Good job with the site Benson, the 0% house advantage will be hard for your competitors to match Grin Would like to see provably fair added in soon as users have already brought up.

Yea, 0% would be pretty hard to match unless they're making a whole lot on advertising.  At any rate I think they said it's temporary here.
Could go 0% house edge probably after the game pays for its build atleast.

Could but why would you?  Doesn't seem to be a very popular option.
Quote
Can also go 0% house edge if there is a sponsor who would like to use the site to advertise their products.
That's what I said.
982  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: bitcoinity.org/markets - live bitcoin price charts on: August 08, 2013, 08:39:59 PM
mtgox: http://bitcoinity.org/markets?exchange=mtgox (a bit laggy while their API is still not fully functional)
tradehill: http://bitcoinity.org/markets?exchange=tradehill

I just wanted to create some thread to collect feedback.
Ideas or problem reports are welcome.

Basically I just created it to have some live ticker on my unused 15" LCD (so it's kinda optimized for 1024x768 full screen), but since some poeple started using it, I'm developing it a bit more. More features coming soon.

I found this site after reading a thread where someone posted a screenshot of it.  Looks good, I like how the market depth chart is adjustable with zooming and the change bars time.  I think I will use this often.
983  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: List of ongoing scams on: August 08, 2013, 08:33:12 PM
1. "tmpb" makes a thread accusing every major site of being a scam
2. tmpb is himself, a scammer
3. Hundreds of idiots and trolls congratulate him for making this trash thread

I really don't see hundreds congratulating him.  Mostly just him and people like you arguing in this thread, maybe I have to reread it though.  It does seem like a popular thread.  Maybe he can add some of the recent scam postings and note that they're under review type of thing until he gets to take a closer look at them.  It also might help if it's noted which are proven scams for sure or not.
984  Economy / Economics / Re: The very sad truth about Bitcoin : It might die to gambling on: August 08, 2013, 08:26:46 PM
If you mean just-di(c)e. their profit are mostly gone to all of us small investors. Those coins are ust owned by another guy. And seriously. Jd is already good enough to let the coins circulate. Some whale loses their coins. Those coins goes profit to all little investors.

Think about how the coins go now bro.

Right now I think a few big investors have majority of the stake, so don't count them out.  Then there's some funds with a stake also.
985  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: U.S. Judge determines bitcoin is a currency on: August 08, 2013, 08:20:31 PM
I guess this paves the way for more regulations and other B/S as well.  Then again with all the trouble Mt. Gox was having maybe we're already at that point.
986  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Today Jul10-2013, soon we will witness an extremely high jump in difficulty on: August 08, 2013, 08:14:19 PM
Next difficulty estimated at 44 million so far, it's still some number of days away so could get a bit higher even.  Could see quite a nice jump this time.
987  Economy / Gambling / Re: Predictious.com | The Premier Bitcoin Prediction Market | Trade & Win Bitcoins! on: August 08, 2013, 08:05:39 PM
Was just browsing the site, and notice the events weren't sorting by which ends soonest as they normally do.  I assumed it was intended for them to be sorted that way automatically as there's no option to chose what it sorts by yet.  If you do add that option I would think sort by ending, sort by most popular, sort by newest added would make good choices.

Yes, it is now sorted so that the smallest bid/ask spread are shown first. We might add a way to select how to order the contracts like you are suggesting.
Ok, wouldn't have thought of that.  Was nice sorted by ending soonest since I mostly bet on short term ones.
988  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitstamp has taken over MTGOX on volume! on: August 08, 2013, 12:58:19 PM

I didn't know they were even close.  Well deserved by bitstamp, and a long time coming for the unreliable Mt. Gox.

Hi,
I've seen similar sites and I just don't understand it well enough. Say I want to say YES for an item and it theres a green "BID" price and a red "sell" price, which would I pick? I assume it would be the green one or something. And my payout would be 10? Its confusing to me. I wish they just said click here if you want yes, you pay this. Click here if you want no you pay this price. Payout is always 10mbtc. Please explain it for me, I apologize but would like to give your site a shot once I understand it better.

I don't like the way it reads either.  I would like it to say bid/ask(or maybe add this in parenthesis).  "Sell at"  is kind of strange for me.
992  Economy / Gambling / Re: Dexter will die, Walter White to jail. Place your bets! on: August 08, 2013, 05:00:25 AM

I saw that also.  It doesn't mean much with the market depth they have right now though.
993  Economy / Gambling / Re: BitBook.biz - Bitcoin sportsbook - Best odds - Very quick transactions on: August 07, 2013, 08:11:49 PM

Big Feature Update!

We are very happy to begin offering Live Betting on all MLB games!

Tonight BitBook will begin a Beta test for our live betting feature. Please check it out and let us know any comments, questions, or suggestions!

We will be offering live odds on all MLB games tonight. Here is how it will work:

  • Live odds will be posted at bitbook.biz/live
  • We will post odds during each half-inning break. We may miss a few breaks, but we should usually have odds
  • All bets will be settled based on the final score of the game

For our Beta trial we will have slightly lower max bets than normal, but soon we will be raising them.

Thanks to everyone for the continued support! We are very excited to release this and look forward to any feedback from the community.

Sounds good.  Going to try out the live betting soon.
994  Economy / Gambling / Re: Why are there constantly new dice games, and why do people play them? on: August 07, 2013, 08:06:30 PM
The title is a bit weirdly worded, I don't mean this in a bad way at all. But, I've been seeing a bunch of new dice games, you first had SatoshiDice, then PrimeDice,Just-Dice,Insanitydice(lol),Gigadice, etc.

Now, disregarding Insanitydice, why do so many people play these sites? I've checked PrimeDice,Just-Dice, and Satoshidice out, but I barely see any difference. Again, I don't mean this in a negative way at all, I am merely curious.

I think people are trying to capitalize on the success of SatoshiDice.  Also the gamblers are probably playing for fun when bored mostly.
995  Economy / Gambling / Re: BitArena | Online Bitcoin Arena | Season 1 Contest 1 BTC prize pool! on: August 06, 2013, 07:00:27 PM
Wish I could play, but too poor..

Then go to #arena on coinchat. Lower betting amounts.

Also, someone play today!

I'm guessing you're the current champ.  Maybe they can give prizes for top several on the leaderboad.

My point is that your return on a single bet is better than your return on multiple bets.  When considered as a probability.

For a given bankroll you will end up with more money by placing a single bet.

But this is an average over many possible outcomes.  An actual gambler making a single bet has one particular outcome, either wins or loses the entire bankroll.

Here is another way to state it.  If you took the average gain of all the people who make one bet only they would have a higher return than the average of all the people who make many bets.  And of course all of these people would on average have a negative return.

Now that I say it that way it doesn't sound correct.  This is why I avoid saying stuff.  I'll think about it later.

I can't find the post but about 20 pages before this one doog confirms that when you split a bet into two smaller bets, you end up with slightly higher EV

That's wrong, you would only have a better chance of winning at least 1 bet, obviously.   EV wouldn't change.  Also you can go for a long time with martingale, but the odds aren't any better.

Hello,

Bitcoin is undergoing a hard fork to Scrypt by block 256000.

You must take action by then: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=268902.msg2876840;boardseen#new

Not sure why you would post that in this thread.  Are you suggesting this as a bet on Predictious?
1000  Economy / Gambling / Re: 3-6dice.com||Free BTC giveaway||0% House Edge||Real dice rolls||Play and Win on: August 06, 2013, 12:57:36 PM
I'm taking a look at this.  It's a bit different than the other dice games, seems like it might be hard to win with the current rule set.  Not sure why it asks me how many games I want to play, when I can just withdraw or play as I see fit.
edit:  ok, I see it doesn't just let you continue with your winnings.  There's no way to check recent or pending transactions yet.
