541  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin be replaced by another cryptocurrency? on: April 11, 2017, 10:37:58 AM
Does it make sense to believe that Bitcoin could one day be replaced by another cryptocurrency, that is, a cryptocurrency that really does make Bitcoin obsolete?

It's possible. but bitcoin has gained much more popularity and it has been adopted for mass use.
yes everything in this world can be possible but still it is not so easy to beat such a good and popular crypto currency.

e-gold was much better and it was replaced. everything is replaceable. Smiley
542  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [OFFICIAL]Bitfinex.com first Bitcoin P2P lending platform for leverage trading on: April 07, 2017, 07:32:59 AM
Have you read the news about Bitfinex guys? In any case well done, it is the best theft managed in the history of the Bitcoin on an exchange. They survived everything by repaying their debts in just 8 months and become the new leaders. If they had gone bankrupt, no one would have been repaid. It is a question of confidence, clear communication... Bravo!

There are still a lot of questions remaining

And I wouldn't be surprised if it becomes known eventually that the guys who stole the coins were the same guys who had been running the exchange back then. It was all fishy right from the start and remains so. They didn't reveal the addresses to which funds had been moved, didn't provide information how investigation went and what it ended up with. It might well have been an inside job as may had been speculating back in the day. They might as well have caught the thieves long ago and were just keeping the funds earning plenty of money off them. In any case, I wouldn't be singing eulogies to Bitfinex since there is no reliable info about what actually happened and how it got resolved

very good point ! it was an inside job and MANY clients lost a lot of money. Bitfinex continues to be unlicensed, to have NO physical address...

The propaganda said that Bitfinex reimbursement the losses but many of their clients sold their tokens with 30% from price long time ago.
543  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why does Roger Ver pay for BU Reddit ads? on: April 05, 2017, 11:38:13 PM
in this forum have some guys that are paid too. always showing up arguing with ppl that are not in favor with BUg CHINESE coin.
then they just throw a lot of technical stuff but they don't see the whole context behind the scenes.

I think this guys must be so brainwashed they can't see the recent bitcoins news around the world, like japan adopting it, and this BUG chine coin will mess up everything.

Now they probably will show up with big texts,

I wanted to know how much are you guys profiting to defend bug chinese coin?  Grin

The Japan law refers to ALL e-currencies (Digital currencies) not only to one Smiley

Bitcoin is only an e-currency along many others. Before BTC was trendy, it was Liberty Reserve and before that, it was e-gold. After BTC will be gone, other e-currency will be trendy and so on...
So, the law you are talking about is referring to all the virtual currencies and it's saying about a tax for them too. Smiley

544  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin as a payment on minimarkat? on: April 03, 2017, 09:36:01 PM
BTC wasn't made for being a payment system. BTC will never be worldwide accepted as Paypal or other similar payment processors.
545  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin as a payment on minimarkat? on: April 03, 2017, 07:34:39 AM
why would you accept BTC if you own a store while you can accept cards without any headaches?

remember, the stores are not only in USA.  how much would cost you to accept BTC if you have a mini store Europe? how long does it take until you get the payment from Bitpay? what fees? It's simply doesn't worth Smiley
546  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Can the Gemini Bitcoin Exchange be trusted with my finances? on: April 02, 2017, 09:31:38 AM
They have a banking charter which I believe will include insurance for your USD in case they fail. Not too sure about the coins themselves. I doubt there's anywhere more legit than there but that isn't really saying too much when it comes to Bitcoin infrastructure.
Fiat funds are fully insured, but that's not the case when it comes to the digital assets people store there. Not sure why they don't offer insurance for coins as well, but that's what the situation is right now.

Other than that, from what I read on their site they do take cold storage very serious, which is always a plus. Nowadays inside jobs are a bigger problem than hackers are. Long story short ~ nothing wrong with this exchange.

because no big insurance company insurances Bitcoin.

Gemini is financial licensed so they are good.
547  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin overcome Paypal? on: March 30, 2017, 10:59:50 AM
Right now both are rendering service standing on different platforms. Now bitcoin has been gaining strength with its currency form, where PayPal serves only as an payment gateway. Only time decides based on the interest of people towards development.
Since crypto currency is competing foreign currency, expect that bitcoin could beat paypal. Ad bitcoin be supported by government, its market would spread rapidly making it be legalized and formally introduced to the market where in it can beat paypal in this case.
Yeah ? The problem you are making is paypal is not a currency !!

Oh, PayPal is definitely a currency at this point. And pretty well accepted too. I've seen PayPal integration on every shopping cart I use online, at select fast food restaurants, some gas pumps. It's even an option at CoinStar.

And they are a bank as well. At least, they act like a bank, holding funds from consumers for non AML/KYC reasons.

PayPal Europe was granted a Luxembourg banking license so they are bank. Smiley

Bitcoin is just an e-currency for a niche and nothing more. e-gold was an e-currency, liberty reserve was an e-currency. BTC came with something new, the trading...and the speculators were attracted.
548  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Chinese Bitcoin Exchanges Implement Video Verification to Resume Withdrawals on: March 30, 2017, 10:49:43 AM
first, they asked for personal information, explanations of the sources of the funds to be withdrawn and intended withdrawal destinations. Now they want video verification. Huobi and OKCoin are implementing video confirmation to comply the strict PBOC's AML and KYC guidelines, expecting the return of bitcoin withdrawals soon.
BUT Don't you think this is too much to ask for?
Where is the anonymity we've been talking about?

it's something normal. AML and KYC is mandatory for all the all the exchangers. more than that, a financial license is mandatory too.

anonymity is not part of this business anymore. it's not fair for Circle, Bitstamp, Itbit, Coinbase to pay a lot of money(and to comply with a many laws) for their licenses and others to operate without any.
549  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin be replaced by another cryptocurrency? on: March 29, 2017, 04:35:46 PM
To believe (e.g. to be certain) something like that does not make rational sense. To say that is a statistic probability makes much more sense. However, this has been discussed over and over again. In order for the cryptocurrency space to thrive, it would be most suitable if there were multiple coins at the top and not just one (as currently Bitcoin is). Nobody can say that either one will happen for sure; they would only be speculating.
Bitcoin for now is upgrading and its value increases dramatically so thinking that bitcoin would be replaced by other crypto-currencys thats imposibble for know. We all know that bitcoins value is depending to the support of people so many people continue to choose bitcoin than any other crypto-currency. That is the fact and when bitcoin becomes more popular many buisness will be open on accepting bitcoin so it may be the future ot bitcoin. It cant be replaced by any other. Because bitcoin is just starting to grow more.

Also because we are addicted of using bitcoin and use it rather than using any other currency we are unknown of.
This is the main factor bitcoin will not be replaced !

same thing was told about e-gold about 10 years ago and e-gold is the past now. Smiley

Bitcoin will be the past in the next 2-3 years when another e-currency will arise
550  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: R/BTC moderator steps down, announces he is leaving bitcoin for Ethereum on: March 28, 2017, 07:35:54 AM
To me, leaving bitcoin for Ethereum is worst than anyone who participated in BU/Segwit debate. How about when the current issues have been ironed out? Will he come back? Ethereum is basically "governed" by centralization, controlled by the few. They can HF anytime.

Who cares about centralization as long you take a lot of money from a new "job"?  Everything is about a lot of money Smiley

553  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: CEX seems to have abandoned Bitcoin on: March 25, 2017, 01:03:01 PM
CEX in the UK have been accepting Bitcoin for about 3 years both in-store and online for buying and selling.

Browsing the website today and I notice that the Bitcoin logo has gone from the bottom of the webpage, and in the FAQ, and under payment methods. All mention of it has now gone, and I guess they have removed the ATM's from stores too.

Not very promising really, a company that invested in supporting Bitcoin has given up within 3 years. I'd guess the frigging huge transaction backlog, days of delays for confirmation and higher than Mastercard (credit) fees are turning people and business away while the community throws abuse at itself.

BTC was not made for real economy and that's why the merchants are not interested about it. What merchant would be happy to receive the funds within few days and the value to go up and down? Smiley

BTC is only good for speculation.
554  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Peter R's talk at Coinbase -- yes they will 51% attack the minority chain! on: March 24, 2017, 11:03:08 AM
(If nothing else we'll learn a lot from the experience, a $20Billion lesson.. better be good)

there is no $16B-$20B dollars!

thats the speculative bubble number based on a few thousand coins being stired around in exchanges to have a $1000 'price' and the multiplying it by 16m

there are not 16-20 billion actual dollars sitting in bank accounts.
i can make an altcoin tomorrow with 5,000,000,000,000 premined coins. get just 1 coin onto an exchange and sell it to myself for $1.. and instantly have a $5trillion market cap.

so stop talking about the speculative bubble number.. its meaningless. all the holders of the 16m coins of bitcoin are not promised or guaranteed $1000 if they all cashed out today. its not a 'valuation' .. its a bubble number of multiplication

great point and very true. BTC capitalization is just a bubble. nobody owns billions of USD in their bank accounts. get real ! Smiley

BTC is just a trendy e-currency like e-gold was at its time and it will end once something new will appear.
555  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you want hardfork? on: March 22, 2017, 11:25:43 PM
If no decision will be made bitcoin will die out. Simply because every new cryptocurrency which is not a scam is better than Bitcoin. First blockchain just could not be perfect, now its literally a waste.

4 transactions per sec is just ridiculous. You can wait up to 24h for transaction + you have to pay a lot of it. If you think thats ok I dont get your point.

For example, Dash, Monero or NEM are centuries ahead of Bitcoin when it comes to technology, and you cant argue with that. BTCBTC

Bitcoin never will die.
It is first cryptocurency and one trust cryptocurency. Nobody can`t control it. It is not private made by group of developers. Nobody know who did it. Nobody can control it.
That is why it is best coin. No goverment can`t do that. No people can`t do that. It is the most popular and always will be.

Altcoins are ok, for me they are to lose or earn money. If u want u can invest in them but there will be always just one the most popular coin - BITCOIN!
For now like i said $1 is enough fee to get money in few minutes. Dont need wait for 24h. Even if someone will have to it is anonymous, very cheap for big amounts. Never any coin will not be better and say whatever u want. People know it.

I am suprised who decide to talk about Bitcoin Unlimited?! I see nobody votes for BU so who were proposing this shit?! People are scary because dont know what is going on. Who made this panic first?! I can see noone want this shit BU.

BTC is just an e-currency and as others before, it will die and another one will arise Smiley
556  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: AntPool - switch to Bitcoin Unlimited on: March 21, 2017, 04:01:12 PM
the other miners will follow them. as we can see, the biggest exchangers want a change too.
557  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: AntPool - switch to Bitcoin Unlimited on: March 19, 2017, 03:40:54 PM
the most important thing is that AntPool, the biggest BTC miner is switching to Bitcoin Unlimited... the rest of the things, do not matter Smiley
558  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [OFFICIAL]Bitfinex.com first Bitcoin P2P lending platform for leverage trading on: March 16, 2017, 05:58:36 PM
they don't have a real office. HK office belongs to a lawyer and same for BVI Smiley
559  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: AntPool - switch to Bitcoin Unlimited on: March 15, 2017, 09:39:49 PM
i think it is a matter of time until other huge miner will switch to BU
This won't change much, they need 70%,  which means they still have a long way to go and in the meantime another better solution may be proposed.
Don't forget there's still a strong opposition to BU. One thing is certain, if the fork happens you will all be able to get some cheap coins, because the price will take a huge hit.

BU has around of 40% now....so...it's not so much. Another big miner and i think it's done.

Of last 1000 I see 33% of blocks, not 40%. I would like to se 40% - that would mean halfway there.

They won't activate until 75% for a difficulty period which is 2016 blocks so one has to look at a bigger picture than just last day or whatever is being used for the 40% count.

it was less than 20% few months ago... Smiley
