In all honesty imsaguy, you are still in the running for these.

This is being a most difficult sale to make considering the breadth of offers I have to sift through.  They generally fall into three camps: you have the lowballers, those without direct funds, and those without BTC.

The range of offer types is staggering, things I would not have thought of to trade are being offered in lieu of BTC. (thank goodness no kidneys) Wink  Offers do drop out as well so the high person today may not be high person tomorrow. Currently I am waiting on one serious finalized offer from someone and then hopefully I can put this to rest.

So to all people interested I apologize for any perceived delays but I am working as diligently as I can on this when I have free time. Thanks.

Well, as I stated originally, my offer was based on me receiving these on June 8, 2012.  That is going to be pretty hard to accomplish at this point.

Well I agree the forum shouldn't be used for bad things, but part of bitcoin is that it is anonymous and uncontrollable...  Undecided

Perhaps, but this forum isn't anonymous and it is controllable.

If you have all the information that you need to prove that 'fake claims' are a waste of time, then why not pay out already, even if its only fractional until the backup funding arrives.  The only way to make fake claims a waste of time is that you can dispute it.  If yo have strong enough data to dispute, you have strong enough data to distribute.  Get to it.

I was bidding on these, but he claimed to have a higher bid.  I'm waiting to see who won or if I was secretly being gamed.

Cablez is straight up legit.....you won't find a more straight forward guy.

I highly doubt he is trying to game anyone.  Just FWIW......

Fair enough.  I'll strike my second comment.

This is where I ask Maged to verify if the person who claimed to buy the gear just happens to have the same IP as the seller.

Next up, CDOs (and synthetic ones!). Let's see if we can replicate the mortgage crisis, guys Smiley

ROFL!

Anyway, sort things out and let speculation to begin... (Stacking my coins...)

PS. Can we have a little more info about you? it's just a nickname on forum now...

Woo, zombie thread!

Is this going to turn out like Goat's buying LONG's on his own bond?

No.  I will refrain from purchasing as I don't need insurance against my defaulting Wink

It is insurance, but I know you have seen the math on if it is worth while or not. And yeah, it is great if you can get the PPT bonds at the right price (I have bought PPT bonds while selling my own pirate bonds!). However the insurance gimmick is something someone should clearly look into before they buy. The buyer clearly has the option to just hold 125 of his 500 BTC on the side thus being the same as the PPT insurance depending on the rate he buys at. The PPT bonds are not bad, just different than one would expect in my opinion. There are good rates to buy them at and all buyers have to do is work out the maths first. I did not mean to be negative towards your product. Sorry if it came off that way. PPT bonds also have a plus that the others do not. They are backed by many trusted members. So if just one guy runs into trouble the bonds will be mostly (or 100%?) covered.

You didn't mean to be negative, but you do call the product a gimmick.

The insurance fund is already set aside, so even if one of the original investors has trouble, it doesn't matter because the money is already set aside.  What happens when you have trouble?  Who is going to pony up the funds?
992  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: Bitcoin Savings and Trust on: June 08, 2012, 03:52:12 AM
I still don't understand what's going on here.  Ok, so I've got 500BTC I'm willing to play with.  What's next?
Given that even if you could get a referral, pirate is not taking on new accounts, your best bet is to look into the various pass through programs. There's one in my sig, but there are others also. Check carefully on the terms, because not all offers are alike.

Yup, some like the PPT bonds offer "insurance" others like mine (check sig) and Brendio's do not.

I'm digging the quotes... as if its not insurance or something.

Could you then present this address as a QR code so a live phone or other device could send coins to it?

Already on the to-do list, I'm currently poking around with the zxing QR code lib and should have something cobbled together soonish!

How can you copy the generated priv key or address ?

That could easily be a qr code as well.

Pretty sweet!  Thanks for this.

anybody got shipping notice email today?

Since it seems they are a small operation, I'd expect any, if any, shipping notices to be sent out literally after they are ALL shipped. So, probably at close of business...or even after hours. If the operations was larger and they had the staff to track it real time, I guess they could send out notices concurrnet to actual shipping events. Just my guesses on it.

Was that wrong? I didn't hear of anyone getting confirmations of shipments sent out later in the day/early evening.

Nah, just typical BFL.  They pop in and update when they want, being as vague as they want, ignoring as many questions as they want.  Meanwhile, the fan club continues to make excuses for them and berate those that haven't drank the koolaid.
996  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [ANNOUNCE] Casascius-compatible address tool for Android. on: June 08, 2012, 12:21:49 AM
So I've had this old Android phone laying around for ages and I kept thinking, what could I do with this? I decided one day that a simple app combined with airplane mode would make it an ideal offline brain-wallet, but no such utility seemed to exist. I finally got tired of waiting for someone else to get around to it and built it myself.

I introduce to you, the Android Bitcoin Address Tool:

It's pretty basic, but it does exactly what it was built for - it produces a Bitcoin address and associated private key from the an SHA256 hash of a passphrase. I also went to great lengths to ensure that the operations are bit-for-bit compatible with Casascius' already existing Bitcoin Address Utility as you can see from screenshot #2:

Same passphrase, same results.

It should be noted that this is very young code. I've done my best to trap for errors but it should be considered beta and just as with Casascius' utility, no warranty is implied. I also haven't implemented any code to validate Casascius-style SHACodes (Mini Privkey Format), so if you don't type your code correctly, that's on you.  Grin

Want to support the project? Donations of BTC are accepted at the address in my signature, or there's a 99 cent donation version available in the marketplace.

Want to peek at the source and make sure I'm not some nasty trojan-planting H4XX0R waiting to steal your wallet? Go grab my code from the GitHub repo and poke through it yourself (or wait for / bribe someone else to do it). BitcoinJ et al carry their own licenses of course, but my own code (the stuff in the .java files as opposed to .jar) carries a "do whatever you want with it I really don't care" license.

Questions? Comments? Feature requests? Shoot me a reply or PM and I'll do what I can - or in the case of feature requests, feel free to fork it yourself if you know a little Java.

Could you then present this address as a QR code so a live phone or other device could send coins to it?

Was an announcement necessary?  lol

Yeah, considering his involvement in different projects, it was.
999  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Leaving Bitcoin on: June 07, 2012, 08:39:53 PM
I tried this once too.  Bitcoin is just too revolutionary to forget about.  When you get rid of all the bitcoins thinking that suddenly the obsession will vanish when you do, you'll find it does not.  Especially when there's volatility in the price, whether it's on its way up or down.  Good luck, see you back soon!

You can send me all of your bitcoins if you want.  I'll hold them for you on a paper wallet, and give them back to you some day in the future, untouched.

A great number of singles will be shipped tomorrow.
