Yeah I still believe in bitcoin, and I believe bitcoin in future will be number 1 digital currency. if only digital currency, just right now bitcoin is most populer and number 1 of digital currency bitcoin defeated paypal, pm, Payza, etc bitcoin users more than other digital currency Bitcoin has around of 2 mil active users. What are you talking about? Perfect Money has the same and it doesn't have the media and coverage that BTC has it. Paypal? LOL. It as around of 100 mil ACTIVE users. So, chill out with Bitcoin. It's not so big as you think. It's a niche e-currency mainly used by black market.

Confirmed, it was ddos.
DDOS? DDOS is for small websites not for those who said that "invested" millions of USD in their platform. It's a shame for these arrogants to have the website down because a kid ping them

You are so poor you surprised by these transactions. Even a regular Bitcoiner can have 1k BTC in their wallet. Not to mention cold storage of rich Bitcoin gambling services. You must be too late to the party. if it's "too late" then fuck Bitcoin...why would bother the new comers to "invest" if it's too late? other commodities like gold is expecting them. you can never be too late buying gold

no one can ' know , only time will give us the answers to this question . for sure $6,725,901,524.25 of market crap are not disappearing so easy
these are not real money. they are some numbers on a screen. do you really think that someone would pay you 1 billion cash(via bank wire) if would have this amount in Bitcoin? No exchanger will send you... even 300 mil USD Get real! the so called "capitalization" is a fiction. there is no cash to cover these money. there were not 6 billions IN so there cannot be 6 billions OUT. These numbers are from thin air on a computer screen.

Economy / Exchanges / Re: Cryptsy customers: Do you favor a buy out scenario?
|

I'm thinking 10 thousand bitcoins. So probably under 4 million dollars. If bitcoin tanks maybe cheaper. For a business that can probably make a couple million a year if it's taken over and run by someone who could do it right. For the right investor with a couple million bucks I think it could be a good buy.
Dude they ran the exchange into the ground with lies and deceit and in the process tarnished their brand name. Someone who had that amount of money would be better off starting a new exchange than buying Cryptsy. I wouldn't agree with your opinion. Their user database is pretty big. I remember talking with Horus 6-7 months ago. He told me they have more than 300.000 unique accounts. (That's e-mails, and other private information which are related to a niche) Since cryptocurrencies are still being traded today and people who own big amounts of BTC or some other "big" cryptocurrencies would see this as a good chance to jump into this business. If I personally had 10k BTC, I would consider buying their exchange, re-make it from scratch and start paying everyone who's lost money. It would be hard of course, but achievable. You forget one important aspect. Cryptsy is based in USA and you(as new owner) will need a financial license if you want to trade without the fear that someone may knock at your door one day. If you want to take a financial license in Florida(where Cryptsy is based), it will take up to one year and a LOT of money and tons of papers. So, any investor with half of brain will not put any money in Cryptsy. What do they offer? Yes, a database with customers(I doubt they have 300k) , a company and nothing more. Yes, they do offer a lot of problems you have to fix. You have to fix their platform too. That means a new one with a huge cost and so on. So, you would better put the money in bank than throw them away.

You can read that there have been big losses/ thefts in Bitcoin again from an exchange (can we ever have any real security in Crypto?) Then one of the core Devs resigned because bitcoin obviously has got some big hurdles to overcome before it dies. Well personally because of the 2 of these I am down 15 bitcoins to start today. I have sold everything now and I am contemplating knocking crypto on the head for sure. I have lost far more money that I put into it. the bitcoin priice is going to go down devaluing any remaining physical coins I have left. I am seriously annoyed by my stupidity to play with crypto so much. Its a massive shame and a blow for bitcoin today. I hope everyone gets a chance to sell their remaining coins for a decent price.
For me I am fulfilling my current orders on physical bitcoins and then we will see where to go from there.
I need a new business me thinks
losing 15 bitcoin is not small matter, and i know what you feel,as i know that these two problem have made some people losing their minds, crptsy become socond mt gog,and bitcoin price really down, and also mike hearn tell something almost true, but lets keep trong and trust to bitcoin,i believe we ca raise up there are many other high risk investments not only BTC. You can easily earn 15%-20% with a real investment company. Of course, you may lose too...it's the same as with BTC but you won't be robbed by a "smart ass" hipster called Mtgox or any other shitcoin exchanger and your "wallet" won't be hacked.

I was under the impression that the majority of BTC goes through the Chinese and they are the largest percentage of holders. Maybe it is possible that they have these kind of numbers rather than it being rigged? It seems whenever something goes on with China markets Bitcoin moves and moves quite a bit. I was assuming this is natural.
The volume of the Chinese exchange compared to the number of bitcoins within the exchange is too high, it indicates volume rigging. indeed. what's strange is that nobody is taking action against this thing. it's a clear way of market manipulation but the whole BTC media is keeping the mouth shut.

Sometimes it seems to me that trust based on time of operation is opposite in the BTC world opposed to other companies. Most companies people can say "They have been around a long time, we can probably trust them". But with Bitcoin it is the opposite. "Oh, they were around before Bitcoin got popular, we better use caution with them".
good point. it was the same with MTgox. I think the next one is Bitfinex or BTC-e.

Just thinking stupidly; Maybe Mike Hearn just sell his btc and try to speculate bitcoin market before halving. Maybe he secretly will buy as many btc as he can after the big btc depreciation. If halving occurs he could be bloody rich!.. S.F. scenario. he is "rich" because he worked a lot and he has money because he got a very good job.

it will ONLY happen what the big exchangers want. they make the FAKE "book orders" with their bots. they manipulate the market in their own interest. so, it will only happen what they want. this is nothing new. bots have been setting up fake orders since the beginning of bitcoin being tradable on exchanges. it could be done by the exchanges, but also by very large players with their high tier trading bots. the bots with the best algo will bring in the most money. traders with deep pockets hire the best people for creating these bots. and is this a normal thing? I mean, is it OK to hava fake volumes and nobody is saying a work. Otherwise, the BTC media is very vocalize with other things. This should be the "breaking news". All the Bitcoin exchangers have fake volumes.

The bitcoin bandwagon brigade has always preached how secure crypto is but it seems like every exchange has gotten hacked. Is securing crypto a pipe dream? Is this what the BTC experiment has taught us?
I have big doubts that Cryptsy has been hacked.Hacked in 2014 like thayare saying It next Mintpal or CryptoRush,Lets make easy money, create exchange and than cry My exchange has been hacked Exchanges are not regulated,it is still wild west Regulations means a lot of money invested in financial license and it's not worth. you need many employees, AML, KYC, audits, accounting, real office. it's very hard to make a such business in a legal way. And IF you do it, it's not worth because the revenue it's not big at all . the BTC market is 90% black market. the people who are using the black market doesn't want verification and other shits that a regulated exchanger must do. they want something like BTC-e(shady, no due diligence). If most of the exchangers would become regulated(with financial license), BTC will worth almost 0 because most of its users will use other e-currencies.

This is another fabricated drama to push the price of Bitcoin down by creating panic and the whale to accumulate once again at cheap prices and then after some weeks again let the things to become normal which help to increase the price and take good profit. There are not some other way to drive the price downwards without help of these dramas. All will be over once again like always.
And they're doing it perfectly. Nothing new,in everything there's always those big ones always find ways to manipulate things to make it beneficial to them like those whales in the bitcoin world. exchangers are manipulating the market. it's obvious.
