Thought I would chime in here. I've been using cryptsy for sometime for my alt-coin trading activity as limited as they may be. For the most part I've found the exchange to be fairly reliable particularly the last 3 months onward I too have been hesitant to provide my personal details to them for account verification. I too have little doubt as to the their integrity but as mentioned in an earlier post nobody is bulletproof and should their system(s) get compromised by some unscrupulous hacker there's no telling how much damage her or she could do with this kind of information.
*Also a little disconcerting to me that BitJohn wasn't even aware that they do in fact require SSN for account verification (at least for US citizens). That really doesn't bode well with me at all.

Most consumer product laws, and I believe the UK's as well, have no issue with a product being better than promised, but not getting worse.
* They claim increased hash speeds, which is a plus
So far, that's the biggest positive they are providing. Aside from that, they're removing core features (which are still on their product page and design). That's what I'm pointing out.
As to the TOS, they still are outside of the law by claiming partial refund allowance, and by claiming they only take orders from businesses.
I'll say they are. One of the core features they have removed is the ability to hash! Essentially I've paid 100% of the cost of their 50MH unit's for nothing more than a series of drawings and empty promises. I suspect they will be cashing out my satoshi's and sipping mai-tai's by months end :/

Investing in CryptX sha or scrypt: Really bad idea!

0.00002086 BTC/share today.
lmao. Talk about a harsh reality adjustment. I've gone from thinking this asset would provide me with a decent weekly disposable income that just might grow a bit in value to a steady cheap cup of coffee everyday! Whoo hoo! Also agree difficulty will be ramping up here very soon. Enjoy these paltry dividends while they last fellas.

Absolutely amazing. Just when I didn't think that BFL could stoop any lower they come along and manage to get er done. Absolutely ridiculous company. Hopefully this result(s) in some sort of investigation that ultimately get's those felons shutdown. They've been bilking the bitcoin ecosystem for far too many years now!

|

Use Cocktail to schedule regular startup's with shutdown's issued after whatever time period is reasonable given how often you update your wallet and the speed with which your system/connection does it.

i just thought of a good name for a new altcoin

why would an individual want to get a "virgin coin" anyway?
Same exact reason they would want a "virgin" physical round silver straight from the mint. Never been used for anything illicit, no way to analyze blockchain for associations with other addresses. nice shiny condition, etc. :p

Might wanna checkout localbitcoins for sellers in your area. Probably going to pay a premium above current exchange rates but great for piece of mind knowing who your dealing with, etc. https://localbitcoins.com/country/ES

Cloud Hashing is a giant black box into which for every $100 worth of fiat or btc you put into, your likely to only get back 63-75% in a 6 month period of time (if your lucky). After time elapses you can then sell off said cloud hash for roughly 1/25th of it's original value. What a deal! Where do I sign up? lol

http://www.forbes.com/sites/ericxlmu/2014/07/12/major-chinese-exchanges-rolled-out-bitcoin-banking-services/Okcoin and Huobi, two leading Chinese cryptocurrcency exchanges, have unveiled their Bitcoin wealth management schemes recently. Right now both only take deposits from invited users, but at least in the case of Huobi, such restriction will be lifted at the end of the month. Apparently the two exchanges have put a great amount of effort in preparation for the services, for instance, both registered their investment subsidiaries in Hong Kong. Given that neither sites are charging fees from regular trading, this new investment scheme can be their hope to turn a profit. I love the use of the word "scheme". FYI, I'm reading this as a verb with regards to Okcoin and Huobi.

Oh, this would be genius. There's been talks of moving away from the petrodollar for years now. What if Bitcoin was the new petrodollar? Moon Andromeda galaxy, here we come!
Bitcoin doesn't have enough liquidity to be the currency that oil trades in, nor does it have a large enough market cap. ....Maybe in a few years though Agree completely. I suspect bitcoin will need at least a 15-20X increase in current market cap for any serious OPEC players to really consider using in lieu of USD. Just more saber rattling by the oil-jockeys imho.

But one difference between 2011 and 2014, the value of BTC. Hard to argue that, right?

Bit surprised by the 'profitability spurts' experienced with my few little rig's on nicehash during this past 24h period. Not that I'm complaining

Love the concept behind this coin alot. Useful application of all this computation power...what a concept. Submitted my vote on Cryptsy to get GRC added. Still quite a ways behind ALN, MED, and XRP but what the hell.
