Is bitstamp bugging out for anyone else? Tradeview is hanging for me. West coast N.America

EDIT: working again. Their servers must be under a big load.

I'm a little bit nervous to have the sign knowing it will likely lead to lots of conversations during my sales time.

maybe print out a card with some links, then you can politely say "yes, it is the payment method of the future, but I don't have time to bring you up to speed on it right now, please check out these links and do your own diligence...it is your money.

I have allot of people asking me to show them how to purchase BTCitcoin and how it works. I Always tell them to watch the movie: Banking on Bitcoin.

If they dont even want to spend an hour and a half to get to know how bitcoin works im not helping them. If they do watch it and ask me again later i do help them with setting up an account on Kraken and show them how it works. Grin

Thanks for the tips. Recommending the video is a great idea.  If this goes over well, I also have an online store that I plan to do the same with at some point.

So I think I'm feeling ready to make the move to accept bitcoin as an advertised method of payment in my jewelry business. I've been toying with the idea and suggesting it to customers for awhile now for the reaction.  In July, about 70% had heard of it, 1% had some but wouldn't use it, and around 30% who had heard of it said "not for me".  This week I noticed a much broader interest in bitcoin from my customers which turned into short conversations and several eavesdroppers approached me later to ask more about it.

My customers are largely middle and upper middle class.
I have a 17 day show starting this week and I've already printed the sign. BTCitcoin Accepted Here!

I think that is awesome! We need more local merchant acceptance. Just seeing the acceptance signs will start to change public perception of bitcoin. Perhaps you can even offer to help customers with setting up their bitcoin account and wallet.
I'm not sure I want to set wallets up for customers, I'm usually very busy but I'm thinking to offer a discount of 10% if they use bitcoin. More incentive! And yes, just seeing the sign will have a big impact even if I don't have any btc transactions.  I'm a little bit nervous to have the sign knowing it will likely lead to lots of conversations during my sales time.

Just got back from the bank, sending a wire transfer, un bitcoin related. What a load of crap.
After organizing all the necessary information, driving to the bank, 20 more minutes with the teller, meanwhile,  I had to listen to her tell me about a new package for easier money transfer by telephone with the bank bla bla bla, I got a terrible exchange rate, a $25 fee for the service, then they ask me "what is this money being used for?" It just slipped out.... "Tell them its none of their fu@king business and I'll do whatever the I want with it.
"Sorry, Its western union rules, we need to put a reason for the transfer.  Your transfer should complete in 3-5 business days, if not we'll call you".
I did take the opportunity to mention that it was dinosaur tech and how bitcoin will probably devour it.
Anyway exciting times watching it happen.

EDIT:  And the saga continues, no less than 3 phone calls from the bank today with "problems" in the transfer.  All sorted now, (I think) and it'll add a day to the transfer.
Just wow!
If it were just a bit simpler for BTC to be cashed in/broadly accepted. Right now it pretty much requires the receiver to be signed up with an exchange to convert back to local funds.  I heard some ATM's buy BTC for local currency. Know any in Moscow?

I knew that I should not have decided to dabble in trading again. I have 4 orders on GDAX trying to buy my BTC back with a nominal profit, and they are getting left in the dust. I only need a small correction back to 4220.00 USD to get all my satoshi's back. Thank goodness that I am only doing very small trades.

Damn, could you post another one with say... sub 3k price?

All banks in N.America will be open soon. Expect the drop then a sharp rise, then......

Has anyone else experienced buy or sell orders placed on Bitstamp that you didn't place?
I've had it twice now for sure and I'm positive I didn't place them unless I'm misunderstanding how it works.  The most recent one I bought using the buy button on the tradeview with "add if order".  Then I checked my account and it indeed did buy in 4 transactions. I then wanted to close another open order and noticed there were 4 separate sell orders placed 80$ above where I had just bought for the same amounts that I'm sure I didn't place even by accident.
What gives?

I'm using Stamp since 2013 and I never experienced such a thing. My immediate thoughts:

  • Check for API keys on your account and revoke every one of them, if any,
  • Open a support ticket with references to the orders you didn't place
Yes, there was an API key that I never created. Concerning Shocked     Why would I have an API key? Do all accounts come with one or do they need to be created?  Permissions were set for full control.

Everyone's been expecting the dump since 3k, Bitcoin loves to do the opposite of what everyone is expecting.

Average Joe just got interested in Bitcoin this week.  I suspect we will be bobbing up and down around 4k for the coming week until new money hits the exchanges. Then.... it will get real interesting.
1394  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 13, 2017, 12:22:20 AM
Have been watching the graphs today, and I think there will be no correction this time, no dip.

Two or three times I saw whales trying to dump the price, but it only got to the 3800's. They don't have weight anymore to do more intense dumps.

Price is on the 3900's and finding the usual psychological resistance on the triple zero. But I think this time it will break the barrier easily. The triple zero will not be considered a solid resistance as time passes, the four zero will be more likely to provoke corrections.

So let's accelerate this rocket to the 10,000's. Just accept it.

So.... a bigger player or several have entered, mass adoption has started, or both?

If that's true, its the same way we know JFK, 9/11, Oklahoma, Boston, Elections, etc. get rigged.  I'll bite on the conspiracy theory only because most every piece of big news never gets told at face value.

Thai justice is brutal. Who wants to be that snowbird sitting in a Thai jail for smoking a joint or calling the king a cock. Land of smiles, indeed.

Maybe we should start a new thread about:
-Where you can live large on the cheap
-saying whatever you want
-smoke whatever you want
I think that bitcoin gentlemen would appreciate.

Sounds like paradise. Cheesy
I want to move to a place like that as soon as we get closer to the moon!
I've got a friend who built a kind of residential community in Jamaica, she says it's almost like this - at least in the community village. I actually doubt it's all honey roses, though. Maybe I should ask her for more details.

Jamaica has many problems. One of them is the Caribbean Hurricane Route...
Maybe it will be the new country, "Liberland" with Vit Jedlicka. Maybe we ought to propose bitcoin as the national currency.

I first checked the $300 video.... after being horrified by the ugly apartment (not to mention the bathroom) I switched to the $600 one... Still horrified. Why would I want to be rich to live like that?

Maybe I am a bit picky about HOME and not that much about food, etc... donno. Is there any other videos for living a "rich" life on a budget there or something?

No idea. Like I said, living would be 3k per month not 300. When you start looking at higher costs it is more stuff catering to foreigners so the price can go up quickly.

My friend has a house with a pool and he figures 2k is enough.

Oh ok, then it isn't much cheaper than living in my country. Maybe it isn't even cheaper.

I supposse it looks cheap in comparison to living well in USA which, yes, it is really expensive and nice houses/apartments in premiun places are still incredibly  overpriced. Salaries are also WAY higher so I guess it is ok.

I've been living 50% of each year in SE Asia since 2001. Costs have gone up and in some places like Bali, a lot.  Currently I rent a 3 bedroom/3 bathroom house across from the beach in Vietnam for $350 a month (exclusive of electric).  It's not as nice as my house in Canada but its clean and safe with the added perks of weather and cheap food. The largest benefit to living there is the fact that I become way more active outside the house which would have been spent hibernating indoors had I stayed in the cold. I figure it costs me about 30% less to be in Vietnam than Canada for the winter.  I buy what I want and typically never need to spend more than $2000 CAD in a month.

So I'm heading off to thailand fully paid for by the free coins tomorrow, and I need a new suitcase. I'm thinking pink for easy visibility, but maybe an ugly yellow would work too. Thoughts?

Yeah... Why would someone go to Thailand instead of Las Vegas?
The fuck would I do in vegas except go broke?

Thailand is cheap, is not FUCKING COLD and has some of the best food in the world. Also, bargirls.

Besides the obvious, I'm very curious to see if I can make enough money trading bitcoin with the locals to pay for the stay. If so, why would I not live in a high quality hotel in a great country instead of a far more expensive apartment in a frozen wasteland?

Now you can buy residency in Thailand for 5-10 years or longer. I'm willing to bet other countries in Asia start to follow suit.

Jesus ... it costs a few hundred bucks to get a retirement visa, then a few tens of dollars a year to renew it. These packages do very little more for you unless you really want a work visa(?), lotsa spa appointments, maybe an annual health check etc. Lot of money for bugger all IMO.

Don't forget the economy in SE Asia is booming right now, especially Vietnam. Construction everywhere while citizens are gaining wealth and the new generations are becoming very educated.   It's kinda refreshing to be around.

Battle of the mini walls at BitStamp.

The sell walls are losing (being eaten) the battle atm.

It would seem as if some moderately high stash individual is taking some profit in a civilised way.

I'm thinking that the tapes are being drawn real gentle to encourage new buyers to enter in the 3k territory.
