9621  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Checking wallet availability on: April 27, 2020, 11:30:12 PM
Hello, How can I check if a cryptocurrency wallet on the stock exchange is available and can send crypto to it, preferably via the stock exchange API. Is it possible to check or how to estimate how many coins will be sent from the exchange to another exchange, or what is the average time? Greetings. Thanks in advance for your reply.

When dealing with exchange, you are not exactly under bitcoin blockchain's consensus rules. You are under that exchange rules.

As soon as you open your exchange wallet and you can see a bitcoin address, your wallet is usually active and you can send/receive coins from that address (but you need to check information on the exchange you are talking about ofc)

As soon as your bitcoin deposit arrives in the exchange, the bitcoin is under their power and they decide what to do with it.

If both the exchanges you are dealing with are reliable, the average time for your transaction shouldn't be more than 1 hour.

You cannot estimate how much time, but you usually exchanges have two withdrawal options: Fast and high fee X Slow and low fee.
9622  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum on: April 27, 2020, 08:48:43 PM
Please tell me, I just created a wallet in Electrum. Is there a restriction on how much I can bring bitcoins there or not?

There are no restrictions. You can put all bitcoins you want in the same address/wallet.
However, as mentioned above, the biggest limitation is the security.

Unless you are a very experienced user who understands about cyber security, you should really consider buying a hardware wallet (specially Ledger or Trezor).

Hardware walelts are cheap, less than 100 bucks, and your coins will be 99.9% safe.

Electrum is a very good desktop wallet, however, we are human beings and we make mistakes. You may click in a phising website, a suspcious link, someone may infect your computer with a pendrive with viruses and so on... All those situations may expose your funds to hackers.

9624  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Blockchain Phishing on: April 27, 2020, 06:04:08 PM

Good catch. You can see that this domain is clearly not blockchain.com

It is very important to double check addresses of online wallets, exchanges, and even this forum (there are known phising sites taht are perfect clones of bitcointalk.org).

Most important now is to block that sender and make a throw away e-mail for all those websites that you need to sign in. Don't share your personal email with any website, as your e-mail is a great vector of phising.
9625  Economy / Exchanges / Re: COINMAMA is HORRIBLE and other US options on: April 27, 2020, 12:57:15 PM
I`ll be adding all the US services and options and write a detailed review after this CoinMama situation is resolved or not and update here.

I am not from US, but I know Coinbase is the most popular exchange there.

I was able to transfer money from US to Bitstamp several times in the past, about 3 years ago. I never had problems with that exchange at the time. I don't know their situation now, but they are one of the oldest exchanges around and I never had any problems with them.
9626  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: I can send from electrum, I can't import private keys (empty keys) on: April 27, 2020, 11:30:25 AM
I would question why you are importing keys from Electrum to blockchain.com though? Blockchain.com is a web wallet, and one of the worst in terms of security. There's also very few good reasons to still be using legacy addresses, and you will pay higher fees if you do.
The only advantage of legacy addresses is being able to sign messages that can be verified in every software. Certainly not OP  situation...

The question is, is it higher risk in importing one private key to online wallet or in mobile wallet?

When it comes to security, there is no big difference from other online wallets. I have account there for years with enabled 2FA (email), and I never had any problems. It's not always just a matter of what you use, but how you use it.

Mobiles are safer
The problem with online wallets such as blockchain.com is that the keys are in their servers. Those can be hacked. Also, your email can be hacked, or their website may have a security flaw... there are more ways to be hacked.

In a mobile wallet the private key is only in your device. Hacking your email or server or whatever won't leak your keys.

Only because you were never hacked, doesn't mean you use it well. I also have a blockchain.com wallet for years and never had problems... but that might just be luck.
9627  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What type of wallet is this? on: April 27, 2020, 03:59:04 AM
Hi can someone tell me what is this thing that someone sent me file name is called electrum? Is this keystore or wallet like thing?

This is just a file with a bunch of public addresses and the xpub key (a seed that can generate all of the public keys of a wallet).

There is no need to worry about it. All those addresses are native segwit.

Quote
 },
    "keystore": {
        "cfg": {
            "mode": 0,
            "pair": ""
        },
        "derivation": "m/84'/0'/0'",
        "hw_type": "ledger",
        "label": "",
        "type": "hardware",

According to this part of the data, it was probably generated from a ledger in an Electrum wallet (you can use ledger hardware wallet on Electrum software). However, only public keys leaked, so funds are not compromised. Theoretically, private keys never leave a ledger nano device.

Derivation m/84/0/0 means that all addresses are native segwit.

I've already clicked the file. But I'm using phone. Do you think it's possible that my phone is now tainted or compromised?

No, unless something else came with that file.
9628  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [JOKE NEWS] Ripple lambasts Bitcoin and Eth, showcases XRP as most eco-friendly on: April 27, 2020, 03:54:23 AM
Ripple published a commemorative report about the Earth Day anniversary, briefly explaining the sustainability of various currencies and their environmental impacts, showcasing XRP as the most eco-friendly.

Eco-friendly? We don't want a eco-friendly coin.
We want and we need a people-friendly coin. Know what that coin is? Bitcoin and only bitcoin.

Probably Visa is "eco-friendly" as well.
9629  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can BTC really be a safe haven? on: April 26, 2020, 10:52:35 PM
Currencies are not only traded on forex markets. You trade your currency every time you buy a coffee or whatever, or even if you buy Bitcoin or stocks.

Additionally, in currencies order books can be viewed as extremely thick. If you buy your coffee, you don't set a limit order 2% below of the real price, but instead buy instantly at a value very close to the price, because you assume the price of these goods are fair and won't change during the day (there are exceptions to this rule, like hyperinflations, of course).

When you buy a coffee with bitcoin, that volume doesn't show up in coinmarketcap or whatever website. This reported volume is only for exchanges volume, this has nothing to do with blockchain transactions.

All this volume that happens on-chain is not reported in the volume or liquidity we are talking about here.

Quote
That is one of the main reasons why currencies are so stable and are seen often as a "safe haven".
Only USD is considered really a safe haven, maybe euro. The rest of the 100 fiat currencies out there are really not a safe haven. The currency of my country just lost about 30% value against USD in this corona virus crisis.

Quote
Bitcoin still can't really count with that advantage. If you sell >100 BTC often you already move the price.
I strongly disagree with this, and all data provided by all websites like coinmarkecap shows exactly the opposite: We have a daily  46 billion usd volume, which is like 4,267,041 BTC daily!!

100 btc is nothing here, as we get new 3000 BTC everyday just from mining.

Quote
Those who want a "safe haven" status have to find other reasons, like its scarcity or the "stock-to-flow" theory, but these reasons in my opinion are not convincing enough to last long term and sustainably - altcoins show that even very "scarce" cryptocurrencies can erode completely.

So an increase of liquidity is still top priority for Bitcoin is important if it wants to become a safe haven in the same way than a fiat currency. (Gold, as I wrote, is completely another story because of its millenia-long tradition as value storage.)
Well, we can agree that we disagree. Wink
9630  Economy / Speculation / Re: Machine Learning (Keras LSTM and K-Clustering) to predict Bitcon Price on: April 26, 2020, 07:19:25 PM
Nassim Talem himself said that coronavirus was by no means a black swan event, and that he and others have predicted it long before it happened. And it wasn't even a hard prediction to make, China is responsible for multiple outbreaks already, and it will happen again, unless they seriously stop this wildlife meat trade, which they probably won't, as they have already reopened their wet markets.

Thanks for sharing this article. I didn't know about it..
Anyway  even if corona is or not a black swan, it could not be predicated by any trading algorithm.  Real world events affect bitcoin price, this is why all ta fail in mid term imo.
9631  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: My F****** Story With KRYPTONO Exchange on: April 26, 2020, 05:51:09 PM
Instead of creating a new thread, you can just move the topic to Scam Accusation board.

click on the bottom left side of this webpage. You will see a link "move topic". Just click it and chose the board you want

I used an image i found on google, jsut click on "move topic" and not "lock topic"

About your scam accusation:
You should always avoid to use small exchanges. An exchange XRP>BTC can be done in almost every exchange in the world, you shouldn't use a small one. Binance for example is much safer.

You could also try, in the future, swap services like InstaSwap, Easyrabbit,  Coinswap, and many others...
9632  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: I can send from electrum, I can't import private keys (empty keys) on: April 26, 2020, 03:27:18 PM
Your request a little strange.

Electrum wallet is much safer than Blockchain.com wallet. You are downgrading...

I recommend that you do not do this.

if I take the "private key" and want to import it on blockchain.info it showed me that the key is empty. How to solve the problem?

About your question. You probably got the private key from the wrong address. Are you sure you took the private key from the address with balance? Or are you using electrum SEED? Electrum seed is not compatible with blockchain.com seed.

You will need to get the private keys of each address separately. Just click this button:

https://www.quora.com/How-do-I-get-the-private-keys-from-my-electrum-wallet

Never share your private key with anyone. Anyone who have your private key will have access to your funds.

Alternatively, Can't you just make a transaction to your blockchain.com wallet?
9633  Economy / Speculation / Re: Machine Learning (Keras LSTM and K-Clustering) to predict Bitcon Price on: April 26, 2020, 03:15:09 PM
You can't predict when a virus will mutate and spread,but you can predict how it will spread.

Ok, so you are proposing to protect yourself for the next pandemia, which will happen like every 400 years or so.
Or the next big earthquake which may affect california in the next months or maybe 200 years?

Or should this AI prepare for the situation while Trump  get Alzheimer and made some shit?

What I am saying is that the world cannot be predicted. And the world affects bitcoin price a lot (por positive and negative).

Maybe a world war will be good for btc. Or it can be the end. Who knows?

As you said, next 3-10 hours is ok to try to predict. But you can't do much about longer periods. This is not something I invented, this is an old discussion in traditional financial markets.

Those random events of high impact are called Black Swan events, you can google about it later. This term was created by Nassim taleb, who actually loves bitcoin.
9634  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can BTC really be a safe haven? on: April 26, 2020, 03:04:32 PM
I don't think that it's even comparable, come on. Gold can be stable for years and huge changes there are still very small ones if compared to Bitcoin. I don't think calling gold 'volatile' is correct in this context.

Can't call gold volatile? Gold has high volatility, it is not stable against USD.

in the last 1 year gold was up 57%, while bitcoin is  46%.

57% man! In a single year. That's pretty high volatility. Since 2014 it is 260%!!!

260%.

Gold stable for year? Tell me one stable please...

There will be new acceptances in the next 1-2 weeks.
And assuming previous shortlisted users do not need to apply again? As far as, I can recall I was in the shortlist :-P

I have applied so many times, I was already in 2 or 3 shortlists lol
fingers crossed!

Edit: made a new application because I couldn't find my old one:

Code:
Username: bitmover
Post Count: 4178

9637  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What's the best way to buy a few thousand USD worth of Bitcoin or USDT on: April 25, 2020, 09:34:02 PM
As others already said, Coinbase and Binance are a good choice.

If you encounter any problems related to your VISA or any other documents there, I will suggest Bitstamp. I used bitstamp a lot about 2 years ago. I made many SWIFT deposits there and never had any problems.
9638  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is blockchain/cryptocurrency the most profitabile new emerging industry? on: April 25, 2020, 09:31:13 PM
If you're looking to invest in something or if you're looking to start a business which yields most profits, first you must find out if you're in the right industry.

In today's world there are a few cutting edge new emerging industries that are talked about that could make the big impact.
BIG impact yes, but can they make you big profits. Of course every industry can, but which one can make you the most profits, like internet did back in the day.
Is it electric cars, solar energy, Robotics, 3d printing... etc.

Can you name at least one blockchain related company which is having big profits?

All those ICO out there and projects may be making profits from their tokens. But that's only speculation: Those companies are not profitable. Actually, those companies aren't make any money , most of the time. Most of them are just a whitepaper with a lot of promises, but zero real life products.

9640  Economy / Speculation / Re: Machine Learning (Keras LSTM and K-Clustering) to predict Bitcon Price on: April 25, 2020, 09:05:00 PM
Would it predict corona virus? Oil crisis?

It could if you include fundamental analysis, but you cannot predict it exactly, ofc.

Nobody predicted corona virus. Things like that are humanly impossible to predict.
This is not related to fundamental analysis of bitcoin, but real world issues that affect everything.
