Orama, the selling of the modules tomorrow/tonight,

Do these modules come with the heatsinks, right? And the that special data cable we will need.

Heatsink, no, it's readily available, and not worth the shipping cost to you to have it globally couriered from Stockholm to country X. It's a heavy thing to ship for something that's approx £30 online.

Cables, PCI-E extension leads, screws, and that blank aluminium pieces that affixes the heatsink to the board, ya.

Since the HSF is widely available I assume that any standard size cooler would fit, correct?  How about something like this?
http://www.corsair.com/us/hydro-series-h75-liquid-cpu-cooler.html

Why pay so much money, when you can have something that works for less?

I build PCs as a hobby.  I have an H80 sitting around doing nothing.  I think I paid less than $60 for it.  I think the H80 discontinued now so that's why I linked to the H75.

I was diagnosing recently a computer that won't boot. It turned out the water block has leaked onto the motherboard around the CPU socket.
I personally wouldn't put a water cooler, but that's just me.

And where will we find the upgrade modules? At the mining hardware section at the webpage?

Noob question.  Roll Eyes Grin Huh

That's like 3am my time.....ug.

Doesnt' say if need to but our own heatsink also. KNC Loves to throws these little costs to the customers.

uh stop your trolling. orama said it comes with everything including the heatsink.

Are you serious dude?

Did your board already have the 5th/6th pin headers or did you have to solder them?

I have them on both my Jupiters.

have you tried it with 6 boards? what were your results?

Yes, it works, but because I have under-performing boards my results will not be good.
965  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: November 11, 2013, 11:59:37 PM
Yep, hashing like a boss:

966  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: November 11, 2013, 09:13:40 PM
Do you think you cant put 6 hashing units for one controller ?
Any body that has two jupiter already tried that ?

Nice, but that's 5 not 6 right ?

Yes 5, but 6 are working too. I have under-performing boards, that I left in my other Jupiter:

Jupiter 1 - 3 under-performing boards = 320GH/s
Jupiter 2 - 5 good boards = 700GH/s

The only thing I did is just move the ribbon data cable over, so now I can't close the lid, because of the cable spanning between the boxes.

If anyone is interested I just made a good visual inspection on my miners to see how they are attached and it looks they used Arctic i30 and not A30 Wink

A30:

Important question: Are those upgrade modules individually tested or there is still chance to get one with completely disabled die?

I don't think KNC will guarantee you will get a fully working one  Cheesy
970  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: November 11, 2013, 08:32:33 PM
Does anyone know if Arctic i30 can be used instead of A30?

The only difference is the mounting plate.

Do KNC use a custom mounting plate?
971  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: November 11, 2013, 08:14:26 PM

I just fixed one by attaching it to my fully working Jupiter. Imagine my surprise.
KNC should hire me as an engineer, because I managed to fix it, while they are still chasing ghosts.

Now you should better understand my reluctance to send them:

Cool, don't send that one. Wink

I can't close the lid, because of the cable  Grin
It is a very unsafe environment.

My point was: it can be fixed by firmware, because it is now obvious that each board likes different firmware.
If only they could do something different than asking to RMA.

limit of 200 upgrade units. so is this 28TH total? is my math right if each unot is 140 Gh/s ?
28 Th/s would be a drop in a bucket...

Agreed.  The Nov preorders will be two orders of magnitude more.  It is likely the "left overs".  They ordered so many hosts, cases, etc, used their inventory of parts to build the Sept/Oct/Nov orders and they came up with 200 extra boards.  Sell off the lot.  Why not? The value of ASICs goes down over time.  Why wait for the next batch just sell them off for less?

It was always the case of what volume of RMAs would occur once shipping commenced being an unknown. Also if there was to be any yield issue beyond firmware, so there was in essence a float of modules kept.

Now that's complete, the surpless can be sold as the promised upgrades, and priced fairly.

I truly hope you are keeping 4 modules in stock for mine as I'm sending them some time in the near future.

And I determined with certainty that in fact the problem is in the software and not hardware, yet my only option is RMA.

Cyper there are four modules for you as I said, but you're dicking around not sending them! Wink

So will the Jupiter run with 6 modules? With what PSU?

Yes, I'm currently running 5. I tried 6 and it works.

I thought the firmware was locked to 4?

Yeah some people only have 4 physical ports...not sure how they will handle that.

Check it out: http://img812.imageshack.us/img812/7563/quua.jpg

And this just proves that my bad boards are in fact not bad - they just need the right firmware.
These 5 are: 4 good + 1 that was hashing at around 100GH/s inside my 2nd Jupiter.
So I I just moved the data cable to my 1st Jupiter and voila = it looks like it is hashing like a beast.

Kinda lame that the extra $950 modules are BTC only.

2.65BTC for a 140GH/s module.

Can you mine 2.65BTC back?

Also do they come with the heatsinks and everything?

Got a better picture now:

3.3thash of Black Arrow Bitfury Boards [R9-12]
1 KnC Jupiter
2x 48 port switches
Lots of PSUs

Why do you have an extra Jupiter lid?

Does anyone know if it is OK to connect 2 of my modules from Jupiter 1 to Jupiter 2. I will move just the ribbon data cables over, so Jupiter 2 has 6 modules connected to it, but 2 of these are still powered by Jupiter 1 PSU.

Anyone?

I am sure you'll eventually try it, so let us know how it goes!  I am suprised you have a board that actually supports 6 connections, my day 1 jup only has 4.

I just did. 6 boards using all 6 connection, using 1 V850 PSU.

Good to know. Thanks for testing. I asked KnC support if it was possible and they said the firmware did not support 6 modules  Huh
What's the hashrate for 6 modules ?

Well it is currently increasing.
The 4 boards together were hashing at 565GH/s stable. I added 2 more from my under-performing miner (420GH/s with 3 hashing at around 107GH/s and 1 at around 100GH/s)
So I expect the 6 boards to reach around 770GH/s which might not happen, because:
Jupiter 1 (the good one) was using 0.98.1 Beta provided by Bitcoinorama = 565GH/s
Jupiter 2 (the bad one) was using 0.98 = 420GH/s. It was even less with any other firmware.

me too, it can work like that

Probably, but I am just testing my under-performing boards from my other Jupiter.
I also just shut it down and connected another PSU just to be on the safe side.
