41  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: things are reaching a boiling point on: April 02, 2017, 11:15:32 AM
Who ever mines BU will lose all the money they spent on mining it. So that 50% threshold means nothing. Any fork of Bitcoin will be attacked ruthlessly by those who have enough resources to destroy any miners foolish enough to try.

The large miners/pools know this. The April's fool joke is on anyone who believes that signaling means anything on Bitcoin. It doesn't.
I've awoken from my inactivity period to take my part in this pursuit.
Although economically we all understand BU has and never shall have any standing, a fork is incumbent and it's outcome is still obscure.
Core hasn't been keeping the system updated, and their refusal of further updates and generally increasing the Block size is alarming and drives support away. The bitcoin unlimited bound failure doesn't lift any responsibility away from the core devs...
That said, I am here to pledge my computing power and spare time onto the complete disruption of the forked blockchain, transaction, nodes and miners. I will play my role, when the day comes I expect others to join me.

-snip-
Update: No.
Either you are, or you misinterpreted my initial words. What I initially said "< 2 months", i.e. my statement had nothing to do with Segwit, but the release of the HF code as per HK agreement. Aside from that, I'm not particularly interested in "I won't do X, until you do Y" games nor the correlation between the releases.

And I just helpfully demonstrated to you how the two are intimately and inextricably linked together. You apparently just want to just stick your fingers in your ears and say “lalalalalalamycat”…

I will leave the decision up to you, gentle reader, if you wish to do the same.

That Lauda Girl is a joke.

Nevertheless, he (the prohashing guy) nailed a lot of problems he describes in this essay

This is just not true.  All of his posts (the prohashing guy) concerning Litecoin are pure fantasy.  He talks about how some huge changes will be made to Litecoin and/or how the market is going to be moving all over the place, either up and down, and pretty much every one of his predictions is a failure.  Litecoin just sits there with no changes to protocol or price doing absolutely nothing.

[/quote]

The altcoin market cap more than doubled within those last months when the bitcoin blocks became full.

On the other hand this time we will go into the halving with zero txs capacity increase!

First 3.6MB block mined on SegNet last week, and SegWit has been pulled to the Bitcoin repo. You've got no idea what you're talking about (as usual).

(p.s. don't waste everyone's time replying to me)

You can't be serious linking a "prohashing" post.  The guy thinks Ethereum isn't a crapcoin and is amazed the price is cratering and he's usually wrong on most other subjects too.

We have a 40 page thread of why Ethereum is conceptually and technically broken:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1361602.0

Nevertheless, he nailed a lot of problems he describes in this essay. And AFAIK Nick Szabo doesn't think that Ethereum is broken. I don't know, and I don't hold any ETHs.
I could also argue that Bitcoin is broken, and it is, if the actual situation (mining majority centralized behind the great firewall / development dominated by 1 company) will continue:

The situation with Bitcoin/USD seems remarkably similar to the one in late September 2013. A quick and violent runup is a few months old, and the price is nearing the levels where it collapsed (in this time I am referring to the $500 top last year, not to the ATH).

Volume is down, yet price is eking upwards. This is a very bullish sign. It tells that the supply is exhausted and buyers are trying to not fall upon each other. It can turn explosive (see Oct-2013) literally any day from now with all the symptoms of FOMO appearing in a few weeks, the ones that have been absent for "so long".

By "explosive", I don't mean $600 in 4 weeks, I mean something like $multiplethousands in 2 months, and in a less explosive version the peak would be higher and time a little longer but still during 2016.

Study the TA! (JJG  Wink ) Whenever there are similarities in charts, be prepared. Bitcoin rallies exactly when the general belief for a rally to happen is the lowest. I remember fondly that in Feb-2015 in the self-nominated World Bitcoin Elite meeting (Satoshi Roundtable I) was almost unanimously short in BTC. As you can see by checking back, the meeting was the turnpoint in BTC price, hopefully the delegates did not get burnt too badly and the rise was from their covering of shorts, not their burning  Grin

On the other hand this time we will go into the halving with zero txs capacity increase!
47  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Core version 0.12.1 released on: April 15, 2016, 08:14:02 PM
It should have been released in April to be activated before the halvening and having any impact as a capacity increase. It seems that you are the one that has no idea what he is talking about.
Again, says who? That is your opinion that it should have been released in April. Yes, they are a little behind schedule, but that is for a good reason. The code is being thoroughly tested and what bugs that have been found have had to be fixed before any release could be made. The testing process takes significant time and energy, and with the changes that have been made for BIP 9, 113, 68, and 112 and for segwit, a lot of testing and code review takes time to make sure that it is perfect.

Yes, such monster forks can't be rushed into existence. It was completely irresponsible to sell it as a faster scaling solution than a simple hard fork first before the halvening. We knew it and it's happening now.
48  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Core version 0.12.1 released on: April 15, 2016, 03:22:23 PM
I'm not sure how this "community support" is calculated exactly?
There is no exact metric that enables one to get accurate analysis of the community support. I have no idea how they exactly plan on "measuring" it.
They probably mean that they will be using a high threshold for activation and reaching that threshold means that a lot of miners will need to support the increase (and though them the community).

They told to those 4 miners that they will release a segwit scaling solution before the halvening. But they failed. We will go into the halvening without a capacity increase.
Stupidity in perfection.
What are you taking about. You clearly have no idea what you are taking about. Segwit will be released before July when the halving happens. The release should be on a few weeks.

That's an interesting question!

For sure it's not "calculated" by talking to 4 miners and a few companys, create a timeline and then tell everyone else to suck it.

Thanks for this release!
So now it pays off and the realization of lightning network is coming closer and closer.
Awesome! Smiley

LOL, yes, awesome, the LN Bankster Altcoin.

If third parties make decisions to take away your funds, then Bitcoin isn't money. I find it amusing that you call avoiding that, "centrally controlled".

money is centrally controlled.. sorry but thats the truth.

bitcoin is not money.. its an asset..

Yes.

Paul C. Martin:

Private property as de iure institution needs a foregoing state to come into existence. The state needs foregoing power and foregoing power needs armed force. The ultimate “foundation of the economy” thus is the weapon, where possession and property are identical because the possession of it guarantees property of it. Armed force starts additional production (surplus, tribute). The first taxes are contributions of material for the production of attack weapons (copper, tin). Thus non-circulating money begins. Taxes as “census” and money are the same.

Wanna post that here? Besides the fact that that post is full of incorrect statements, I don't want to post in that cesspool of a forum.

You seem to prefer a theymos ruled forum over an uncensored one. No surprise.
No, I prefer a forum where you can have a semi-intelligent discussion about the merits of the various software proposals instead of a forum where every single person has a bias towards one specific proposal and uses personal attacks and spreads misinformation about other proposals. Also, that thread is really freaking long and I don't want to read it and attempt to debunk all of the false information in one post.

LOL. You drive a personal attack against 'every single person' there by accusing all of them of using personal attacks. You are a joke.

55  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Classic or Core? Which one is better? on: April 02, 2016, 08:36:17 PM
Would it kill us to just *announce* an intent to release a version with 2MB (or even just 1.1MB) block size limit?

Yes, it would kill Bitcoin to reward the whining of the rage-quit brigade.  Thanks for asking!

and why then dont ban you? Our north korea leader left you as a great example of freedom? Men you must grow up.. There is no evil among us. You must look somewhere else to see where is the enemy. And the enemy come out of bitcoin community and is the traditional financial system that bitcoin break it 100 years  rules.
They will do whatever they can to block and destroy bitcoin.

LOL. Do you really think that I am not banned there?
58  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: All new nodes are virtual server ... attack in progress to switch to 2Mb on: March 16, 2016, 04:15:43 PM
Attack? I don't see it as an attack. Stop spreading unfounded panic
OP isn't doing that. This is the very definition of a Sybil attack. Maybe it would be best to get more information about it.

mehh, come on now, nobody is falling for anything.

its just couple dozen loud wackos.
Correct. According to the analysis on medium.com there is less than 300 people behind the nodes.

Which is 100 times more decentralized than 3 with Blockstream collaborating people in a totalitarian country.

ok i cant see clear your point now  Grin I think the best playground for you will be /r/btc Tongue

Of course, I prefer the libertarian forums. Only core cheerleaders prefer the totalitarian ones.

how can you keep all this pieces together? You are now in a core control forum that is more libertarian than the Classic control /r/btc/ that is completely trolland... Tongue

You seem to be someone for the forums run by the owner of r/northkorea (aka r/bitcoin) and bitcointalk.org

In this "northkorea" forum you have much more freedom from Classic forum to say whatever you like.

Yes, in that forum you have freedom from free speach. Hundreds of free speakers are banned there, and it's the preferred reddit playground of the blockstream/core society.
