Ok, so im reading here and a few people keep coming and and saying how we were dumb for thinking they would go under market value.. But i don't understand that. I guess i'm too small minded to understand the concept of not getting a discount when buying in bulk... As i thought that was the whole point of buying bulk? Is there something different about buying bulk BTC's that i'm missing? I understand it would take awhile to get that many coins through exchanges, but even then, i can't see them paying that much over market price when they could just create a script/bot to buy coins at much better prices from many different exchanges. I just don't understand.
Edit: **I have not read any hard data, just same stuff on the web as everyone else.**
1 year from now you will understand how great of a deal the winning bidder got.

Bitcoin is an experiment not an investment. You can be "emotionally invested" in it's success which is another metaphor.
Other then that your Bitcoins (the number that represents your balance in the bitcoin wallet) will never be an investment nor will it make you an investor. That is true even if the experiment succeeds on all accords (whatever that may be). What I think about the probability of it's success is irrelevant for the question of whenever people following the buy & hold strategy are investors or not. If it succeeds they would be very good speculators but still no investors.
There's an excellent chance you will end up suicidal when 1 BTC becomes too pricey for the avg person to buy one. I know how that feels, when I sold thousands of XC coin bought at 4k sat at 20k sat then watched helplessly as it climbed to 500k sats. Normally I wouldn't wish that feeling on anyone, but with you I'll make an exception.

Dude, get a freakin' life. Anytime you buy something in the hope it goes up in value you are investing. I bought a nib Colt Python a few years ago for $2k, the same model is going for over $3k on GB. Did I invest in Colt the company? of course not, they stopped making them years ago. Did I make an investment? you bet your ass, and a good one.

Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Unmoderated XC thread

there is no reason to take someone serious when comparing other coins to btc in equal ground. darkcoin, vericoin or even xc should worry about bitcoin add-on like dark wallet and blockchain coinjoin. like Greg Maxwell said there is no need for scam darkcoin or other altcoins, bitcoin itself can do all. once blockchain coinjoin or dark wallet is success with their anonymous coding then scam darkcoin is done. at this moment if you use sharedcoin(btc)+TOR then you would have much more anonomous then this scam darkcoin. there is no reason to use other altcoins or scam coins for anonymous transaction and all the smart people know this. i bet most people are here for quick pump and dump for all the altcoins [/quote] +1. All the idiotic comments about how XC, DRK, VRC, MRO etc are going to overtake BTC are just holders wanting to profit off noobs - either that or they really are that brainwashed. Every altcoin = just a way to get free BTC through trading. The way that happens is through brainwashing other into believing it's going to be worth much more than you paid.

I don't get who is going to keep buying these bitcoins to push the price that high.
Anyone and everyone who wants to make money? You have those with faith buying/holding now. When the price shoots up, those who are watching and waiting for proof BTC is for real will buy. As news of BTC shooting up hits people who never gave it a second look will pile on, etc etc etc. We had a taste of this in Dec, the problem was the infrastructure wasn't deep enough to support MASSIVE price growth. The next bubble won't be a bubble, it will be a price correction to reflect current adoption.
