total number of rolls and players)

If you bet 100 to win 1 your chances of  winning are greater than your chances of losing but you have a negative expectation because the house has an edge, it is the same with the martingale : you can bet a lot to win a little and you are likely to win but it is still a bad bet because you have a negative expectation

If you can make 100,000$ to play once the russian roulette with a 6bullets revolver you have 5/6 chances to win but it is still a bad bet because you are risking too much
965  Economy / Speculation / Re: Gold collapsing. Bitcoin UP. on: August 13, 2014, 11:28:10 AM
Think about it...

Where was Bitcoin when it was at 2.75 years old?

I think you will find some very particular similarities between the two.

I think the assumption that litecoin would take the same development path as bitcoin is quite a stretch, tbh.

Retailers are beginning to accept it, for one. Not many but a few. I was browsing a great electronics site yesterday (can't remember the name) that accepted both BTC & LTC. Very well designed, professional site.

You don't see businesses stoping to accept bitcoins but you see new businesses starting to accept it; the technology is superior to what exists and safer and the western financial system will be hit hard with most fiat currencies showing their inherent weaknesses for everyone to see so Bitcoin will gain value
966  Economy / Economics / Re: Inflation and Deflation of Price and Money Supply on: August 13, 2014, 11:26:44 AM
So in a sense, are the deflation and inflation of BTC kind of like stocks?
Since it's effected by current events relating to BTC.
And also it's ran by supply and demand?

The price is linked to future price expectations and supply and demand

Bitcoin is an inflationary currency in the sense that the number of bitcoin is rising : 11m today to 21m in 2140 but the number of users and the wealth it represents is going up faster so the price should appreciate
967  Economy / Economics / Re: Global Financial Crisis scenarios on: August 13, 2014, 11:24:53 AM
Rising money supply does not necessarily mean inflation. If the additional money supply is not lent and/or spent then it would just be more money sitting in the "bank" (aka the federal reserve). This is one reason why inflation has been so low (apart from the negative inflation prior to QE) as banks have a lot of excess reserves at the federal reserve because there is not enough demand for loans from borrowers that meet an acceptable credit risk.

If in spite of rising money supply and low interest rates, there is not enough demand for loans from borrowers, all it means is that Quantitative Easing has not really been effectiveGrin

You can't say so, since they are targeting the inflation rate and have been successful so far while trying to pass between the upper (run-away inflation) and the nether (stifling deflation) millstone.

Has it really been effective? The target was to get the economy moving again. These funds were supposed to make their way into the economy, not into various emerging market assets.

I'm not very familiar with the effects and aims of QEs, but if I'm not mistaken, one target of the "money printing" campaign was to liquidate toxic assets (read write off). If these funds made their way into the economy that would simply increase inflation rates (now we are heading well into exogenous vs endogenous money debate).

The financial crisis took out a few players (banks / investment banks) in the credit market. The absence of these financial intermediaries would have resulted in lower credit being available to main street. Rates would also have risen, with banks not willing to take on additional risk. QE was supposed to ensure that this did not happen, by making ample liquidity available in the system.

So, in the worst case, QE just didn't work out since there was not much demand for credit from the "main street", but it didn't make it worse either, right?

QE and 0% interest rate are propping up the market but they just postponed a much needed recession to eliminate bad debt, bad players and bad practices

If it worked the FED could raise interest rates and stop QE and everything would be fine which is not the case so we are still in recession and heading towards a major financial crisis and probably the fall of the western financial sector as we know it; they will probably hide it behind something else : virus, russia, war, ect. but the problem has been the FED and US government involvement in market, heavy regulation and low interests rates that created bubbles
968  Economy / Services / Re: [PrimeDice] [Highest Paid Signature] Earn Bitcoins Simply By Posting on: August 13, 2014, 11:20:40 AM
Hello, i have a small question:

I enrolled with 60 Posts and i want to collect my first payment.

How many posts do i list under "Constructive Posts made this term" ? Now i have 121, do i list 61 or the full 121 posts in the first filling form ?

Greetings and thanks in advance

You can only request your payment on the 17th... I do not believe Stunna gives early payments for any reason.

You request on 17th and get paid on 19th or 20th which is fine but it would be better to write it down so new members don't get too frustrated around the payment date

Just hit my 400+ post for this month  Grin, with still 5 days to go. All legit posts.

Btw this MoneyGod dude posts some of the most useless garbage, even outside of his usual gambling section. He's been on my ignore list for a while (as well as a handful of other spammers in this sig campaign), but I still see his name popping up everywhere. Someone get him temp banned for a while.

Did it last month but this month would not even post 200

I'm sure many will jump ship but I'm also sure he'll gain some members. Some people prefer a fixed rate. It also depends on what stunna offers. If he offers the highest rates people will still join, though those that make a larger number of posts may move to another pay per post campaign if there is one open.
Now no competitor campaign is open Dicebitco  already closed so I don't think Stunna going to rise rate

He does not need to give a raise. He may continue as it is...

He wasn't talking about "raising the rate" per se, of the pay per post method, we're talking about what the rate would be per activity point or rank or whatever stunna decides to base it on.  My guess would be that he would put the rate somewhere at the median or average (I know it's 2 different things) earnings for the pay per post for each rank.

In other words I can get max .24 BTC per month being a full member, if I make 400 posts.  But obviously full member payout won't be .24 BTC, more likely would be something like .12 or .1.  So then you have to decide, could you do more than 200 posts in a month and make more than that (with another sig campaign)?  Plus, what will the minimum number of posts required be?

Am not against a payment per activity point + a ref link in the signature if we don't end up being paid less than before as a whole
969  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: I have 3 Million USD to invest into Crypto Currency - How should I do it? on: August 13, 2014, 11:03:53 AM

All of the above comments are interesting reading.  I will say that there have been alot of people PM'ing me with ideas and such.
The scammers are obvious. The peoeple who are just looking to pawn off played out ideas and/or uninteresting bad ideas have contacted
me in droves.

The reason one comes to this board is to gain insight and to gain knowledge.  Yes, there are a fair amount of amateurs here however there
are also a large amount of wise minded individuals, some who post and others who read/lurk.

We have purchased significant amounts of coin as part of the investment and also setup mining and invested into some technologies as well.
ALL based on advice found on this forum and by conversations with smart individuals.

Any serious investor must do his homework and that is why I am here in a nutshell.

Thank you all for the replies and private responses. The information was plentiful and aided my mission.

I have also formed a San Diego miners meetup group if you want to join...

Search for it on meetup.com

Good luck in your business; thought it was a good idea to seek advices and start conversations with members of this forum as they are obviously very knowledgeable in Bitcoin

In most cases yes since diploma is needed in applying for a better paying job. But it is not always the case since even you are not a college graduate, you can earn more money by being hardworking, skilled and wise.

There are over supply of college educated kids, MBA and lawyers.

Law of supply and demand will mean wages have to go down for the "elite" due to competition.

The data during recessions shows that the college educated people have low unemployment, and high school graduates have higher unemployment.

Presumably the college educated move to lower jobs, and the less educated people become unemployed.  So keep in mind that competition is a complex phenomenon, and the degree is still worthwhile.

This is a very good point. I graduated in 2009 and a few big law firms in my area went belly up in 2008-2010. For a couple years, I was competing with out-of-work lawyers for shitty legal support work. Go figure. Wink

Sure, going the uneducated route is fine if you have brains, ability and start-up capital. But you may be edged out of the market when you need a job the most.
Passing on a college degree is a gamble.  You can certainly do better than those with college education, but the odds are against you.  Sure, there are some without degrees that have made it big, but they are few and far between.  Even if you have great ideas for businesses, inventions, etc., there are a lot of things that you can learn in college that will help you succeed at your endeavors.

such as?
Things like communications skills, writing skills, a whole host of technical skills, networking with people, and even personal growth can be very beneficial.  Despite getting solid engineering degrees, I probably learned more about myself and other people than the subjects I studied.  I also formed some of the best relationships of my life.  I don't think that would have been possible without being in a setting where I was surrounded solely by other people my own age.
This is a very good point. However you do not need to get a college degree (finish your degree) to have these skills. You really only need to attend college for "several" semesters.

And you could imagine other settings where you can get those skills as well

College tuitions have been rising exponentially mostly because of the State involvement in the education market and the price to pay is becoming tremendous : if you don't acquire enough skills or don't have other qualities a sole college degree will be close to worthless

When the State intervenes in a market the prices go up : heath, education ect. When the private sector is let free the prices go down

It'd probably be unenforcable or very hard to detract* posts from here really. Why don't you close this thread and re-open a new self-moderated one? That way you can delete posts once they've been answerd or whatnot.

*not sure if that's the right word.

If you do that the number of posts of most members that advertise PD will go down so we will lose a lot of money on a month of earning
973  Economy / Economics / Re: Global Financial Crisis scenarios on: August 07, 2014, 01:32:58 PM
You are right indeed. But we are choosing not between the good and the bad, but rather between the lesser of the two evils. The worse being a default, so what would the US choose? Actually, we already know the answer, since the debt ceiling was already raised in the conditions when the US government had been no longer able to pay out interest.

Ok, fair enough.  If we have to choose between printing and default, then yes, printing is preferable.  Ironically, however, if we print too much, we'll probably be forced into default anyway because no one wants to hold on to bonds issued by a country that's massively devaluing their currency.

This would be true if other countries wouldn't actually fdo the same, i.e. devaluate their currencies all along with the US printing money. This is called competitive devaluation.
When all the countries (or most countries) use QE then the exchange rates stay roughly the same while global inflation rises (or deflation is less)

Exactly and the inflation can be seen in the increase in the money supply (which is inflation) and the consequence is rising prices in the supermarket and stock market
The official US CPI is underestimating inflation
974  Other / Off-topic / Re: What exactly is the most important thing in our life? on: August 03, 2014, 10:57:40 PM
The most important thing is Family.

Depends of your family Wink

Would answer the most important thing is to have a positive impact around you and care for others more than you care for yourself
975  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin or Gold? What would you pick? on: August 03, 2014, 10:56:42 PM
I will take away the BTC . BTC than gold more valuable.
gold bull market has come to an end, the crazy BTC has only just begun

Gold is a buy; it is reliable and wanted, it is very scarce and has proven itself through time

Bitcoin is a buy as well obviously!
976  Economy / Economics / Re: Inflation and Deflation of Price and Money Supply on: August 03, 2014, 10:55:53 PM
Woh..it was such a great post. People like me can learn so many things. Everything is described properly here. You must have deep knowledge about the subject.

It is sometimes hard to read all the posts but congratulations to you if you did

Inflation is probably 5-10%/year in the US at the moment and heading higher, protect yourself and your family!

978  Other / Archival / Re: Updated Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns on: August 03, 2014, 10:54:11 PM
It would be interesting to see if someone would have earned more switching from the highest paying campaign to an other than staying with PD for the last 3months or for the last 6months, bet he would have make more advertising PD which has been paying the most or close to the most every month
