Yeah this is quite common. Just imagine why would everyone wouldn't just do crypto if it was an easy rich scheme in the end. This is same just like in stock market and trading. There is just hell nothing of a way to be rich easily.

Usually I would just treat crypto investment as a side job, not something that I would really put my whole 9-5 into.
2  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What significant impact is expected of new members of the forum? on: February 18, 2024, 01:18:34 PM
Hello everyone, I'm only newly invited to the forum, and I must say that I've enjoyed every bit of the time I've spent here, especially on the beginners and help board because I was advised that as a beginner that's where I'll learn about things concerning the forum.

To be honest I'm amazed at the traffic and I've noticed that I could learn a lot from the forum. Also, I'm open to learning and pass knowledge in anyway I can, but I want to know how I can impact the forum, what core values does the bitcoin talk community needs? Or is impacting knowledge here only specific to a certain caliber of people or higher ranking members?

Like I said earlier I'm open to learning and I'll need answers from anyone so far you're telling me the right thing, I'll read everyone's reply and take note of everything you say cause I believe it would help me grow.
Good to hear that you're having a great time so far in the forum. There's plenty to learn and to be fair, even I with Sr. Member rank still has plenty to learn since there's just too many knowledge to learn in crypto as whole aside from me learning programming continuously that's why I am quite not frequent in posting lately.

I assume you're asking how can you "make" a good impact in the forum? There's plenty of spaces to give "great" impact. Got some techy ideas? We got Bitcoin Technical Discussion board.
Want to influence your fellow Bitcoiners in the same country as yours? We got local boards.
You can reply in my post to specify what specific type of "great" impact you wanted to give.
3  Economy / Services / Re: [OPEN] ★☆★ 777Coin Signature Campaign ★☆★ (Member-Hero Accepted) (New) on: January 28, 2024, 04:31:51 AM
Guys, why are you applying? The last post on this thread was on April 2022 and I don't see any announcement that this campaign is open again.

It is better to check first if there are updates or none when applying.
Probably confused this thread with BitVest which is currently running

10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are trading bots worth using in the cryptocurrency trading? on: September 24, 2023, 02:54:39 PM
And you are right about not believing on all of those bots that can be bought, using a bot only makes sense if a trader is profitable already and they can code, as in this way they can trade the markets every single minute of every day and not miss a single movement because they were sleeping or they got distracted.

However for some reason many people out there hold the idea that someone else is going to give up on years of research and trial and error and sell their knowledge for peanuts.
Programming these days starts slowly to become a common knowledge. Most of the people I encountered even non techy almost are at least familiar with simple syntaxes since it is almost like close to math knowledge that you learn in high school. Cheesy
At the most basic level coding is not very complex at all as the current coding languages use structures anyone can understand after a brief explanation, however once you begin to go deeper coding becomes a specialized skill only those in the known can understand.

Also coding requires logical thinking and the ability to convert a big problem into many smaller ones, and this is an ability very few people have naturally and it has to be developed through training.
Yeah, it's like just reading an English textbook when you learn the first few syntaxes (if, else if, else, while loops), but it gets harder when you get to principles and that's where complexity goes. Principles like OOP are kinda mindfucks when you get into its structure (inheritance, interfaces etc)

And yeah, it's not just logical thinking. When you code, you're not just coding but you are also solving problems well at least that's what I see to most of software engineers/developers.

It can process a large amount of data to meet the standards you set, but you still need to check it regularly because there is always the possibility of the bot encountering errors
Bots are prone to errors still. Remember when you can do the "pretend to be my deceased grandma" in ChatGPT? Not sure if it is still working these days as I never really used ChatGPT that much in my software dev work, but they were able to generate keys for various software like the usual operating system, Windows. Bots are still like an ongoing project and would continue to be just like any other software out there in the market. Bugs aren't going away by themselves.
11  Economy / Economics / Re: How do you deal with financial stress? on: September 24, 2023, 02:00:51 PM
~
Here in my country, it's not just the price that kinda screwed me up when COVID-19 was still like widespread around here. It was also lack of access to needs due to how hassle access to the needs are due to restrictions to certain areas. I was like preparing myself mentally that I won't be able to afford such needs due to how limited suppliers also arrived here in my area.

What I did was trying to freelance so that I wouldn't have to work so much outside other than my usual 9-5 job and it went just fine in my end.
How did I stay optimistic? By not being too positive minded since it will disappoint me in the end for sure. I know I am gonna screw up anytime and whatever happens, happens. It is somehow pointless in controlling things that you cannot control. For example, there's no point for me stressing out the cost of goods these days. I can just budget my stuff, but that's all.

COVID was hell, but at least it taught us including you OP on how to get past with that.
12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you feel when you look at your first Bitcoin wallet? on: September 24, 2023, 01:47:12 PM
~
Well back then I was kinda not really trusting myself hodling these wallets in my own so I relied on web wallets like Coins PH which is a localized crypto wallet here in my country. Kinda convenient to get myself started but as time goes by, I realized how unreliable web wallets are especially when you hold so much crypto that the people behind it might question why you're hodling that much Bitcoin and where did you obtain that amount.

Switched to desktop wallet that isn't connected to internet so that it would be pretty isolated to say the least. I felt more secured but not perfectly secured unlike when I tried hardware wallet. I also had the tempt the same way as yours but meh.
13  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Quality over Quantity on: September 23, 2023, 08:56:22 PM
Recently I've seen alot of threads where people just jump into writing an incredible episode without putting their readers into consideration.
I'm not a fan of reading very long articles and most times I think some posts ought to be simplified and summarized to get ease of attention and from my observation,  it seems most users confuse quantity with quality and think, writing very long post simply means the post has quality  which is wrong.

I've seen very short and straight to the point post doing extremely  very well on the forum and people ought to them learn from  them.
Yeah, I kinda relate as well in that, OP. I just want people to get into straight fucking point instead of just posting a wall of text that are obviously either copied from responses by ChatGPT or just plagiarized from a random article that they wanted to get clicks for their contents from.

It's kinda annoying and this is why I do not give merits to those kinds of posts. Usually those users are either merit-fishing or just padding their posts and squeezing the crap out of the content just to get more than the character limit that their SC requires.
14  Economy / Economics / Re: You can't meet all your needs/desires at once, even if you spend all your salary on: September 23, 2023, 03:50:35 PM
~
Well you got a great point raised there. Our needs are endless and they would continue being a need until we perish, but I feel like it is situational to just think of it that way since there are people pursuing to be financially stable like trying to build their business as they keep living paycheck to paycheck.

I believe the rich infleuncers out there doesn't have the money "in their hands" but rather in some particular investment that we either don't know or we don't care about at all anyway. People think that the net worth of billionaires is how many cash they hold, but it's really not.

It lies in the lack of planning. If you give a person a million dollars, all he will think about is buying things he does not need and trying to waste this money quickly. Even on luxuries, if the person is not accustomed to them, he does not know the level of luxury he is looking for.
Spending money must be planned, otherwise you are like someone who burns his money, and then you will not achieve happiness, but rather your worries will increase.
Depends on the person sometimes. Give a poor human that amount of money and s/he was dying to make ends meet, s/he could have put that money into better stuff. Sure the investment might not be the first thing that would come into his/her mind, but it's not going to be like the habit of a gambler dumping all of his/her savings in gambling.
15  Economy / Reputation / Re: Looks like a phishing attack! Should we avoid them? on: September 23, 2023, 03:32:06 PM
~
Well regardless if it was a phishing attack or not, you should never trust any links send by someone in any forms of communication. Back in the days that I was trying to do airdrops, some random email came through coming from the dev team of the airdrop reached out to me saying that I can now claim my tokens in their site. Turns out it was an attempt to get my PKs stolen.

Others input isn't only exclusive to this forun, OP. Stay safe out there!
16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Don't Just HODL But HODL Wisely and Securely on: September 21, 2023, 03:49:44 PM
~
Even by using Electrum, there are still ways that could screw your security that up. The reality is that you cannot really just trust anything. It's what the community recommends that makes us trust it. I read what you said about not being connected in the internet at all, but you never know what you'll plug in into your device. I might sound like a real paranoid, but there's just no real 100% security.

Everything has been built by someone through code or hardware. There is no perfect security, just lessening the risk of being hacked.
17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Don't Just HODL But HODL Wisely and Securely on: September 20, 2023, 02:49:12 PM
What sucks is that if most beginners just download a bitcoin wallet off Google PlayStore/Apple AppStore, chances are, they'd land upon an exchange wallet or a custodial wallet. The way bitcoin/crypto is now, you need to learn by mistake first lol before actually ending up diving deeper.

https://chainsec.io/checklist
Or just end up, buying shitcoin in a spiral due to them being referred by their friend. This happened a lot when NFT games were still like a hot topic here in the Philippines. Now that hacks happened, people were like lost now on what should be next regarding their lost coins.

Desktop wallets are okay, but connecting it to the internet is kinda a bit..... no-no
18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A matter of family conflict regarding Bitcoin. on: September 20, 2023, 02:39:17 PM
Well the husband is just deciding too poorly with his money. I wouldn't even invest if I was like in need of money at that point. 700k baht is like a million in here and that ain't a joke for a losses ya know.

Domestic violence is entirely just a holy crap scenario. Disagreements is just normal for couples, but physical stuff is just a hell no. I feel bad for the wife's family. That guy really needs help if you would ask me. Bitcoin is out of this topic. It could still happen even if it was just normal investment involving fiat currency.

The problem is not with Bitcoin, but with individuals who are not ready for everything related to Bitcoin. Bitcoin is open to everyone, allowing anyone to trade and invest in it, but not everyone can make a profit from Bitcoin. Obviously this is not Bitcoin fault, the main point lies in the individual awareness and patience when the price is not commensurate with the value of the asset when investing.
The dispute that occurred in the story you quoted teaches us to be more mature and think positively about all the risks that can arise from every investment. If you are not ready to take risks, don't ever enter the world of investment.
Yeah this is entirely true. Not everyone is just up for the volatility of Bitcoin. It can be accessed by anyone, but the problem is that people think that it is just way too easy.
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Mainstream coins or altcoins? on: September 19, 2023, 03:10:51 PM
Most of us are indeed lonewolf in this industry; trusting our own hunches and price movement biases. There are people who shares their own “work” but due to differences with capital and risk tolerance, it won’t work that easily. Altcoin trading is still alive but the market in general became more unpredictable, so better choose ones who have better recoveries.
Sometimes there are group of people that pumps the price like a closed groups in Telegram, I haven't joined one but surely there are like social circles that do those kinds of things. It is going to be a pain in the ass though since usually they would share each other's profit in the end like "contribution earnings" so that no one's blamed in the end if their favored coins gone.

I had stopped altcoin trading long time ago just like I mentioned in your quoted part, but I am pretty sure that there are more skilled if not lucky traders that can take advantage of the altcoin's volatile nature.

For newbies its really better.if they could just buy bitcoin and other top so they can practice there trading skills on this coins and they will not get worried about if they might be scam since this coins are giants in the market. But I may not recommend him to go to telegram since there are so many scammers there. Much better if he stays on trading discussion and altcoin boards since he can learn a lot there.
It's usually the default coin anyway since it's like the safe way to go while they learn. Virtual trading could be the play as well, but the newbie should still learn the emotional discipline that many traders are missing these days.
20  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is Bitcoin really risky as they say? on: September 19, 2023, 03:03:58 PM
Well, compared to other assets such as real estate property or bond, Bitcoin is definitely a lot riskier, but the reason is mainly because the volatility is still high, and it's not something thath is totally bad, because it means that Bitcoin is not simply high risk, but also high return. Other reason why Bitcoin is considered to has higher risk is might be that because Bitcoin is fairly new compared to other investment, investor still trying to figure out the nature of the market
Yeah, but the good thing at the same time is that Bitcoin is decentralized. It is just riskier since there are plenty of factors that contribute to its volatility. The hypes, the news and all those things that can affect people's decision in investing in Bitcoin.

It is just that even if it volatile, as long as it's not your house/land invested to crypto not just Bitcoin, you're gucchi.
