so.. is solarion the only one to have 'received' this correspondence?
i'm confused at this. Can anyone else clarify that they have the same correspondence please?

thanks
It's like Google.
They are doing an AB test.

Group A with an email
Group B without email.

What is the group with the lower ratio of threats of legal actions?

I'm quite sure that their new head of marketing would be interested of hearing from you, Legend21.

It has been running just fine for a month now, and the server handled it perfectly until lately (last 3 days?), when the forum started lagging, but that's not related to a change on my side.

Given that i own a website that has in the order of millions (5-10) hits per day (of non cached and dynamic content, not of gifs), i would be happy to give a suggestion or two on the infrastructure behind bitcointalk.org.

I'm surprised to hear that it's used even from the staff. Smiley
I'm sorry for having complained, but I'm quite sure it was a manual ban.

I will just use it as an excuse to make the crawler smarter and able to detect when banned... It was in the todo anyway.

How frequently does it poll? Possible it was auto-blocked as DoS.
It depends on the number of posts, however a total of < 50k requests/day over 5 IPs.
All together, around one per 2 seconds.

If it was auto blocked as DoS it's one thing, if he just decided to block the competition while this forum is left dying with unloading images, server errors everywhere and a 10 years old board, well, i expected that, but i still have no words.

I just wanted to say thank you to theymos for having decided to ban our crawler twice during the last 12 hours.

Thank you, theymos.

We are already at 7 ASICs in one hour. Unknown $.

Clarification: whatever amount you propose to pay for the production of your board is approximative only.
We have to:

1) Reach a good number of ASICs
2) Contact HF/my lawyer to get the (licensed) schematics of the board along with the promise of the ASICs
3) Get a real figure for the production costs with the schematics of the board in hand
4) Collect the capital
5) Start the production

So they decided that they not only can sell your ASIC to a third party, but they can also delivery a product ordered after yours before yours.

I have a proposal.

I'm out of this game, but you guys with batch 2/3/4/upgrade/mpp should DEMAND THE ASICs from HF and build your own production line.

It's your only way out of those criminals.

PM me with how many ASICs HF owns you and what capital you would be able to invest in this production line if you are interested. I will keep the details of each user confidential and publish a grand total.

I hate to impose my opinion, but this is the only way out that doesn't involve a legal action against shell companies.

wonder if Hashfast is there?
I would guess that the expressions of the panelist would be interesting if Edward was there.

Hi, i coded Bitcointa.lk. Announcement thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=515932.0
I always hated how Bitcointalk.org was administrated (or how it was not administrated at all), so i woke up one day and decided to do something.

Short features list:
-Real time synch of every message
-Posts removed on Bitcointalk.org are marked as removed on Bitcointa.lk, but you can still read them; you can also see a history of deleted messages
-You can use it to post on Bitcointalk.org (i personally do it); it would become your gateway to access Bitcointalk.org

And naturally, i did it for free and i didn't spent a million dollar in the process.

Thank you, but i think the design to be fine for now. I'm working under the hood, if we grow enough to require a quality and custom design, it will be in the future.

I got inspired yesterday and i finished the history thing this morning...
3 example previews on imgur: http://imgur.com/wTvH0B6,HiKVu7M,A4DmNyD

I'm quite happy with the results. (i will release this feature in few days, i need to play with some permissions).

Requests on what to do next? (i have my plans, but maybe the community has better ideas)

Smiley

The cooling costs are usually included in the kW costs you have.
That being said, it's rare for a modern datacenter to have PUE > 1.1 (10% of power costs goes to cooling, lights, etc)
