Using genealogy, we can roughly estimate the age of the earth, as stated by the Bible, to be 6500 years. The very top estimate would be close to 10,000 years, but that’s a stretch. Science has proven that the earth is closer to 4.5 billion years old. Radiometric dating has shown us this, and has remained consistent with lunar and terrestrial samples. In other words, we haven’t just tested this once in one situation, it’s been extensively tested. This isn’t a guess, or a hunch, there’s a substantial amount of evidence to back this up.

Unfortunately some people are so stubborn that they can keep themselves from believing the evidence even if it jumps up and bites them in the left eye.
BADecker will be along shortly to give us an actual real life example of such behaviour.

Probably best to use it inside Tails OS.

Too easy to leak your IP otherwise.

Besides, I'm not getting shot down.

LOL, yeah. Roll Eyes

If God exists then he is a BAD God a malevolent God, why would he decieve us like this? Why wouldnt he just show us that he exists plain and simple. Why would he let accidents happen or a baby dying when that baby hasnt done anything wrong? If heaven exists why doesnt he take us there already instead of making us suffer?

Your wasting your time with these questions. Religious folk have an arsenal of rehearsed answers to these. You need to ask stuff they are unprepared for.

Just wanted to let you know that the way you are using the word "Your," above, isn't correct. You should be using the contraction "You're," contracted from the word combo "You are."

Smiley

Oh. Is this relevant or are trying to score cheap points because your getting shot down in flames today? Cheesy

BADecker: Is the only proof the people need that bible is shit. Just read BADeckers posts.. no truth, no evidence, no proof, just shite spoutin from the most un-educated bible basher in history. Someone needs to tell him we're only entertaining him to see what more shite he'll spout about his jewish diety.. imagine.. a christian jew.. wow.. he's prob got a cross with a photo of himself stuck to jesus's face just to remind himself of his one fatal flaw.. he's a fuckin idiot, As his 'evidence' proves. Yeah BADecker, we know you are.. now hurry up and crucify yourself, saves us doing it for ya..

I know, I know. Now that we have figured out that God most certainly exists, you simply want to argue some about His attributes.

Smiley

The only thing we've figured out today is that you've secretly been an atheist all along. Cheesy

Nobody has complete faith in the existence of God. And one must have some faith just to live. The question is, do I have enough faith that God can use it to save me? I hope and trust that He will hold my faith strong enough that I will be saved. Why? Certainly I don't want the pain of damnation. But more importantly, I don't want to miss out on living in the New Heavens and the New Earth, with God, forever beholding the Greatness and Wonderfullness that He is.

Smiley

What's this got to do with my last statement? Your rambling.

Do I have to literally spell it out for you?

Atheism suggests there is no God. Nobody living has complete faith in the existence of God. Therefore everybody lives with at least a touch of atheism in him/her. Because of this, since I am living, there is a part of me that holds to atheism just like there is a part of you that holds to God. Secrecy has nothing to do with it... except that, though you seem to write the language very well, you don't seem to be able to understand much of what anyone says.

Nothing wrong with that. Your field of expertise simply lies elsewhere.

Smiley

Hold on. You've give us the green light to manipulate the definition of words! You can't have your cake and eat it BADecker.
Either:
A) We all stick to the standard definition of words.
B) We are all allowed to change the definition of words

We can't have one rule for some and other rules for others.
So what's it going to be? A or B?

Wow! You make reasonable sense here. And you are asking me to be your leader by making this choice for all of you?

 Cheesy

No. What I'm saying is if you choose to manipulate the definition of words such as 'scientists' and 'atheists' which you have endlessly here on the forum, you cannot protest when others do the same.

Not meaning to change the definitions of words. Simply explaining some details about the people who claim that they are what those words express.

Smiley

EDIT: However, if it takes a redefining of the words to do it, why not? I mean, it's about time that people stop hiding behind a bunch of deceitfulness.

Changing words about for your own gain is in itself deceitful.

@BADecker  How do you feel about the ancient gods? I'll pick one at random, let's say Thor? Do you believe in Thor?

What do you mean by the question "Do you believe in Thor?"

I believe that the real Thor was a capable person who people idolized. After he died, the story about him changed somewhat, over time.

Does anybody know about the real Thor? I haven't even been interested in him enough to look him up for scientific or archaeological details about who he really was.

But that isn't really what this thread is about, is it?

Smiley

Well this thread is about god, and Thor was a god. The thread didn't specify which god.
Why are you rejecting this god yet believe yours is the true one?
Surely your being Atheist towards the god Thor? Logical right

Since you are saying that I am doing something that you really don't know that I am doing, and that it appears that I am not doing by my post which you quoted, there is no real way to respond to your questions. Logical, right?

Smiley

That makes no sense.

It all revolves around this clear post of mine - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=737322.msg10718395#msg10718395. Since then, nobody is even trying to speak logically about my proofs. Nobody is even attempting to explain how my proofs are wrong. Everyone is simply doing a character assassination of me, or almost.
Well I spotted two holes in your "proof" speech straight away, but what's the point in engaging in a conversion about it?
Your mind is closed. Your eyes are blinkered. Your god exists, and everyone else is wrong. Period. End of conversation.

That's the reason nobody is bothering with it. They know they are just wasting their time.

I'd just like to say as well, don't make the mistake of tarring every religious person with the same brush as BADecker. His conduct on this thread has done religion a huge disservice.

I've met a few interesting open-minded ones in my time,  and had some interesting conversations. And I'm sure we both walked away better off from it.

Unfortunately a few bad apples (BADecker) spoils it for the good ones, tarnishing their name.

The sad thing about it for people who use political science in this way is, nothing that they say can change the facts. Sooner or later the facts prove themselves out. Often it is to the hurt of the people who would lie about the facts by trying to hide the truth. In this case, there will come a time when XinXan and LaudaM (along with any of the folks who act and talk like they do) will stand before God in the judgment. If they haven't changed their ways prior to that, they will be damned to Hell. I hate to see something like that happening. But, oh well, they asked for it.
Just because you got suckered in by this man-made scare tactic you wrongly assume others will succumb just as easily. Years ago this would of been a very successful method. Unfortunately (for you) the world has wised up to these underhanded methods.
Think about it. Why would someone start believing in a god to protect themselves from the wrath of the god when they never believed in the wrath in the first place!!!! The icing on the cake would be they then have to live in permanent fear of upsetting the god, a fear they never had beforehand, so they are worse off.

At least Bible people, who accept that the universe was set up as it is, by God, starting 6,000 years ago (like the Bible says), might be a little closer to understanding God.
Pssst.. I've heard a rumour that the earth is flat, but keep it to yourself. Wink

I have achieved what I've set out for: because of your weakness in wanting validation (and mostly stupidity), you have revealed your position as a paid shill.

I don't see how that's relevant to my argument here. He paid me to post on other forums; not this one. I'm doing this for free.

Let's be quite clear, your not doing it for free, your doing it to brown nose Popescu hoping he'll throw you a few scraps.
Good god man, sort yourself out, what the hell is wrong with you?

Still waiting for the scientific proof. After all the thred is called that. Almost 200 pages with ribbish? Where is the proof?

The problem with the idea of proof is, people are built in ways that make them so extremely stubborn that millions of pieces of evidence could jump right up and bite them in the left eye, and that still wouldn't be proof for them.

Smiley

Your not exempt from that as well you know.

Exactly, like it happens with evolution?? Mr BAdecker?? There are thousands of proofs of evolution yet seems like you are so extremely stubborn to keep believing the contrary

It's quite puzzling why BADdecker gets all aerated about evolution. There's still room for his god.
God could of sparked life in the beginning, and evolution could of taken over from there.
