1521  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Take the money and run is the Bitcoin way! on: February 18, 2015, 09:29:50 PM
I think a lot of these "hacks" were inside jobs where the owners or employees just took the money and ran. How can a cold wallet get "hacked"? Really? I don't believe it for a second.

Anyway, all of these hacks combined pale in comparison to this 1 billion dollar fiat hack:
http://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/2015/02/15/hackers-steal-billion-in-banking-breach/23464913/

At least a lot of these really poorly run businesses will cease to exist. Bitcoin companies that don't take security seriously and adhere to best practices will not last long in this environment.

the security costs a LOT. Imagine that a bank can spend tens of millions and they can be hacked. How can a small-medium exchange business to hire very good programmers? impossible.

even you take the security very serious, they don't have the resources to do it.

a small-medium exchange is earning around of 5-7K per month, maybe less. a very good programmer cost around 90-100 USD/hour.
a good server administrator is the same.

the initial website costs a lot too.

1522  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Take the money and run is the Bitcoin way! on: February 18, 2015, 09:21:25 PM
I'm sorry, but with the amount of thefts and hacks this month alone, only regulation and compliance is the real way:

https://blog.gemini.com/welcome-to-gemini/

Basically we tried to it do it our way in our playground, but there's no one in charge to put anyone in timeout for the bad kid that continues to give all the good kids titty twisters and indian rope burns.

It's inevitable and indisputable, gotta regulate, yo!  Not sure how Decentralized Exchanges like Coinffeine or BitSquare will turn out, but doesn't look like they have the resources to compete with the scope and scale Gemini is going for.

Bitcoin is all about NON regulation, no GOV did you forget? Smiley
1523  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Cavirtex exchange shutdown after being hacked on: February 18, 2015, 09:16:40 PM
CAVIRTEX, a Canadian Bitcoin exchange, has announced that it will be permanently ceasing all operations in March. The exchange cited security breaches as their reason for closing.

Read here http://coinfinance.com/news/cavirtex-bitcoin-exchange-shuts-down-after-being-hacked

It has become an habit for an Exchange to claim it was hacked......just to run away with the cash bag!

MtGox
BTC-e
CAVIRTEX

...what's next?

You can't never know the truth.

it may be very true. poor programming is the cause of hacking. even a very strong programmer team cannot guarantee that you cannot be hacked. however it's very expensive to hire very good programmers....
also, you have to hire permanently a programmer and a server admin. i don't think that a small-medium exchange service can afford a such thing
1524  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Attention ---------Bitcasino.io is rigged---------------Attention on: February 18, 2015, 12:26:28 AM
Newbie accounts are never taken seriously. To many other shills trying to discredit other in the hope to further their own interest. {They may be the competition}

Fact is... It's a FUN casino, with loads to offer and I have WON a lot of coins.

All casino's {Real & Online} rig their machines and games to enable a house edge.... So you not playing at a place, where everything is in your favor anyway.

Casino's are a business like any other, and they have to show a profit. If they "rig" their games for nobody to be able to WIN... they will go out of business... Now why would someone want to do that?

This guy just lost and now he wants to blame the casino. {Gambler regret}

very true what you are saying. the word "scam" is too much used and sometimes without any sense....
1525  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [WARNING] about BTC-flow on: February 17, 2015, 03:37:18 PM

it was like a HYIP so why do you have expectations?
1526  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Warning! bitcofree.com not paid. Don't waste your time. on: February 17, 2015, 03:35:49 PM
Just to add my note to this fauset - it is SCAM. He leaves his wallet empty for many times and simply when you press withdraw clears your balance and delivers nothing to your microwallet account. I lost around 30-40 000 in last 4-5 days.

DO NOT USE IT!

40,000 USD?

1530  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why did precursors to Bitcoin Fail? on: February 10, 2015, 10:13:53 PM
Well, those things weren't decentralized. ...

That's what I was going to say. There really are no precursors of bitcoin. The examples you gave were attempts to make traditional systems work in a digital environment. Bitcoin is a digital native, and when combined with the lack of central authority it is truly different. It is a revolutionary development in the evolution of money.

This implies that the technology itself was not that important but rather the implementation and momentum.

Makes Bitcoin seem more fad than revolution with that narrative. For me I would rather hear that Bitcoin implemented something in the algorithm that was truly unique and revolutionary that until that point represented a fatal flaw that would not allow the distributed momentum to ever take hold.
I would say that the protocol is brilliant, but does not include much revolutionary code. Except for perhaps the blockchain, It is more of a revolutionary system. As long as it is the fastest, safest, and cheapest way to send money it is not going anywhere.

the credit cards are the cheapest way and the "safest". BTC propaganda is spreading a lot of lies regarding to this thing. BTC is not free and not safe. a lot of hackings, a lot of problems. Smiley
1531  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Andreas Antonopoulos said Give Bitcoin Two Years on: February 10, 2015, 10:04:30 PM
there are only 1 MIL BTC users worldwide and up to 200K are using BTC daily . Smiley

BTC is a tinny system but with a lot of propaganda(many so called media websites and few "sharks:- directly interested in BTC- who pay for advertising in few big media groups)

1535  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: ************* SCAM ALERT https://coinsdouble.com/**************** on: February 10, 2015, 08:37:10 PM
and you would like something different? Only HYIPs offer such interest

without these HYIPs, BTC price will be under 20 USD Smiley
1536  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Cryptsy lock my account for no reason (180 BTC lost) on: February 10, 2015, 08:33:57 PM

I feel that this guy was lying. he is a newbie, and so i dont believe him to have 180BTC with him.
I feel that he just wanted to thug cryptsy by making false claims.

If that was true, I am sure we would have seen Cryptsy Comment on the thread on Reddit.
It was on the front page for a long time.

even if it wasnt true ,they would still need to issue a comment on it ,prefarably ASAP in their own interests .............

why someone would comment on Reddit or on any other forum?
1537  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Marcchernandez scammed me for $500.00 on: February 10, 2015, 08:33:04 PM
This guy deposited another fake check to my brand New BOA account worth $650 yesterday. My account is now in risk of closure. That's thousands of dollars worth of losses if I can't trade bitcoins through BOA. This is crazy.

He for some reason has Marites Cabling Hernandez on his closed Washington Mutual account. Is that his mother or his sister? She's now an accomplice to the crime. Hopefully putting all involved members in prison. I have all my docs ready. Going into speak to the detectives tom. Wish me luck!

This guy has committed mass fraud. It is only a matter of time before he goes to prison for quite a long time. Wire fraud, check fraud to name a couple. Easily 10+ years with the amount of counts and the loss of the crimes.

maybe he lives in Ecuador or Costa Rica not in USA Smiley

1540  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Rollin.io Scam on: February 10, 2015, 08:30:11 PM
i just got to know that rollin.io is a scam.
It doesnt show you prehashed server seed and so this means you cannot confirm your bet and so they have the ability to control your rolls.
This makes them not provably fair!
So i advice you all to stay away.

have you been scammed or is it only a supposition? Smiley
