So has anything been delivered, or is this another developer cult?

Everything that has been promised so far has been delivered. Obviously apart from the features currently in development but Anon v1 was delivered on time.
What has the developer delivered other than a centralized mixing platform? That is in no way novel, considering such things have existed for a few months now.

It was clearly stated from the start that v1 won't be that impressive. However it was coded from the scratch. V2 is decentralized, anonymous and easy to use/become a node. Its ok if you don't want to invest right now, hopefully you will when we surpass dark. This coin is still growing and is very new.
We'll see. I believe the choice to go POS doomed this coin right from the start.

So has anything been delivered, or is this another developer cult? Is there any reason the price is increasing, apart from the developer's identity?

So just to confirm, at this point the anonymity is accomplished through centralized nodes? How does the dev plan to make them decentralized, and how long will it take?

What's up with Darkcointalk.org?

Now, maybe this is when we find out the closed source client has a backdoor... heh.

You're all nuts for using something like this that hasn't been peer-reviewed, IMO.

Be interesting to see what happens to DRK when people clue in that Monero is more secure and anonymous.

same affect with XC, still more anon then DRK......
First, learn the difference between affect and effect. Second, what are you smoking? XC is in an even more primitive state than any of the Cryptonote coins, which are also pitiful.

so what if it could be more primitive, still more anon then DRK.... can already see DRK being dumped so people can jump on the XC bandwagon.... wouldnt suprise me if XC starts to rival drk for its current position in the comming weeks, plus XC wasnt "instamined"
You're right, it was premined, which is even worse. The XC dev has yet to release a white paper, and has only given very basic descriptions of how he will be implementing anonymity. Also it uses POS which is inherently flawed.

The most disappointing thing is that it was an attack, not just a hard fork problems because of the versions not up to date.

I actually find that the most promising thing. If a group of people put so much effort and finance into (delaying) darkcoins rise it must be because they're genuinly scared of drk taking away marketcap from their coins which in the end means Evan is on the right track. "First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win".
(Mahatma Gandhi)

why is everyone on a Gandhi circle jerk?

The following excerpts from articles in The Wall Street Journal and The Independent, published in 2011 and 2010 respectively, detail Gandhi’s bizarre experiments with sex. The key point they contain is, for years, Gandhi sexually abused his 17-year-old grandniece Abha and his 18-year-old grandniece Manu. He forced them to sleep with him — simultaneously and naked — nightly. The story is a tragic one of psychological and physical molestation perpetrated against vulnerable young girls with not option for escape.
Additionally, for years prior while living in an ashram, he forbade his followers to sleep with their wives but required the wives to sleep with him — again, naked.

The benefits of having power: fucking other people's wives.

It's actually not that bad for DRK if it was an attack. Better to get these issues sorted out sooner, rather than later.

DRK down, this is our time to shine

DRK is broken... prepare yourselves for critical mass.

In what world is a declining coin price and competitors that blow you out of the water success?

Briliantrocket's own opinions on XC, which blows MRO out of the water:

For anyone interested, POS is flawed as it can never remain decentralized. Refer to https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=558316.msg6501774#msg6501774

I would advise any would be investors to be EXTREMELY cautious of this coin. If the dev cannot provide a full explanation of what this technology does and how, assume it is vaporware intended to create a pump.
Thanks for making my point. A questionable coin is still beating you guys.
1473  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MRO] Monero - Anonymous Currency Based on Ring Signatures on: May 26, 2014, 06:07:28 PM
You guys have been taken over in market cap by XC, buh bye Monero Smiley

Is this a serious post?

success breed haters

With CPUMiner-multi, on my i7-3770 I get 120H with -t 8 (3770 has 8 HT) and 156H with -t 4 in Linux.

I checked CPUFrequency and didn't see anything that would explain this as the clock speed runs the same on both, with or without turbo.

the cpuminer is compiled for your machine and linux itself is faster

In what world is a declining coin price and competitors that blow you out of the water success?

I somehow doubt the dev was ceo of a major company. If he had been, everything about this coin wouldn't be so haphazard.
1477  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XC] -POW & 3.33% POS | 3 Exchanges | The first POS X11 Anonnymous wallet!! on: May 25, 2014, 07:43:56 PM
I like Dark but come on, the whole thing is nothing but a slick marketing and product launch.

There is no marketing associated with Darkcoin. No sponsorships, giveaways, promo events, etc. There was a conscious decision to wait, get the job done and then market. How can you market a product which is beta and not final?

However, coinmarketcap caught up, whales caught up and the pressure escalated. Then global media caught up, then LTC and BTC holders started hedging with DRK and the whole thing blew enormously in terms of coin value and attention.

Quote
then spring this whole masternodes concept that encourages hoarding of the coins to keep the network alive which gets everyone in a buying spree, neverminding the fact the system is setup to further more enrich all those early miners who have the lion's share of the loot.

There must be negative incentives to prevent bad actors from mapping the network. No dis-incentive => someone launches 10.000 nodes and has 99.9% chance to map all transactions. If you make it "costly" to own the nodes you prevent the bad actor attack to a sufficient degree.

XC will "suffer" criticism on this regard for a while until it comes up with another or similar solution.
And then it'll be a POS Darkcoin clone.

If you write your own code, you are generally not considered a clone but the distinction can be elusive for non-coders. The key will be to maximize the technology and make it as anonymous as it can get.
Maybe not a direct clone, but supernodes sound familiar. Special nodes that do mixing, where have we seen that before?

Think about this rationally. How easy is it to create a coin, claim that you're some sort of rainman programmer, provide some cryptic explanations of how your technology works, and then sit back and watch the pump? Compare that to actually developing a technology that is superior to what teams of others have been working on for 5+ years. Now which of these scenarios is more likely to occur?
1480  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XC] -POW & 3.33% POS | 3 Exchanges | The first POS X11 Anonnymous wallet!! on: May 25, 2014, 04:39:23 PM
Also, how are you going to add ring sig, the blockchain is completely different and the lead developers of Bitcoin said it's not possible.

Not really. I pointed DRK's dev to the fact that ring sigs create scaling and vast bloat issues that might make DRK a coin that can't be used for mainstream adoption / a DOA product.

He said he came up with an idea to get a comparable level of anonymity without the ring sig bloat that he'll implement in RC3.

Lets assume he can't get the same level of anonymity without ring signatures.

In that case, isn't the bloat worth being the only way to get decentralised anonymity?
You're making the assumption that there aren't any other ways of achieving decentralized anonymity.
