1521  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XCN] Cryptonite | 1st mini-blockchain coin | M7 PoW | No Premine on: August 02, 2014, 11:01:06 PM
well, I decided to give this coin a shot, found out there's no pools, boo, so i set up a wallet to solo mine on 4 different i7 computers, been almost 24 hours now and one of them did find one block, so i guess that's good? hurray? can't really see how fast it's mining in the wallet, used to seeing my hashrate and accepts flying by on the GPUs i mine with. all i can say is that in task manager the wallet's cpu performance is at %90+ so it seems to be working.

my concern is the price, it seems incredibly inflated. there's over 300,000 new coins meing mined a day, so in 10 days this will have as much coins as cloakcoin for example (of which the price seems appropriately compared to) but after that it's just going to get diluded. in 20 days it will be worth half as much. to me this seems unsustainable.

i've never heard of a coin with 1.84 billion coins that's been worth 8000 satoshis. that on it's own is just very impressive, but I gotta say, as an investor, i'd be looking to short this right now, no way this is a sustainable price unless you want to valuate this being worth as much as 100x doge right out of the gate. 10x maybe i'd believe, but not 100. this is silly.

I agree, this coin isn't a speculator's coin. Not sure why he chose this structure.

Please don't take my question as fud, but can someone explain the hype behind this coin? charity work is great but I don't think altcoin traders care too much about that..
1523  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: SCAM PRO PayProCoin on: July 31, 2014, 03:44:19 PM
I said something about his promise to buy back at 2500 sats if it doesn't hit that being ridiculous and my post got deleted. Be careful, this coin absolutely REEKS of scam.

This is one of the jankiest things I've seen in Crypto, and Lord is that saying something.
1528  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][PRO] PayProCoin [SHA-256] Longevity. Transparency. Integrity. Usability. on: July 31, 2014, 02:45:21 AM
Wtf, why doesn't he just buy them himself for 500 sats on Bittrex? this makes no sense, and you know what they say about things that sound too good to be true...

Good point, but why should he set the price at 2500 sats on Monday? He wants to set a standard for the price of his coin it seems. I think there's potential here so I bought in.
Why would he buy all his own coins?! this is absurd.

I just bought a few thousand. Look at the Bittex order book - buy side vs sell side is ridiculous.

What price were the IPO coins sold at?

I think you are forgetting something.  The dev in those coins was totally inactive and as soon as they hit exchanges absolutely nothing happened. Different here and it is obvious.

This coin has been going for a minute, the dev gave up his coins from the fork, it has been listed on exchanges and the dev is still active and responsive to all issues and question that have come up.

At this point in DarkCash, your post just makes you seems stupid or that you are trying to spread bad FUD.

Dev could have a partner who does have a lot of coins though, couldn't he?

oh maybe satoshi had a partner who did litecoin, blackcoin and darkcoin. Come on.

Yeah scam developers always work alone what was I thinking?

Are you guys serious? The only way to manipulate hundreds of hashes is if somebody has a working ASIC for X11. Otherwise it is just a network and the network shows that it is receiving hundreds of hashes. If you do not believe the pools just download the source compile the daemon and run getmininginfo. This is what I am getting:

This guy is funny: Not trying to spread FUD, those are my guesses. Never take advice from people on the forums. Smiley

In other words: Not trying to spread FUD, but I will spread FUD. Smiley

I know it's far fetched, just trying to make sense of this and just want to know if it's possible.

Oh, gawd Cheesy

http://prntscr.com/46ke4l

This can mean only one thing.

Or two.

Is it possible that what we are seeing is an illusion, manipulated numbers? prob a stupid question, I just can't fathom this nethash on a coin with such a low price.
Not sure why would people invest so much hash into DRKC, if the price isn't covering their mining cost.

a) They've got big expectations.
b) They know something we don't.
c) We all seeing an illusion.
d) Sumtin wong?

Price is @ 2.3k on poloniex atm. Someone from bittrex mentioned that they're watching DRKC. ( This could be what everyone is waiting? )

Just checked the logo. It's awesome!

c)
Would this be possible? If it's possible to scam folks in crypto, it will happen.
Everything is possible.

Not trying to spread FUD, those are my guesses. Never take advice from people on the forums. Smiley

Well, using process of illumination of your choices;
a) Generally, miners don't speculate - they want to get paid as quick as possible. Given the supposed 400gh+, I'd find this possiblility highly unlikely.
b) How could hundreds of miners all know something none of us do? again, highly unlikely.

That pretty much leaves c. How could this illusion be created if it's possible? anyone?

Imagine that the nethash we are seeing is totally made up, along with the speed at which the blocks are being found. Would this be possible? If it's possible to scam folks in crypto, it will happen.

I can't believe the price of this coin on polo?

I bought 900Mh of hash for 0.2 BTC, and I managed to get just over 5000 coins.

I just managed to buy 30,000 coins for 0.5 BTC.

People are selling at a loss?Huh

No. U mine at a loss. People don't sell at a loss. What makes u think that all miner got the same formula for mining profit

True, there are loads of variables, electric cost, rig size, rental fees, and so on.

With the net hash in the 200-300gh there must be farms out there paying nearly nothing for electricity to make profit at 1500 sats. I do disagree that "people don't sell at a loss", it happens all the f'g time around here, panic dumping.

Grim reality - nothing is going to touch Bitcoin when it comes to being used as a currency. Urocoin has an interesting idea as a means to trade fertilizer, but aside from a small niche like that nobody is going to choose to use some tiny market cap altcoin over Bitcoin.
That's my opinion, but I think the vast majority of those who are in this scene would agree.

Nice to see the developer is willing to play the game. Now, I'll take a look at Elite on Bittrex.
