We need to make this clear it's not a problem with Blackcoin. It's a problem of Coinrush.

It's creating short term negative publicity unfortunately.

I have full faith in BC never doubted the coin just I am not as techy as some of you here unfortunately.

Sure. I wasn't directing that towards you by the way  Smiley

Just basing it on seeing several topics on the front page ("shocking news about blackcoin" etc).

Stop dumping for the love of christ. Everytime we get past 7600 some idiot dumps back to 7400 rather than staggering their sell orders nicely for a smoother and more profitable exit. I cannot wait for the multipool to kick in again and burn these assholes out of their presumed profits.

That is natural price movement. Trust me, you don't want to go up too fast. BC has already gone up fast. It's much better off building a good support at the price. Every time we move sideways for a while at a certain price, and then explode upward, you can feel confident it's not going back below the price it started at (assuming long term trend is up, which it is for BC right now).

+1.

Slow and steady wins the race.

Based on the previous price movements I expect Blackcoin to be steady for a little while and then slowly trend upwards. When it creeps close to 9000 the buys will start flooding in. When we break 9500 it will be like a dam bursting and it will be another pump upwards.

Remember Catkiwi, Blackcoin climbed up from 1200 to 4500 with no multipool and that was recovering from an epic dump. Multipool gives us a nice boost and generates buzz, but even without it we are doing great.

Great day for Blackcoin and I'm glad the community is growing. Each pump brings more early adopters in. I feel sorry for people who don't learn about Blackcoin until we hit 30 million dollar market cap. We're the first 100% proof of stake coin based on Bitcoin. Good times ahead  Cheesy

This is the third time this pattern has repeated. If you're interested in the price pattern read below.

Pump from 600 to 1400 satoshis. This led to a massive dump back and took a while to recover from. It slowly climbed back up to 1500 and then...

Pump from 1500 to 4900 satoshis. This was an epic pump. The usual daily trading volume spiked up to 1400 BTC traded in a day. It was followed by a massive dump (people taking profit).

Since that last dump which occurred the weekend before last the price has slowly climbed back up from 1600 to 2500 to 3500 to 4500. When it broke 3500 confidence started regrowing very quickly. It hovered around the high 4000's for a while. When it smashed through 5000, I posted here saying this is a very significant sign (it's a very bullish indicator recovering from a dump to break the all time high price) and I predicted a frenzied pump like the last two times (proof here -  DO NOT POST SESC LINKS ).

We've now experienced the next pump from 4900 to 9000 satoshis

What is happening now is the next dumping phase. Effectively this is people cashing out there profits. I expect this to last for several days like the last few times. There's no proof of work mined coins being dumped on the market. The only mass coins being released are from people who bought low and who want to realise their profits. Eventually this will stop, and the buying pressure will cause further rises in price.

The market cap of this coin is still peanuts. We could easily triple in price from here. Easily. When I do finally start taking profits from this coin, it's going to be one of the rare coins where I only cash out half and keep the other half in. Because with a coin like this you just don't know what the ceiling is going to be for many weeks.

First mover advantage is huge. You think a newly released vertcoin clone is going to go up to vertcoin's market cap?

It doesn't work like that.

In the same way Mintcoin is trying to copy the blackcoin multipool concept but it's generated nowhere near the same level of hype. And Blackcoin also has a very active developer. He's not a cut and run developer out to make a quick buck.

Dumps are good for a strong coin like blackcoin, we need more people in blackcoin, if people want out let them out.

But that little dump <5000 was caused by someone who already has a large
stack and is simply panicking people into selling
. So the majority would not
have gone to new buyers but to the dumper and others riding the wave who
are looking to increase their stacks!

+2.

I lol'd at that obvious dump trying to induce panic sells. It worked last weekend but not this time.

Speaking of coin distribution, Blackcoin seems to be one of the better distributed coins looking at the richlist.

I mean looking at NXT or Doge (where 3 accounts hold 30% of the coins), Blackcoin looks in good shape. This is important because if there are a minority of accounts who hold a ridiculous amount of coins, the market is at their mercy when they decide to dump. We've seen this happening a lot in NXT.
1628  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BlackCoin (BC) | on exchanges | PoS | No premine on: March 23, 2014, 08:17:10 PM
As soon as we hit 6500 on MintPal people started dumping at ridiculous low prices. Now begins the race to the bottom...SMH

Yep, I'm glad they are dispossessed of their coins - into the hands of, hopefully, those also possessing a brain.

We've seen this before.

When price rises a bit too quickly, profit takers rush in and start dumping to realise their profit.

I expect 5000 to be the new floor now and by next weekend we will be testing 10000 Smiley
1629  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BlackCoin (BC) | on exchanges | PoS | No premine on: March 23, 2014, 08:04:38 PM
This coin is going to be over 10 million dollars market cap easy within a month.

It ticks every box.

Multipool isn't even out of beta yet either.

Best thing - no proof of work coins to be dumped on the market. The only coins that will ever get dumped are by profit takers and as we saw last weekend, Blackcoin will slowly recover and grow to new heights.
1630  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BlackCoin (BC) | on exchanges | PoS | No premine on: March 23, 2014, 06:31:30 PM
Blackcoin at an all time high price on Mintpal.

Breaking though that 5000 satoshi barrier is going to prove significant. Last time we stumbled at that point and then a panic dump occurred. Confidence regrew and the price has gradually rebuilt itself over the last week back up to 5000 and this time we smashed through it  Cheesy This is an extremely bullish indicator (recovering from a dump and then going onto new highs in price). We may now see a massive pump here as people get excited. I would prefer though to see more of this gradual smooth rise in price we have seen. Either way, long term I see only moons and rockets for this coin... especially with no mined coins getting dumped on the market every day.

Simple question: What makes blackcoin substantially and essentially diffferent from peercoin, novacoin and mintcoin?

Assuming this is a legitimate question and not a trolling attempt.

Peercoin and Novacoin are a hyrbid of proof of work and proof of stake. Blackcoin is proof of stake only making it more environmentally friendly.

Mintcoin is similar to Blackcoin except it's premined and the proof of stake rate of interest is 20% rather than Blackcoin's 1%. 20% interest rate is too high for various reasons discussed already.

It's more than technical specifications that make a coin though. Otherwise Litecoin would have the same market cap as Bitcoin. It's also community support and the quality of the dev team (blackcoin has a great one as demonstrated by the blackcoin multicoin concept being pioneered).

I am not troling. I am beeing a potential investors understanding his investments and asking questions for that purpose.
So... Smiley
Where does the POS code come from? I assume it is based on PPC?
There was a reason (security reasons) why PPC does not rely on POS completely and not that quick. Did Mintcion/Blackcoin overcome this?

I'm not a coin dev so can't answer that with authority. I read someone else say on here that the Blackcoin code is using a modified version of PPCoin's staking algorithm. However I don't know how accurate that statement is (he seemed to know what he was talking about but I lack the knowledge to verify it).

Sunny the PPC dev brilliant though he is has always been vague about PPC and it's security issues.

24 hour trading volume - 12 BTC on Mintpal.

I'm surprised that this topic has so much activity yet no-one is buying.

Another update.

Initial 24h timeframe was a bit too optimistic, we need more time to catch up.
While we're waiting for an answer from a few investors, we came up to another idea which could bring much more trust into the bitcoin community.

Long story short: an insurance company for Bitcoin-based services.

More will come soon, keep calm & carry on.

Thanks!
- erundook

You talk about this like it's a new idea. It's been done already (Elliptic Vault).

Backed by one of the worlds biggest insurers (lloyds of london).

And it run by non-anonymous individuals fronted by a legit company.

Where's the blockchain proof of the stolen funds?

Any idea why blackcoin stopped raising?
24 hours ago it was 3800, now it is 4600. Click the 24 hour graph on Mintpal now to see. Granted it's not a 100% increase but why would we want that, ideally we want smooth incremental growth which leads to minimal dump.

Plz go back to premined Mintcoin which has 12btc trading volume a day  Cheesy

In case you're interested, Adam B Levine has a nice little presentation about the Counterparty Wallet and issuing assets etc in the beginning of the video. Maybe there's something to learn.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2TbiixzRvW4#start=0:00;end=72:26;cycles=-1;autoreplay=false;showoptions=false

Let's discuss the abilities of XCP's AE.

I agree. We should learn from the competition. Improve upon their mistakes and enhance what they do well.
1637  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BlackCoin (BC) | on exchanges | PoS | No premine on: March 22, 2014, 09:53:56 PM
Blackcoin has highest market cap of any bitcoin based coin which is pure proof of stake. This is a big strength too.

I expect over the coming year the media to bring more and more attention to how much money is wasted mining bitcoin everyday (>$15 million of electricity).

Blackcoin is in a great position and is very undervalued at present. We should be over 10 million market cap easy. That's 7 times higher price. When you factor in we're not going to have proof of work mined coins being constantly dumped on the market every day, the sky is the limit for this coin imo providing we market it correctly and no technical glitches occur with pure proof of stake.

Coins which don't have new coins being dumped on the market tend to go high up in the market cap ranks once they are established (ripple, nxt, mastercoin etc)

Muffin has written a nice little summary of Blackcoin's strengths here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=521328.

It's on the main alt subforum not this one. I invite you to read what he's written and post your thoughts, it is good advertising for the coin.
1639  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Blackcoin and why it could be really big // Intro to Blackcoin on: March 19, 2014, 07:11:39 PM
Very nice write up MuffinMaster, sorry I missed this I would have posted sooner.

As time goes on it will become more apparent what a gem we have here with Blackcoin. 100% proof of stake means it's much more energy efficient than Bitcoin or Litecoin or in fact almost any other coin out there.

What has been a real bonus for me with this coin is we have an active developer who is spending his resources on clever ideas like the blackhole multipool.

Most importantly though - no premine and the coins were allocated through proof of work mining.
