521  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast announces specs for new ASIC: 400GH/s on: May 10, 2014, 10:56:07 AM
Anyway. For full disclosure, since that I feel guilty every day I don't make this post:

After having tried to talk with them for months, I was able to finally do so exactly one week ago, during a two hours long Skype call. They offered me chips, they talked about their reasons for the delays (the fault is only of the board designer, the ASIC was right on time for October shipping, that was anyway anticipated only), about how having their cash locked in assets is delaying the shipments, how they spent new years eve writing checks to refund customers (that were cashed out in a measure that is way bigger than the $40k written by their lawyers), etc.

Nothing useful came out of that call or the subsequent emails. It was however certainly positive to finally hear their positions after almost a 6 months convenience shutdown and a 20x difficulty jump. (shutdown that again, was dictated by their lawyers, it wasn't a decision of theirs).

About the 2999 BTC address, Simon "investigated" it and discovered that it was used to pay a supplier of theirs. What's interesting about the 1 BTC outgoing transaction is that it ends up in a Bitstamp address. I'm not sure of the reason behind that, I've speculated since the beginning of it being a planned decision, however Bitstamp now has a name on that account. It will have to match the supplier's name.

I've asked them about making this post during the call and no objection was raised. They asked not to talk about some numbers, and I've left them out.  I support Minor Miner's odyssey and while I'm afraid it somehow won't happen, I would really love to see their books.  Lastly, I'm disgusted by the timing and content of their marketing campaign but I really appreciate them locking in into even more contradictory statements.

The SEC filling doesn't have his middle name on it. I'm guessing that it's probably not him.

The only thing Ciara does is assembling things, nothing else. PCBs are being made elsewhere and shipped to Ciara, that adds psu, cooling and a case.

No, you are completely right. However trying to detect scammer is slightly more complicated than that. If you click on the user profile, the informations are loaded using ajax, so you won't have to load another page. Registration date, posts, activity, all there. Also, the activity is used to generate custom user names (as in this forum). Use that as a first filter Smiley
I will try to make some additional informations appear under the avatar/userbit of the post, but I also want to keep it as clean as possible.

Yes, it's a rushed feature that is finished client side (extension side) but was never coded on my side. I need to fix that.

The number of posts is visible in home on the right sidebar, there is also a per-forum counter in the forum list.

Really interesting, thank you. I was completely wrong and i had no idea that "removing" from state court actually means "moving" to federal courts Smiley

Umm OK.  On this end of the internet your barrage of posts reads differently than it sounds in your head.
Maybe it sounds different in my head given how I can't stop condemning people doing business with scammers. Especially when those scammers are not only not showing any regret of any kind, but they are also continuing to do what they do best (scamming). Two oblivious examples are how they defined the plaintiff that obtained a TRO against them (they called him "plaintiff that never purchased", while the invoices are now public court records), or how it's since the 29th that they are not shipping because of a power outage at the fabrication plant.

So while my barrage of probably low quality posts could sounds differently in my head, I can't nor I won't to be sorry or care about that.

Scammers are gonna scam and people doing business with them can't be excused. It's as simple as that, really.

I feel like Don Quixote. I fought, i fight and i will keep fighting, independently from how useless it appears to be.

Edit, another one.

So the difference (that you quoted as relevant) between your board and the evo is that you use a 8-phase capable regulator (but you actually use 6), and that the EVO uses a 6 phases regulator, instead of mounting a 8 phase one for nothing. Right?

I don't hope you to fail, i don't think it to be possible. You are not in a risky investment. Maybe karma will fight back, yes.
532  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The Habanero Project - Third Party HF Mining Board on: May 02, 2014, 11:39:04 AM
I'm not trolling, it's a completely legitimate question. He claims that his board is different than the EVO because of a 8-phase regulator, while the shops lists a 6-phase one. So the shop (or the post) is wrong, i pointed it out so that he could correct it.

About HashCrap... I'm not getting into it if you don't mind, because that would be "trolling" and really derailing the thread.
533  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast announces specs for new ASIC: 400GH/s on: May 02, 2014, 11:08:41 AM
Any company that gets into bed with Hashfast for an easy buck is sacrificing their reputation.
Not if you already did it for BFL.

Do you remember who was the first user to receive their HF hardware? And their BFL? Because it matches. (no, i'm not talking about the poor developer, and yes, it's just causality)
534  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The Habanero Project - Third Party HF Mining Board on: May 02, 2014, 11:02:15 AM
The largest part of the board (the VRM) is based on an 8 phase capable TI digital controller chip compared the analog 4 phase chip used in the earlier HF boards or the 6 phase chip used in the new ones.

Four independent 6-phase Digital Voltage Regulators
Designed using a state-of-the-art Texas Instruments Digital voltage controller and best-in-class 60A-rated International Rectifier DrMOS outputs, the supply for each die has been designed and tested to output up to 300A. With very high efficiency in the normal operating range of 150-200A, they stay cool while still providing plenty of headroom for overclocking.

One of the two is wrong Smiley
535  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The Habanero Project - Third Party HF Mining Board on: May 01, 2014, 09:31:39 PM
Ok so what you wanted to say is that you are taking "settlement" chips from your customers directly instead of buying it from HashCrap.

It wasn't clear at all.
536  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The Habanero Project - Third Party HF Mining Board on: May 01, 2014, 09:20:22 PM
MrTeal, im sorry to see such a wonderful dev/progress thread derailed by some inconsiderate folk.
Thank you, much appreciated.
537  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The Habanero Project - Third Party HF Mining Board on: May 01, 2014, 09:16:23 PM
No, we're not buying wafers from HashFast.
So you are buying the asic. Yet you said that "Even the majority of the ASICs are not coming from HashFast".

That means that a part of the asic isn't coming from HashCrap. The most basic part of the asic that HashCrap can provide is the wafer. So something doesn't add up, please let me see it.

If what you wanted to say (as i read it, literally) is that part of the batch of ASICs (didn't think about the plural before) of HashCrap chips isn't coming from HashCrap, well, that's interesting.
538  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The Habanero Project - Third Party HF Mining Board on: May 01, 2014, 07:17:37 PM
Since you are not buying your chips from HashFast, you might be somewhat insulated if and when the court receiver comes knocking to ask for the chips/money back to repay HF creditors (un-refunded customers)?

There is no way he isn't buying at least the wafers from HashCrap.

Am I right on this, MrTeal?
539  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The Habanero Project - Third Party HF Mining Board on: May 01, 2014, 04:35:11 PM
Even the majority of the ASICs are not coming from HashFast.
What?

About the only thing you got right was that generally the performance and efficiency of the board will be about in line with the Evo board, although we will advertise it as such and not lie about the specs like VMC is.
I was expecting a similar reply and I appreciate being completely wrong.
540  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The Habanero Project - Third Party HF Mining Board on: May 01, 2014, 03:22:47 PM
"Habanero" is only taking the HashCrap ASIC and board design, separating a little bit the components on the board in order to have it visually different than the HashCrap reference design and selling it (as something different?).

I don't see how HashCrap isn't still completely in charge of everything related to this board.

Efficiency, hashing power and whatever will be exactly the same of the HashCrap board. HashCrap is also the only one with the ASIC, so they will set the price.

Cheers.
