What operating system are you on? (Or, if it's not SatoshiDICE, a javascript bot can be made)
522  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Sick of surveillance on: June 26, 2013, 12:53:54 AM
Actually current encryption standards will be obsolete when quantum computers come out, everything is encrypted today is stored on an NSA hard drive somewhere waiting to be decrypted. The only way to fight it surveillance is stop using your fucking phones/email/forums/computers for private matters. It's very simple.

If you want to continue to use these things then new forms of encryption need to be developed to defeat quantum computers, and even then your communications are only encrypted until they are broken again.
Wrong. The one time pad has been proven to be mathematically secure.

Very disappointed in Daily Kos for publishing that. Sometimes they're actually rational  Cry

Re: Tails Distro

I've tried without success to get Bitmessage running on Tails. Tails is based on Debian Squeeze, which ships with a horribly outdated version of SSL. It also doesn't ship with gcc, make, etc (Huh), and after multiple hours of trying, I could not get a workable version of SSL installed. If you figure it out, please let me know.

For anyone looking for something other than AM to invest in, you might consider this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=242962.0

I am in no way affiliated with them, nor am I invested. I just think the market needs more than one place to put our money, and I'm glad to see something that might fit the bill.

Wish there were other Bitcoin related investments apart from mining and gambling.

The only other things you can invest in are "real world" companies like the gold exploration company and the rental service and the t-shirt company.

Why can't you invest in Bitpay, MT.Gox, Bitstamp, etc with BTC?
Because
1. They don't want or need your money
2. They don't want or need the hassle of one gazillion entitled investors
3. All of the Bitcoin "exchanges" are varying degrees of sketchy
4. They're high-profile enough to need to avoid legal bullshit
527  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: Need a $650 USD Loan For 6 Months on: June 25, 2013, 08:20:56 PM
My parents don't want me to get a job.
Now I don't get it any more.

First they want you to manage to get a loan, which is great.

But then they don't want you to get a job, which would provide the money you need... wtf?

Well they want me to get a loan because it will help me learn by being responsible. However, they believe that a job will take away from my school work and my ability to focus on school and as a result they don't want me to get a job. Make sense?
It sounds like it makes sense, but it doesn't. It's utter bollocks. Why lend to someone who doesn't even expect to have future income?
528  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Just-Dice.com : FREE BTC : Play or Invest : 1% House Edge : Banter++ on: June 24, 2013, 02:15:38 PM
Quote
Let's break it down: Suppose the house (the site investor) is currently playing with a 90 BTC bankroll and you invest 10 BTC. You will have 10% of the new 'current bankroll'. Each bet that a player makes is played against the current bankroll. As players win and lose, your investment grows or shrinks by 10% of the overall house profit. When you withdraw your investment you get 10% of the current bankroll.

Dooglus - I don't think this wording is what you mean; at least I hope it isn't.  If someone "invests" 100 BTC to take the bankroll up to 200 BTC, and I then withdraw, surely you don't mean I get 10% of 200, i.e. take 10 BTC of the new investor's money?

The wording needs cleaning up.
If someone doubles the bankroll, your percentage halves.
529  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How fast does the difficulty increase? on: June 23, 2013, 06:28:17 AM
It increases every two weeks right?
So how many thousand should it increase every two weeks?

That depends on how much computing power is put towards hashing. If a bunch of people stopped mining, the difficulty could actually go down. If no new hashing power is brought online, the difficulty will stay relatively constant.
530  Other / Meta / Re: Patrol? on: June 23, 2013, 06:26:52 AM
It seems to be mostly recent, Russian posts, but there are a few English posts in the Newbie board as well.

 Huh
531  Other / Meta / Patrol? on: June 23, 2013, 06:20:48 AM
(Yes, I did search the forum before asking)

Under profile settings there's an option to show the "Patrol" link. It works.

But what is the Patrol?
532  Economy / Services / Re: Hire a troll on: June 23, 2013, 06:17:32 AM
Have you noticed the OP is trolling ever so slightly in this thread? I think he looks pretty qualified.

Yes your obviously qualified for the Job

533  Economy / Services / Re: Free bitcoins (up to 0.15BTC/mo): Advertise these links in your sig! on: June 23, 2013, 06:07:48 AM
Two questions:
1. You've recently altered the OP. I hope rates for existing signatures haven't changed?
2. If I keep the signature in, will you pay for another month?

Thanks.
534  Economy / Lending / Re: Request: 0.5 BTC for 24-48 hours. on: June 23, 2013, 05:06:45 AM
Good job guys Smiley
I will do thousands of dollars in loans when given collateral. For me to take a loss here, winter would have to default and the shares would have to almost halve in price.
We do hundreds of thousands of dollars in loans when given collateral Smiley
Seems to give you more of an incentive to run, as well, huh?
535  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I want to redesign the Bitcoin.org website on: June 23, 2013, 04:28:49 AM
That's an impressive design Smiley
I'd just note that those buttons on the right side (Choose your wallet, etc) don't really work with the rest of the design. They seem kinda Windows 95-y.
536  Economy / Reputation / Re: Snowcrashed Reputation on: June 23, 2013, 04:16:27 AM
Snowcrash is a great guy, I've known him my whole life and he's never done me wrong.
Uh. Wrong sock?
537  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [ANNOUNCE] Bitmessage - P2P Messaging system based partially on Bitcoin on: June 23, 2013, 03:23:04 AM
I made some test and it looks like the creator of the pseudo-mailing-list must be online in order messages send to this address to be received by subscribers.

Why this is needed? Why messages cannot be received if the creator of the pseudo-mailing-list is offline?
Because a pseudo-mailing-list, unlike a chan, works almost exactly like a normal mailing-list: you send a message to the server, and then the server re-broadcasts your message to everybody.
538  Economy / Lending / Re: Request: 0.5 BTC for 24-48 hours. on: June 22, 2013, 04:55:26 PM
This is complete. No problems.
539  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Just-Dice : FREE BTC : Play or Invest on: June 22, 2013, 04:52:06 PM
Whooo! I won the hardest bet on the site: >99.9998!
If you could dig up the link, dooglus, that'd be great. I seem to have pushed it off the page.
