981  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: BitSafe - Bitcoin Savings Bank on: September 03, 2015, 09:29:31 AM
Bitcoin bank?

The whole reason behind having bitcoin is that you can keep it with yourself without having to rely on third parties to do it for you, your project is against everything bitcoin was meant to be. So I can't say how many people will like this idea, it's like turning bitcoin to fiat again and I don't like it one bit. And there is no guarantee that you won't just run away with the money when you have accumulated enough. No offense but as of now this seem like another Ponzi attempt.

984  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many of you feel ashamed for recommending Bitcoin to family & friends? on: August 31, 2015, 05:49:37 PM
No, I am not ashamed to tell anyone about it, but I don't tell them to invest in it, I tell them to see it as a technology, a way to control your own funds but at the same time I do tell them about the price fluctuations and that they should read more about it and only buy it if they understand what it is. I think telling someone to buy bitcoins because it will sky rocket in future, is not a nice thing, they should be made aware that it could go up or down and they should make their own decision.
985  Other / Off-topic / Re: Use of smileys/emoticons on: August 31, 2015, 05:39:01 PM
They're awesome. But there are not too many to choose from and I avoid them because they don't always say what I want them to say. And it depends on the topic, if it's a serious topic, best not to use them as that looks unprofessional.
986  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling. Is It Wrong? on: August 30, 2015, 02:41:05 PM

987  Economy / Services / Re: Signature set/ Avatars needed for 2 Sites competition on: August 30, 2015, 02:27:49 PM
I was going to ask this.. There will be a prize for the Avatars (each) and signatures (each set)

I was going to see what people would want prize wise and set it at that.

Actually it depends on your budget and if you check out this section you'll find some earlier sig design competitions and based on that you can set a prize for it. You also need to specify if you want the signatures for all the ranks or not.

Campaign managers I can recommend, ndnhc, hilariousandco. GL with your competition
988  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This is the kind of news that gives Bitcoin a shady reputation... on: August 30, 2015, 02:22:26 PM

This is the kind of misleading title that the media shouldn't print. This guy was actually recruiting on behalf of ISIS and bitcoin was just incidental to the story.
Sure, this headline draws more eyeballs to the article, but the editor should think twice before clearing a title like that.

True, I bet people have sent money to ISIS using all sorts of methods including Paypal, but I have never read a headline about someone helping ISIS with Paypal donations. Twitter is full of accounts promoting ISIS, but you don't get the media blaming Twitter. It's a cheap sensationalist headline and t's not going to put people off Bitcoin because people will see through it.

Exactly, I don't see how this should harm bitcoin's reputation in anyway, if someone is helping terrorist he'll go to Jail, it's as simple as that. What means he chose or how he helped them is irrelevant, it's funny how whenever there is bitcoin related to a crime, they stop blaming the actual criminals but put the blame on bitcoin.
989  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitcointalk Escrows [Updated Daily] Trade Safely! on: August 29, 2015, 05:30:53 PM
Basically the escrow is the middle man that keeps both parties safe during the trade.

Say that User A wants to buy an item from User B, but neither want to send first for fear of the other not completing the deal. The escrow steps in and keeps both people safe during the trade. Here is how it works...

How escrow will help, if User A received the item but tells that he did not, and asks his money back?

Dealing with physical goods is tricky and most escrows won't deal with it as it involves the risk you mentioned and the solution for that is an escrow can lay out terms in which he will receive the goods first and then send it to buyer but that requires escrow to give out his personal info, such as name, address, telephone etc. and which is why most of the escrow refuse to deal with physical goods. As far as digital goods is concerned they can be tracked and buyer can't claim that he didn't receive the goods.
990  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: August 29, 2015, 05:22:16 PM
2 days match has been played and India is betting for her first innings 292/8.There are clear indicators that this match will be ended in draw.So I would say draw is favorite to place bet on if want to make some bucks.

It looks like that but 3 days are still left and anything can happen, if I were you I wouldn't place any bet on draw just yet. what if tomorrow SL loses early wickets when they come to bat? Anything can happen.
991  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Wallets for Windows Phone? on: August 28, 2015, 06:33:41 PM
Have you tried CoinSpace Wallet its in the App Store?
 www.coinspace.ch

Well I haven't, I just checked it out and it is in the App store but have 0 reviews, I might try it but I don't know if I should use an app that no one else is using.
992  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk is it possible to separate businesses and gambling discussion? on: August 27, 2015, 01:16:59 PM
just stop all the signature campaigns like your own one, they only create a bad signale/noise ratio.

check the people posting in those uselss shitty threads you've linked. it's account farmers, post hunters and almost 100% paid siganture shills.  Roll Eyes

there is no need for a board/section restructuring, just stop the crappy marketing.

edit: checked a moment ago, I think betterbets isnt doing a sig campaign, so you're of course excluded from my rant and I apaologize for including them.

Ok. Let's..

I see this idea being thrown every now and then and let's give it a shot. Let's kill all the signature campaigns and let's see if that bring about peace back into this forum. Infact how about we make a rule where you're allowed to be a member of the forum but you're not allowed to post, we'll call it "hail hitler rule". Just scroll through pages and see them read them and then bugger off, you're not allowed to discuss or give your opinions at all. Ow that will bring back complete harmony, will it not?

The other forums are dying of thirst for members and this forum has more than enough and just because some of them are posting crap others should take the toll for it, right?  I don't care, kill 'em all and shoo all the people away, who needs them anyway.

As for other topic, I don't like this new board idea but at the same time I don't mind, let's give casino owners a place where only they are allowed to advertise their sites and no other discussions shall be allowed.

994  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Older means wiser (gambling wise)? on: August 26, 2015, 02:39:16 PM
I played Bingo (not on your site) but in one of the local parlours and surprisingly it favors the old Cheesy I mean they were winning one after the another.

I never won anything, I tried a few times and then went away, I think there is the social aspect plus it's a little slow paced game and which is why you don't see too many young people keen to play Bingo.
995  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcoin price fluctuation on: August 26, 2015, 02:21:58 PM
How does bitcoin price fluctuation effects your gambling?
Can this fluctuation be considered as kind of gambling as well?

Yes Bitcoin price fluctuation can influence you betting suppose you had lost 10% of your money and next day price increase by 10% then you are even-steven Wink

Well that rule only applies if and when you decide to sell them, until you don't sell them the bitcoins you have remain of same value, it's only when you exchange them to $ is when you're affected by the price.

For ex. I have 2 bitcoins, I bet and win 2 more, now I have 4 but the price drops to half, did I lose half of my money?? technically yes but only if I decide to sell it then and there, but if I don't I still have 4 bitcoins and there value could go up in future, what if it doubles?? did my money doubled? again, only if I decide to sell it.

But in a way, investing is sort of like gambling in itself therefore it can be said that keeping bitcoins is like a gamble?
996  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: Why there is free btc faucet? why its existing ? - are deez peoples rich? on: August 26, 2015, 02:13:38 PM
No, they are not rich, it's a business of give and take. They give a few satoshis and you view paid ads on their page, which is why most of them don't allow you to have adblock enabled and then there is a little income for them when you solve the captchas.

But the money they make from all this hassle is barely enough to keep running the faucet so it's pretty much useless for the owners as well and which is why the faucets dry up and die sooner or later.
997  Economy / Gambling / Re: Betcoin.ag slow-pay for 35BTC, possible stiff book on: August 26, 2015, 01:57:18 PM
You have win only 1 parlay and win 25 btc? Most site don't permit to win more of 10 btc with only 1 bet.
This is a first alarm of seriety of bookmakers, accept all bet and later don't pay

I think even the sportsbooks should be asked to provide proof of their funds by showing their cold storage address which contains the BTC so that users can know that the website does have the funds to pay for the bets. It doesn't necessay promises that the site will pay but atleast it proves that the site is well funded.

But do note that we should not jump to conclusions yet, the OP hasn't been online since then and hasn't provided any solid proofs that this really happened.

Absolutely not!!

Voted btw Tongue
999  Economy / Economics / Re: What do you guess about he future of bitcoin? on: August 25, 2015, 03:45:38 PM
At this point with all the XT drama happening and devs fighting each other over control, all I can say is bitcoin's future is uncertain, I hope that it becomes bigger than what it is right now but I really can't predict how will it be in future.
1000  Economy / Gambling / Re: Betcoin.ag slow-pay for 35BTC, possible stiff book on: August 25, 2015, 03:40:51 PM
Last Thursday I deposited 10BTC and won a parlay for 25BTC.  They locked out my account and haven't paid.

This site is clearly undercapitalized or outright thieves.

STAY AWAY
Can you post a screenshot of ur account is locked and post your bets and your bitcoin payments links. Why didn't you use directbet.eu?? It is the best one out there.

Regards,
Joust

-snip-

The bet was a 4-team round robin parlay for 6BTC.  It settled with 3 winners + 1 push and then they locked out the account.

Can you show the betting slip? If this is true then this is really bad and I suggest you move this to scam accusation section but only if you're ready to provide more proofs.
