Got mine today. Pretty excited.
I had no problem setting it up except for the power supply. I bought a 600w Kentek PSU. The damn thing is busted. I'm using my Bitmain APW++ PSU temporarily.
Other than my PSU problems, the Apollo is awesome and I mean AWESOME! Love it!
The UI is top-notch. Very well made.

I do have one question though. The Apollo description on the Futurebit.io website stated that you only need one 6 pin PCIe connector. On that back of the Apollo, there are two 6 pin slots. Do I need a PSU with two connectors?

Thanks! That was for the pre-production version, so we decided to play it safe  on the production version since I'm sure someone will run this in turbo mode with a shitty low wire gauge ATX PSU on a single PCIE and burn out their cable.

A single connector for any PSU is fine in ECO mode, since its just pulling 100 watts. Anything above I would plug in two to be safe, and any literature going forward will specify two regardless.

For the seasoned folks you can run off just one cable even in turbo mode if you have one of those nice server PSUs with breakout board and 16 gauge wires.

Obviously with anything new be safe and make sure your feeling the PCIE connector and wire, slightly warm is fine but if its hot you need to plug in a second cable.

So after 16 city tour of usa my gear arrived.

As feared it is smashed.

box looks untouched with no marks.  but my unit must of had a ton of handling.

Scanned at every city it stopped in and a few cities had multiple scans

so it was moved, scanned  and handled 19 or 20 times.

Looks like I need both panels  as both are smashed.

Sigh...shipping you out new panels priority from here...I have them in stock in brooklyn so you should have them monday.

Its a combination of the factory over tightening the heatsink attachment screws and not enough padding in the box...either way both issues have been corrected but I'm sure there are more broken side panels since there was a bunch of units in the same truck going from Cali to east coast.

Just shoot me a PM with your order number and pictures if your units come damaged.

FYI the sub-assembly is built like a tank, so don't worry about functionality...just double check that the metal front case is not bent to the point that its touching anything on the PCBs on the back and you should be fine to start it up.

Order # 1209 was received at Portugal and two more Apollos are working.
The screws on the sides came without tightening but it was easy to tighten.
Only problem was having to pay an additional $ 95 for each at Customs  Sad !

95 each?? Isn’t import VAT ~17%? Should not be more than $50.
824  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FutureBit Project Apollo: Bringing ASIC Mining Back to the Home Miner! on: December 15, 2018, 12:39:27 AM
Order #1213.
Haven't received mine yet. Supposed to get it today but it didn't arrive.

Looks like all East coast shipments were on that same fedex truck that got delayed...you guys should have them by Monday.
825  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Official FutureBit Apollo LTC Image and Support thread on: December 14, 2018, 07:31:56 PM
so my wandering package is still doing that  wandering around PA Now.

A total of 13 cities so far!

Yea sorry about your shipment...not sure whats going on but ill call fedex and find out. Probably would have been faster to ship east coast shipments USPS Priority but I don't trust them with $300 packages.
826  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [CLOSED] FutureBit Apollo LTC Official Order Thread on: December 14, 2018, 12:00:37 AM
Happy to announce that all pre-orders have finally shipped!

We will be opening up orders soon for our in-stock units we have left over from Batch 1.

I have two and set them both up last night. I setup the first one and added to my wireless. Then I powered on and setup the second one and it gave me a struggle after I added to wireless. It seemed to me they stepped on each other because the first one quit mining. But its possible I screwed up because I was on NyQuil so I switched one back to wired and both hashing away. I'd like to change the dns name from local to local2 or something just to keep them straight on my network. How can I do that?

BTW, left them both set to default and hashing away at about 102HM. And I can't believe how easy the mining interface is to configure.

Best way to set up multiple right now is to just power one on a time, find its IP address set it up, power it down, power up the second one and repeat, then power on the first.

Either way the wifi is buggy right now, but there is no reason why they both should not work. Can you shoot me a screen shot of the Network info side panel for both machines when you get the chance?
829  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Official FutureBit Apollo LTC Image and Support thread on: December 13, 2018, 04:06:22 PM
mine has yet to arrive

I dont understand  why it came from CA and Not NY

it is due today fingers crossed

Because our factory is in California...at least it’s not coming from China Wink

Got the package. Looking awesome, just like the pictures!
Congrats on doing a really nice job with these, impressive production and great to see improvements to the entire process.
A real step up from the moonlander. Next up Mars?

Thats awesome to hear Smiley Im glad you guys are impressed with the final result as much as we are.

Now just collect those coins while the diff has been the lowest its been in over a year Wink
831  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FutureBit Project Apollo: Bringing ASIC Mining Back to the Home Miner! on: December 12, 2018, 10:28:51 PM
Got it today mining at 100M, having some problem with Wi-Fi option and failover seems to be the only option with multiple pools. More to assess though.

Which pools are you trying to use?

Wifi is very buggy right now, but should work with most b/g WPA2 networks.

Currently wifi will NOT work on open networks (i.e. needs a password), and you'll have mixed results if your router is in mixed mode etc
832  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Official FutureBit Apollo LTC Image and Support thread on: December 12, 2018, 06:41:46 PM
does anyone know the fan size in this miner. I want to get a noctua fan of the same size for increased silence

Fan is a 6k RPM PWM 92x38mm, but keep in mind all device programing is based on this fan...if the hardware monitor detects RPMs out of range it will auto-shutdown the miner. Fan monitoring is pretty lax, and you can probably get away with a 3-4k RPM fan but in that case it probably wont be able to cool past balanced mode (there is still a over temperature shutdown for that case if the fan can't keep up so you should still be fine).

I overbuild all my products for the worse case scenario, and the fan/heatsink has to be able to keep up in a wide range of temperatures/environments so while the fan is pretty quiet in eco I could have obviously gone quieter but sacrificed top end cooling ability.
833  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Official FutureBit Apollo LTC Image and Support thread on: December 11, 2018, 05:31:24 PM
this one :

Yea thats the same type of SDXC UHS card as the 64 I tested, so I guess anything past 64 wont work. If anyone else has other 128GB or larger cards they can test let me know.

Either way 64 is more than enough when we release the full node/lightning update.
834  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Official FutureBit Apollo LTC Image and Support thread on: December 11, 2018, 04:15:09 PM
just received mine  Smiley Smiley

i try to boot one with an 128gb sdcard it's not working, i burnt an old 16gb and it start

only one is working for the moment as i dont have a second small sdcard, its stable and not too noisy Smiley

Which 128GB SD card do you have?
835  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Official FutureBit Apollo LTC Image and Support thread on: December 11, 2018, 04:14:17 PM
FYI I have tested SD cards up to 32GB....it could be that 64 and 128GB are not supported by the MCU, but those are overkill for this anyway even if you want to run a full node (~25GB requirement).

Either way just ordered a 64 (10 bucks! can't believe SD prices these days), and will report on monday.
Did you ever test your card?  I have a 64GB card too so I hope it will work. Smiley

Yep, just got it in and loaded it up works great. Might be that 64GB is the cutoff (that or the type of SD card). This is the 64GB I tested:

836  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Official FutureBit Apollo LTC Image and Support thread on: December 11, 2018, 01:26:30 AM
My Apollos just received and properly hashing. 0 problems.

Both 240w at the wall... With a Seasonic 80 Gold Plus 450w PSU.

I was expecting about 110W each at the wall  Undecided.

Maybe new software versions improve comsumption  Smiley.

110 at the wall in eco will be for platinum rated psus (92+% effeciency). 120 sounds about right for gold which I think is 87%+ but depends on PSU and you factor in board variance of +\- 5% or so for silicon lottery.

You are right though there is room for improvement software wise and we were a bit conservative on the voltages.
837  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Rumor that Bitmain is going belly up! can't pay its chip builder! on: December 11, 2018, 12:35:08 AM
well isn't this the reason why people stop mining? when you have to pay more bills than what you earn in FIAT then it would make more sense to buy bitcoin directly, mining at break even is also a loss , since you are consuming a product that has a very  limited -life span ( both technically and economically) while you can just sell it and buy bitcoin instead.

anyone mining at a loss or break even could be categorized as one of these ( at least in my opinion)

1-They believe in BTC more than they believe in their wives, the are simply mining to satisfy a mysterious genius "Japanese" person's Vision(very RARE)
2- They want to get bitcoin without having to go through banks and KYC B.s  , aka a secret fund ( very a few)
3- They think the price of bitcoin will recover before they have to pay their bills or at least not before the point where they can't afford it ( not many )
4- some people are just stupid ! ( many )

Sure people called lots of things stupid when they couldn't understand the true nature and vision of what they playing with...definitely not calling them stupid now Wink

You can say holding on to the fundamentals of the technology naive all you want, but thats my creed and thats what I go by and why its worth the effort I put into this. Just like people put value on Bitcoin itself, there is more "value" to mining than the pure bitcoin you get out of it.

But alas you are right most people ARE stupid but not in the way you think. Its kind of the same reason why democracy is failing today because people dont find the incentive or profit to go "vote".
838  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Rumor that Bitmain is going belly up! can't pay its chip builder! on: December 10, 2018, 09:55:35 PM
For most of us, mining has ALWAYS been about profits.
The majority of miners (and probably the LARGE majority of us) can't AFFORD to mine if we're LOSING MONEY at it.

Your only "losing" money if your comparing it to fiat and mining on a large scale. The only case ill agree with you is when you can buy any crypto for less than its electricity cost

For me bear markets are the most fun, because as far as I'm concerned this is the MOST profitable time for me (i.e. I get to pick up more coins for the same equipment than a few months ago).

I could care less what greedy traders, manipulators, and fraudsters in the industry think the price is worth, all I care is that I have more bitcoins than yesterday.

Ill cherish the day when there are 10's of millions mining bitcoin on their 100 watt machines, and could care less what what it costs to mine since a single light bulb wont make a dent in their power bill, and this causes all centralized mining farms to go belly up.

THATS the true vision of Bitcoin, and anyone that disagrees does not get it.
839  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Rumor that Bitmain is going belly up! can't pay its chip builder! on: December 10, 2018, 08:26:12 PM
I'm pretty sure Bitcoin was not designed to be a charity case. If it were I presume the idea would've been binned instantly as hopelessly naive. It was always going to be ravaged if it requires good will. There isn't very much of that in the world, even more so when it comes to money.

It's about boxing and pointing self interest towards the benefit of something bigger. That requires profit and plenty of it.

Charity and a decentralized distribution system are not the same.

Part of Bitcoins current issue, and general adoption issue is that fact that the barrier of entry for new adopters is just too high, and nearly all new coins issued are going to a centralized cartel and dumped straight onto exchanges by a select few industrial miners.

You tell me what the Bitcoin ecosystem would look like if there were 10 or even 100 million home miners mining at 1TH/s each, instead of 10,000 farm miners each circle jerking each other and dumping their coins.

You'd have a true user base engaged at the base level, with a wide distribution of coins and a real market for real businesses to adopt the currency, and the price would reflect that.

My first unit arrived.

Mining away now, with 102.65 MH/s, Eco mode, fan on auto. Temperatures 65.5 for miner and 68.0 C for MCU.
