5641  Other / Politics & Society / Re: We should have known about Ralph Northam's yearbooks long ago on: February 03, 2019, 10:43:29 AM
I feel like the democrats buried this in the past to protect his career.

Theres a near 100% chance that photo was seen by everyone in that yearbook.  Who is the other person in the racist photo? Who was the editor? Who was the faculty member who oversaw the publishing of that book?  Who else was in the yearbook, knew about the photo and never exposed it?

We need to find all of these people and out them on the internet.  It is very important that POC know if their healthcare providers are 35 year KKK sympathizers.

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/02/01/us/politics/ralph-northam-yearbook-blackface.html

Same thoughts here. This is a medical school yearbook, possessed by what I would assume was every member of that graduating class. There is no way in God's green Earth that this wasn't an open secret among the alumni; and given the nature of opposition research, beyond the shadow of a doubt someone had this. Dems gambled and lost with this one; Ralph is burnt in the public and needs to gtfo LOL. There are too many other people qualified for the job, both Republican and Democrat (although I'm rooting for the Dems short term).

Now, as a black person, I'm not offended by this one bit; honestly I think the shit is a bit funny. To be clear, its racist as fuck and he isn't deserving of the office, but in my eyes It is perfectly fine to wear whatever the fuck you want to a private event. I defend the right of white people to put on shoe polish and look like a damned fool because at the end of the day, if I want to powder up like a ghost and wear an ascot, I will. No one is going to take that away from me; but I do understand the repercussions of doing something like this in the public eye. You reap what you sow; this is why I have no problem with freedom of speech. Society has mechanisms in place to self regulate shit like this already (shaming, loss of livelihood, shunning). This is a perfect example of that.

Bye Ralph! Soft shoe right on out the fucking door and dont let it hit you in the ass on the way out 😂🤣

I see, so blackface is acceptable, but smirking while wearing a MAGA hat in public is deserving of death threats and harassment of children is it?
5642  Other / Meta / Re: DefaultTrust changes on: February 03, 2019, 09:55:23 AM

This is completely the opposite for what DT was designed for.

DT can not red trust people for telling the truth and encouraging others to view the evidence to support their claim. The very notion of using red trust this way is disgraceful and although I can tell you have a good mind for presenting a case for anything there is no way for this to be justified.

I would hear your thoughts on the entire matter. This is not at all the same circumstances and accomplishment as your example.

"Absolutely not", is not applicable in this specific case. Unless you agree with the actions of this person.

This is not a grey area like accounts being sold this is totally wrong and against the very principles that DT is supposed to represent.

I know you don't care but you're incorrect in your assumptions about what Trust is to be used for. Trust can be given out for any reason a user sees fit, though theymos discourages leaving ratings based on post quality:

On feedback pages, you can leave trade feedback. There are no rules for this, but here are some guidelines:
- List all of the trades that you do with people (or at least the major ones). This is not like #bitcoin-otc where you give people just one score.
- Do not rate people based on the quality of their posts.
- Older ratings count for more, so don't delete old ratings if you can avoid it.
- "Risked BTC" is how much money you could have lost if the person you're rating had turned out to be a scammer. Or, if they are a scammer, it's how much you lost. Use the BTC value at the time of reporting.
- It's OK to post a rating about the person in general, not tied to a specific trade.
- If you want to make a rating stronger, increase "Risked BTC". 50 extra risked BTC is equivalent to an additional rating.

Any arguments people make about what Trust is supposed to be used for should reference this list first as it is from the OP of when the Trust system was first introduced.

TL;DR

What you are advocating for can never be done because, see the rules, the rules are how it is done, the rules say it therefore the rules must stay that way and can never be changed. End of discussion, everyone please move along nothing to see here.

Things you should be looking for include wash trading, low volume high velocity price increases, orders that disappear when attempting to fill them (fake walls), and other conditions such as limited exchange availability or maintenance modes which limit arbitrage. These are among the most common manipulation techniques (not counting various forms of leveraging, margin calls, and fractional reserves).

You aren't really responding to my point

I'm responding directly to a false statement that you presented as a fact. Perhaps it's time for you to heed your own advice and get back on topic.

I responded to your claim. Just because you choose not to accept my explanation does not magically make it nonexistent. There are some more on topic points here and here you can avoid addressing as well if you can keep thinking of other stuff you would rather talk about.

At this point I think we should just split Commifornia from the rest of the nation and push it off into the ocean.
At this point I think i should throw you in the ocean. You're so rude and insensitive . Dare to step in the California and you will be dead.

OoooOOooo scary. Preserving death threat for posterity.

So it isn't a fact that some people are in countries that will imprison them simply for using crypto, or that people are robbed and kidnapped over it, and thus a system of endless inquisition is a threat to some people in this way? No what is important is your semantics and condemnation. You don't argue any of the very logical points I made and instead go for semantics and more accusations. I have brought substance to the table. Now you try.

The bolded part is certainly not a fact. What you call "endless inquisition" doesn't obligate JusticeForYou to do anything, and even if JusticeForYou signed a message - that doesn't create any new dangers for JusticeForYou.

You aren't really responding to my point, which is that some people might value an environment where there aren't dozens of people digging into their business and posting about it for no other reason than they suspect a forum account has been compromised, or the hundreds of other excuses people use to justify negative ratings. It is indeed a fact that just using crypto is a threat to the freedom and safety of certain individuals no matter how much you deny it.

This community used to be about freedom to do what you like as long as you aren't harming others. Now it is just a bunch of roaming cliques of outrage mobs looking for their next vessel to focus their hatred upon. This isn't stopping scammers it is actively providing cover for them regardless of what intent this may be done with. It is amazing how fast people demand the old broken corrupted systems they just escaped from any time a new disruptive technology is created. It is a shame, this place could be so much more.

I see, so my points are only valid if they are your points. Good talk.

Hahaha.
You make a wild claim that you have no evidence to support, so you obfuscate: you are the epitome of that which you criticize.

Extraordinary Claim

Why should anyone care that this kind of behavior can get people thrown in prison, robbed, or killed in their home nations for no other reason than some people here have nothing better to do than play private investigator?

I am sure it is just a total coincidence these accusations escalated to negative ratings shortly after this user started raising issues of abuse in meta.
That's in your head, because the thread that questioned whether the JusticeForYou account had been hacked/sold predated all of this if I'm not mistaken, and he hadn't responded to it until someone bumped it.  Besides, he was making pretty level-headed arguments and in my mind wasn't even taking a strong stance on the DT issue like he is now.  It's not likely anyone would tag him for that.

The fact is that there are some legitimate concerns that the account changed hands, and all the evidence seems to point to that being the case; everything JFY has said after the tagging just seems like the excuses you'd expect to read after someone got caught buying or hacking and account.  I really don't want the accusations against JFY to be true, as he doesn't seem to be a shitposter or a scammer--but the latter could happen eventually if he eventually decided to use his reputation and rank to scam someone.

Why should anyone care that this kind of behavior can get people thrown in prison, robbed, or killed in their home nations for no other reason than some people here have nothing better to do than play private investigator?
Are you talking about JusticeForYou?  How is he going to have any of those consequences if he signs a message?  Plus I don't think anyone knows enough about his real identity to even assume any of could happen.  Hell, if I was in that much danger from just owning a bunch of bitcoin, the last thing I'd do is post on bitcointalk.

Nope, before the re-awakening his English was master class. Almost perfect by forum standards. I'm going to perform a comparative analysis of the two different time periods when I have some free time.
Yeah, that's the part that you can't make an excuse for.  I've tagged members for buying accounts based on mostly this kind of evidence, and when they try to explain why their English suddenly changed when they "woke up", it's never anything that makes sense.

I really have a hard time believing all of you avoiding the topic at hand are incapable of understanding the difference between what you suspect and what you can prove. I have explained here why this arbitrary use of trust ratings is counter productive here and here. You are using circular logic, saying it is what you have done in the past, therefore it is what you should do in the future. What are the consequences of him not signing the message? Why couldn't he be tagged neutral for others to reference if they care to? There is a clear punitive retaliatory element to this instigated as soon as this user started raising issues. This is the standard operating procedure here any time some one comes looking for some kind of recompense or restoration of their account. There is no accountability for this system of arbitrary inquisition and it is wide open to abuse. Without a standard of evidence of theft, violation of contractual agreement, or violation of applicable laws negative ratings should not be left.

OK, back to the regularly scheduled drama and dire seriousness.

this drama will only go the other way: "DT did this and that" instead of maintaining focus on the VIP account. Now any discussion the focus change to something like: " DT did this and that ". in the Meta and reputation is flooded with themes like this "DT did this and that"

It is almost like this is the forum and thread for discussing the issues with the trust system and you keep wanting to make it about this person's imagined crimes instead of the topic of the counterproductive nature of the current administration of it.
5651  Other / Meta / Re: DefaultTrust changes on: February 02, 2019, 05:35:10 PM

<snip> You add nothing.

I'm just having a laugh at the absurdity of believing that the current grammar and posting syntax of this "Justice" account resemble, in any way, that of past BTC_bear posts.
And a bonus smile at your obsessive contrarianism, which I first recall encountering during the WoodCollector saga.

But hey, I'm just an arriviste, cult member, whatever, self righteous, other stuff, forum ruining "scam buster", WTF do I know?

Is is absurd or irrelevant? Why is it the position consistently needs to be shifted away from this poor standard of evidence and the negative results back to the suspicion on this person demanding him to confirm his account for no particular reason other than to satiate the desires of people with nothing better to do? You know what is absurd is you arguing against a standard of evidence with that signature tag on.

Again bravo for demonstrating once again several people here are struggling with every tool they have to put everyone who questions them on the defensive by hook or crook, and the topic itself is only secondary.

Why should anyone care that this kind of behavior can get people thrown in prison, robbed, or killed in their home nations for no other reason than some people here have nothing better to do than play private investigator?
5652  Other / Meta / Re: The clubroom - another radical idea from Jet Cash on: February 02, 2019, 05:07:59 PM
The problem with these exclusive forums is that there is not enough critical mass for discussion. Quality discussion takes times and energy people could be devoting toward other goals therefore essentially relies on people's boredom to produce content. If you wanted a smaller more select group like this to work I would say you should offer some kind of monetary version of merits like we here here. I loathe to compare it to the "R" word because it is such a dumpster fire, but a system like that could give incentive for people to provide more active and more quality content.
5653  Other / Meta / Re: DefaultTrust changes on: February 02, 2019, 04:54:19 PM

Sorry, couldn't help myself.

OK, back to the regularly scheduled drama and dire seriousness.

Interesting how it is always a joke when it goes the other way but the sky will fall if your own accusations are unheeded.

Does anyone else see the hypocrisy of making a joke of the guy defending himself from mere accusations of suspicion, but the accusations themselves are of utmost importance apparently. I am sure it is just a total coincidence these accusations escalated to negative ratings shortly after this user started raising issues of abuse in meta.

Funny how this serious discussion is suddenly so boring. So hey lets liven it up a bit with some more drama, so all the arguments can be dismissed and the topic slid to some other side issue right? You cry about drama but you simultaniously make a joke out of serious discussion. You add nothing.
5654  Other / Meta / Re: DefaultTrust changes on: February 02, 2019, 01:31:02 PM

Someone with vast BTC does not need to answer that question and should not.

Can everyone see how this constant default position of inquisition is not only not a desirable user experience, but can literally be dangerous to the physical safety and freedom of users?
5655  Other / Meta / Re: DefaultTrust changes on: February 02, 2019, 01:12:06 PM

Neutral trust with a warning the account "may be" changed hands is enough.

The only problem with Neutral trust is if a person has a zero trust rating,  many people don't even bother to check the trust comments. Perhaps a message under trust to "click here to read peer comments" should be warranted.

That is the issue. The trust system is supposed to be a simple guide for noobs right? Unfortunately though no system is free from exploitation. We should be encouraging users to use the green and red numbers as a QUICK REFERENCE, then to do their own due diligence before trading. By overly applying the ratings we are just creating signal noise and confusion allowing this kind of manufactured crime of suspicion creating complete ambiguity as to who is actually a scammer and who is not. The net is too wide so you catch too many innocents, or for very petty reasons, people notice, then the whole system becomes useless for its intended purpose.

We need a standard of theft, violation of contractual agreement, or violation of applicable laws for leaving a negative rating, otherwise it can never be a useful quick reference as explained above. Even if it WAS a good quick reference, teaching noobs to just use those numbers and not do due diligence is feeding them into a wood chipper of fraud by teaching them to trust a system that can be manipulated. Furthermore these trust police feed into this feeling by giving the perception that they actively stop scams.

I am sorry but this whole thing that has arisen here is what we call a clusterfuck and it needs to stop. I can't even imagine how much more we could have accomplished if all of this energy was redirected towards constructive things rather than playing cops and robbers and ripping apart the foundation of the cohesiveness of the culture of the forum itself.
5656  Other / Meta / Re: DefaultTrust changes on: February 02, 2019, 11:34:03 AM
Well you have accused them. Clearly that means any complaints are invalid because your decisions and judgement are infallible are they? Life would be so much easier if you could just defame anyone who accuses you of anything amirite?
Yes, they do that and there is a very clear case of trust abuse happening with me. I am not engaged in any shady active here, even I don't earn form signatures by posting here and there is nothing scammy I have done which should state Warning: Trade with extreme caution!.

This is how they try to mob anyone here who tries to speak in some truth about there manipulative works. This is a clear case of lowering the value of once reputed account, without any prove of it being compressed.

Very interesting. What a shocker. Another person who has critical things to say punished with their own personal inquisition. I reviewed the case, and all I see is suspicion. There is no evidence of wrongdoing, just demands by the forum overlords for the user to prove their identity, and punishment for not doing so. I am sure it is just a complete coincidence this inquisition was rebirthed directly after them being critical of the trust police right? It is almost like they try to find anything they can to discredit and punish anyone who criticizes their inquisition type Barney Fife OCD forum cop behavior.

I'm going to use an analogy here. Let's say someone lives in the US and just turned 21 two days ago. They decide to go to a nightclub, and somehow ends up losing their ID along the way. When the 21 years old goes to the nightclub, they discover that their ID is missing and the nightclub does not let them enter. Is the nightclub doing something wrong? After all, the person is 21 years old. They just don't have an ID.
Unfortunately, it appears JusticeforYou has lost the keys that would have allowed him full reentry into our community. If I am not mistaken, Satoshi himself cannot even access his account here unless he can prove to the satisfaction of theymos that he is indeed Satoshi. So Justiceforyou has a privilege that the founder doesn't enjoy. At least he is free to post on this forum. We must take every precaution possible to ensure that this forum doesn't fall for a big con. You do realize that con is short for confidence, correct?
I for one would hope that JusticeForYou finds a usb drive tucked away in a junk drawer, and is able to retrieve the private keys. Hopefully multiple keys that have no current UTXO attached to them so he doesn't have to reveal his wealth and can be totally vindicated. Also, JusticeForYou indicated that he sent a PM to theymos. Perhaps theymos himself feels that having access to the original e-mail is sufficient.

Yeah, after 8 years of being around here I know how it works, thank you for the patronizing explanation though.

You are missing the point completely. It is irrelevant if he can't prove it is his account, because first of all there is no victim making a claim. Now if some one he had harmed came forward, ok sure I wouldn't have any issue whatsoever.

However in this case he is simply SUSPECTED of not being the owner. While he can't prove he is, why should he have to? Oh right, because the forum police have decided that you are guilty until proven innocent. This is exactly why I advocate for a standard of evidence of theft, violation of contractual agreement, or violation of applicable laws before rating.

I am sure that it is absolutely coincidence all these people decided now would be a good time to negative tag him. I am sure this inquisition has nothing to do with the fact that he is critical of the very same behavior these people who rated him perpetrate on a daily basis. This is the plausible deniability of harassment, inquisition, and dog piling these people use to justify their behavior by systematically discrediting anyone who criticizes them.

No one has been able to explain to me why these kids should be under any scrutiny whatsoever. So far all I see are a bunch of bigoted and biased opinions based on some anecdotal experiences that are probably long past the norm anyway. Anything you can use to distract from the fact that the left is a mobile mob of two minutes of hate ready to lynch anyone who their corporate overlords and social media masters signal to them to attack with a few clicks of a button. This event exposed the regressive left for what they actually are a mob desperately seeking a vessel for their hatred at all costs, and never taking any accountability for the results.

If the roles had been reversed here in polar political opposites the whaling and the gnashing of teeth would never end. Facts have no relevance to these people any more, as long as they have a target to unleash their indiscriminate rage upon. This is not going to stop until people start standing up to them instead of just trying to avoid them or letting them take you hostage by being louder or more extreme in lieu of facts and logic. If not they will continue escalating until people start eventually give up turning the other cheek and start defending themselves. Then the media will cry how the conservatives perpetrated it and the mob will lap it all up and go looking for retribution, creating a feedback loop of violence. Does no one else see what is going on here? This is not a new script.
