861  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading sucks, I'll just hold my coins on: August 10, 2017, 01:51:56 PM
Trading is not for everyone especially if you do not have the discipline to control yourself or your emotion. It needs  a lot of time to learn and to have enough experience to make decent trades. As OP said, you can just hold your bitcoin if you are not fit for trading. It is the easiest way to grow the value of your bitcoin.
862  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think that in near future BTC would be connected with mobile number? on: August 10, 2017, 09:27:40 AM
We do not need that option. There is no added functionality if you connect bitcoin to a mobile number but risk security of the owner. If you can connect bitcoin to a mobile number, you can easily connect it to a face and criminals can easily attack owners of addresses with large amount of bitcoin.
863  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think Bitcoin will survive after 100 year ? on: August 09, 2017, 09:57:15 PM
I think it will as long as there are devs who continue to upgrade it for the need of the time and a strong community that supports it. I think no one among us now can live that long to witness it but I still strongly believe that bitcoin will be around for a long time.
864  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Segwit locked in on: August 09, 2017, 06:53:34 PM
It was expected but it is still good to hear that it is finally happening. I hope this segwit delivers what we are all expecting from it.
865  Economy / Speculation / Re: Segwit two week Grace Period, what volatile prices we expect to see during this? on: August 09, 2017, 05:20:57 PM
I still seeing a lot of noise about this one so I am guessing there will still be a price increase. But I do not think it will be a large swing. Maybe just a few hundreds more but the price will not exceed 4K.
866  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Bounty campaign - Lately waste of time and energy on: August 09, 2017, 03:05:50 PM
Some really good project pay more and the bounties are paid in ETH. It is the scammy projects that pay less and have all the problems that OP have mentioned. No one is forced to promote those ICO, it is your own choice to promote it and take the risk. Just make wiser choice and ignore the scammy ICOs.
867  Economy / Speculation / Re: Hold until its $10,000 on: August 09, 2017, 09:21:27 AM
Holding is a good idea. but between current price and 10k, there will be lots of ups and downs. It will be a waste if you don't grab those opportunities. Hold some, trade some. That will give you more bitcoin in the end.
868  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: This is the prob. most useless yet easiest coin to pump on: August 08, 2017, 09:48:30 PM
YOu could try but before you do, you should hype the coin first so that others will notice it. Then pump the coin and when others starts buying it too, then dump. I hope you have enough bitcoin to pump this coin.
869  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is skyrocketing on: August 08, 2017, 09:41:58 PM
Just for a few more days, there are lots of good news for bitcoin that is driving the price high. Maybe it will last a few more days before it starts sliding down because the price gets high too fast. If you hit maybe 40% profit, it is good to sell even if the price gets still higher. The price will slide some day and you can buy again.
870  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: $400 to invest, any recommendations? on: August 08, 2017, 06:28:50 PM
I say invest only on the top coins in the coinmarketcap. I think it is the safest list to choose from and put your money in. Waves is also getting a lot of hype lately, you can look into it. I have nem, it is a good coin too for long term investment.
871  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is it good idea to buy altcoins when they crash?? on: August 08, 2017, 05:59:55 PM
Maybe if the cause of the crash is because bitcoin is going too high. If the price of bitcoin levels again, the price of alts will go back up. So buying in the bottom is a good opportunity. But if the crash is because of devs dumping on you, then it is suicide to buy that alt.
872  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why buy altcoins or invest into ICOS if 99.9% are scams? on: August 08, 2017, 05:09:39 PM
Because some people still made money out of them. Even though it will go to scam at one point, there is a point where you can buy and sell and still make money out of it. Though this window is sometimes very small before the devs dump on you. It costs very little that you will not mind if it fails but very happy if it succeeds.
873  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I love and hate altcoins on: August 08, 2017, 01:49:06 PM
You can't really avoid that feeling. You'll love them when they pump and hate them when they dump. But I cannot deny that it is enjoyable speculating and exciting when your on the spot on your predictions.
874  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin: At Only $500 on: August 08, 2017, 01:29:30 PM
Well, first i would survey the current situation. Their are many factors that I have to take into account.
Why did it drop?
Is it going to continue to drop?
Is it going to go BACK up?
If it looks like BTC is on a downward hill with no coming back, then I will probably avoid buying this coin, and invest in others, however, if the reason for this was because of rumours/ speculation eg. New forks that WILL kill bitcoin, then i would gamble and buy it as i think there would be a good chance that BTC will rise again.

I do not think FUD and rumors have enough power to crash bitcoin to 500$. The only thing that will crash it to that level is when there is a major and irreparable flaw in its system. SO if it drops that low, there is no turning back.
875  Economy / Speculation / Re: thoughts on rally on the week on: August 07, 2017, 09:48:31 PM
Hi guys, what do you think of the rally for over the past week? our coin finally broke the 3000 threshold and it had a baby call BCC.

Do you think the rally will continue?

I think it will still continue to rally because there is still segwit activation that people are anticipating for price increase. There will still be buyers that will push the price up.
876  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy bitcoin on: August 07, 2017, 09:39:12 PM
search the same question you just asked ("is it good time to buy bitcoin now") and look at the dates and what bitcoin price was at each of those dates. and then come back and take a look at bitcoin price now. that should answer your question well enough.

we can't know the future but there is a very good chance that bitcoin will continue on this path upwards and will be worth a lot more in the future.

You are right and I think there already should be a sticky post on this one with price at each stages so that newbies will not have to ask this one. They will just look at the sticky post and see the answer. Just newbies are just too lazy to use the search button.
877  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why BTC price goes up dramatically? on: August 07, 2017, 09:27:26 PM
Dumping of bitcoin cash is one reason. It is free money and people are converting it to bitcoin thus pushing the price up. Another factor is the activation of segwit. People might be buying bitcoin in anticipation of the price increase due to segwit being activated. It is just good time to have bitcoin.
878  Economy / Economics / Re: Why Is Bitcoin's Value So Volatile? on: August 07, 2017, 09:07:19 PM
Maybe it can also be attributed to decentralized nature of bitcoin. Unlike in fiat, bitcoin does not have any central government that can control or pad the price so that it will not swing wildly. The price of bitcoin moves exactly how the market reacts to news or price manipulation by some whales. I think volatility is here to stay.
879  Economy / Economics / Re: Wasn't that good to use bitcoin as your lifetime asset? on: August 07, 2017, 05:31:23 PM
Bitcoin can be a good long term investment. Almost everyday you will see post saying buy and hold meaning the price today is not yet the most it can give. It can still grow more. But as an investment and retirement plan, I will not bank all of it on bitcoin. I will have other investments and plans for my retirement. Bitcoin is very risky and having a plan B is a good idea.
880  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin: At Only $500 on: August 07, 2017, 05:16:06 PM
In reality it is hard to fall back to 500$ because every time it sheds a thousand dollar, people will see it as a buy opportunity and will push the price back up. The only reason it will fall is if someone finds an irreparable flaw in the system. In which case, I will sell way above that price and secure profit. And will still buy if it falls beyond 500$ just in case it gets revived.
