Hold NEM longterm and you will make way more profit than trading in and out ...
Yes, I hold it too. Yes i agree, its too risky, however when i look back, i could have more than tripiled my initial NEMstake if i sold on launch and bought back. But hey, its not alwys ideal to be too greedy. ONE NEMstake will be enough for anybody!

You guys seriously need to look at NEM right now

1 NEMstake is worth $3800 currently, killing myself i did not buy another one before launch!
wow, me too! and all those lucky "interested" guys got a $3800 freebie ... amazing! Yeah, at the time i never even knew they were given out for free, i only paid attention when they were listed on the NXT asset exchange. It cost me about $800NZD of NXT to secure my stake.

Make no mistake here - it will take quite some time before nem will benefit from the catapult. But if you're here, I hope you've figured out already, we never were here "for a quick buck" and that our goal is to make something good. So bear with us.
Yep you have to be in for the long run and not be in for a pump and dump!

Thank you all for waiting so long for news and being patient.
As was said all along, NEM devs have been hard at work behind the scenes. Major deals and advancements in blokchain technology don't happen overnight. For the last few months a rewrite of NEM into C++ with many modifications has been taking place. We are happy to announce that the project is coming along well and is ready for an official announcement.
As a part of the partnership with Mijin, NEM is exploring a unique blockchain model, one of a tightly integrated public/private chain, with one Core team building for both at the same time. We hope that this will help us to gather the interest of businesses and apps that need a blockchain with a lot of options. Whatever they need, we will try to make it possible.
We also expect that this news will help to bring NEM into the spotlight more and give it more attention (that we believe it deserves).
The new Catapult engine is being built for security and scalability as well as ease of use to build on. We expect it to be awesome. NEM developers are taking everything they learnt from writing NEM and doing it all over again, but better all around.
With this news the NEM devs have left their old jobs and are now officially full time paid developers working on NEM/Mijin. And with that move I need not point out that there are just a few other chains with full time paid developers, bringing NEM is the same category such as Ethereum and Bitcoin.
Exciting news indeed, and its only onwards and upwards now. We will be in a class of our own and could very well be #2 or even #1 in another 5 years!

how on earth nem is still so cheap is beyond me. It's a great validation of NEM technology! It is great news indeed. Is there any chance we can get some to translate any of the news articles from Japan so that we can actually make full head or tail on whats happening? I'll try to get all NEM/mijin related news and will put em here: http://nemflash.comJust bought the domain now and did a quick wordpress setup with pre-pre-beta-design Right now, there are two articles, thats just for testing. To automate the translation of the articles, there are some useful wp plugins out there i'll try later today cause i'm still at work. I already collected some rss feeds, the NEM/mijin related news will be posted and translated automatically at the end of the day. Good website! I enjoyed the presentation of Takao NEM definitely looks to me like a revolutionairy project of bright minds that will shake up the world of finance. . NEM is bitcoin 3.0 to me, no hype, just technological innovation and real-world application. I see NEM going the same way as Apple, Facebook, Microsoft etc. we are still in the very early stages. Very excited about the upcoming updates. The foundation has been laid, tested and proven to be extremely solid at this stage already. Yup.......at some point there will be a need for XEM as a quick payment option between interested parties......that's when NEM moons.... Looking great! Thanks for the translations! great news!

Sick of reading all the hype driven by promises such as Vcash.
If you want to invest in something that actually delivers and is already being used in real word applications, look at NEM.
Its got a very stable market cap and is not driven by hype, rather by its results.

Take it easy! Coindesk was always a place what was not a friend of Java-based blockchain solutions. I remember when Coindesk has completely ignored Nxt, even on times when it has had a market capitalization of 50-80 million $. Coindesk authors are pro C(++).
Why on Earth would a website be prejudiced against a, er, programming language? Because back then, POS was considered to be hog-wash, and totally against the spirit of a viable crypto currency. NXT was being rubbished because it was java too, but perhaps you have made a good point and that they are just rubbishing java as an excuse? The truth is that anyone could write a c++ client if they wished anyway, and i believe that has already indeed been done with several alternative NXT clients.

This is a classic trolling event with the intention to devalue NEM and to cast doubt of the integrity of this movement to all new interested parties that read this thread. I find it very difficult to believe that someone would put forth the time and effort to develop on this platform and insist that they complied with all of the rules and then abandon that work for months or a year(s). The Trolling Handbook Toolbox Road Map 1. I followed all of your rules. 2. You failed to make me aware of changes. 3. An illness stopped me from working on this (but not my professional job) 4. You stole from me. 5. You cannot be trusted. 6. I want justice. He covered that pretty well. Did I miss anything? +1 Best thing we can all do is hit ignore and stop feeding the troll!

You understand that the state can defeat the whole purpose cryptocurrency? The government accuses cryptocurrency insecurity in the rights of users. The inability to protect them. Because the community can organize itself, can not be fair. So they introduced the ban, believing that they can be adjusted and it shields people from danger cryptocurrency.
Now I'm standing on the edge, between what is right, those in whom I trust - in cryptocurrency and the community and between the state, which I do not believe.
And you want to say that the state was parvo? And the community is not able to protect its stakeholder? Not even a regular user, and the one who was at the heart of creation? This thanks to the stakeholders? I'm in deep dejected.
And I have not heard a word of support and protection. The community can organize to destroy, but can not organize for justice? Do not say that this is so. Do not convince me that the government was right. I'm afraid to be an example in their arguments against the whole filosifii and freedom cryptocurrency. They can easily reproach Community poking a finger at me.
I ask the community to protect me.
The community does not have such power as to decide who gets a stake and who does not. If what you are saying is true I am sorry you missed out, unfortunately there is no way to verify anything you just said. When money is involved, people will do anything for money, I am sure you understand from the NEM devs point of view they can't arbitrarily decide which case is legit and which case is not, they maintained clear deadlines and a strict policy, looking back at the whole process I think things should have been dealt with differently because there is a lot of fuzz about people who claimed multiple stakes, sock poppet accounts, stakes that have expired etc. etc. I think NEM should have just done an ICO. Lazy man? Do you think you are talking about when you talk about a strange man? I am a professional working in the financial sector, I am not a student and do not have much time. All I needed to track and time passed all the stages of activation. Everything depended on me, I did, and then I kicked community. Do you understand what that means? What kind of future can a system which is so unfair to do that to your stakeholder? I ask the protection of the community !!! How can we verify what you say is even true? If you do indeed work as a professional in the financial sector, then go and buy some XEM while its still cheap. Im sure you can afford it!

there's a lot of invested interest in BTC. how would vcash XVC be able to replace it?
Vcash seems to be the only altcoin that actually has a vision and reason to exist in 10 years time. No other coins seem to care about the far off future. This is total rubbish, unless you are only referring to Bitcoin clones. NXT, NEM, Ethereum etc are all built with the future in mind... With Ethereum, blockchain size and memory needed could eventually become a problem with regards to having many nodes controlled by many different people and it doesn't seem like it's built with those concerns in mind. Maybe they will consider it eventually, but ethereum isn't really built as a currency. NXT - java and I don't think there's been much innovation on it since a couple of years ago, but I haven't been keeping up to be honest. Don't know much about NEM, but can it send an unlimited number of transactions that are instantly confirmed? Just from the last post in the thread, it seems more trying to jump on the smart contract bandwagon than care about the future. Also, if your ISP sees you using port 7890, it knows you're using NEM, although, not necessarily what you're doing with it. ISP's can block any ports if they suspect they are flooding traffic. Anyway, its a good idea to look into NEM, quite a few seem to know very little, I wouldnt say it necessarily is the same as smart contracts, but can achieve similar results, just like NXT or even Bitshares for that matter. The NEM developers have developed a private blockchain based on NEM for private use and its been successfully tested with huge amounts of transactions per hour on a level never seen before. All this is currently going down in Japan, but its proving that the NEM blockchain is built to last and handle huge loads, nothing can make these same claims yet. Check out the last few pages on the NEM thread and check out the NEM forum and mijin website for more info. (mijin is the private version of NEM essentially) NXT can be written in C++ if need be and i believe there are other clients that are written in other languages like NXT solaris etc. NXT has huge potential, they are working in implementing more features and development is still going on, but one of the main devs went on to start IOTA.
