Someone just dumped 50,000,000 ++

Now who would have 50,000,000 to dump?

Since you posted about it in real time, and are constantly spreading FUD.... I'm guessing it's you.

Ugh, no lol. I wish I had 50,000,000

Probably more likely part of the pre-mine.

Maybe. Or maybe it was someone cutting their losses and bailing. Up until that dump the total daily trading volume was like 9 BTC and it's been looking stale for a week now.

Most people have got their Mint tucked up in their wallets earning interest,no need to be on MintPal unless looking for a bit extra like me. We're all going Long on this one!

Good point. I didn't think of that. It could just be people dumping their 20% interest.

Maybe the dev could lower the rate of interest. 20% is pretty ridiculously high and people are just going to dump that onto the market as free profit everyday.

In other words, I hope we haven't pumped BC way past what the multipool can handle.

Let's not overstate the effect of the mulitpool on the price. It gives a nice little boost but the daily trading volume of Blackcoin is 500 to 1000 BTC.

In terms of price this coin by design is going to trend upwards so long as there is demand. The amount of coins in circulation is virtually fixed (1% inflation a year is nothing). Compared to Litecoin which has hundreds of thousands of dollars of new mined coins dumped on the market every day. Then factor in these selling points - 10 second transactions (proof of work coins like Worldcoin FORKED when they tried to go down to 30 seconds, no way they can handle 10 seconds so they stay safe at 60 secs), 100% pure of stake, strong community, no pre-mine etc.

When we get up to Litecoins price the only dumps we have to sustain are people taking profits. If you have followed the price of Blackcoin like I have there have been several "floors". Once a floor is established and enough people have dumped their cheaper bought coins for profit, the next upswing occurs  Wink. We saw this at 600 satoshis, 1500 satoshis, briefly at 3500 satoshis, 5000 satoshis approximately and if we stay in the 8000's  or higher by monday I will call the 8000's the new floor.

9500 is going to be a big barrier to break. Because the last few times we've been near it the price has dipped, sometimes a fair bit. But we observed this exact same behaviour at 5000 and when we finally broke 5000 for the first time the crowd went wild and we went on a pump up to 9000 very quickly (this is exactly as I predicted and I posted as such here). My only concern right now is the BTC uncertainty with china. A btc crash always sends shockwaves throughout the crypto community causing everything to drop. Conversely, seeing Blackcoin rise steadily in these market conditions is a very bullish indicator. These are very early days with Blackcoin and all my analysis points to big price rises ahead.

I've ended up writing a lot more than I expected but it's because I am a passionate supporter of this amazing coin and my confidence only grew as I saw what a skilled developer we have (even found a security flaw in Mintcoin).

There is lots of fear, uncertainty and doubt spread in this community by manipulators but people here are also smart enough to read between the lines and that is why we are seeing Blackcoin grow from strength to strength as other coins are struggling.

There are great times ahead, I urge everyone to be patient and reap the rewards. 6 months from now we will all be extremely happy.

I'm done!  Smiley

Lol check coinmarketcap and see all the coins above blackcoin.
Blackcoin will hit a dollar their is no doubt about that. Anyone disagrees?

Check nmc's history and ppc history. And add to that that Bitcoin and Litecoin are on a downward spiral but they will go back up. When they go back up ppc goes back up. And when that goes up.. Black coin will go up way more..

Both PPC and NMC had enormous amount of investment at the end of November along with a few other coins including QRK. Was it a benevolent benefactor to get people interested in alt coins like maybe the Winkelvoss twins?

There is not another coin, with the exception of DOGE, that has had this wild success. BlackCoin would require the same sort of support and exposure that DOGE had in order to get to $1.00. I've seen other coins such as MAX have some support but lagged later on and didn't even get close to $1.00.

It all depends on the BC community and the support we get in order for this coin to be $1.00. I hope it does. I will retire if it reaches that level.

Big difference between BC and those coins. Each of those coins a huge mount of newly mined coins are dumped onto the market that the buy orders have to support. This constantly puts downward pressure on prices.

Hundreds of thousands of dollars of newly mined litecoins are made every day and a good amount of those get dumped. Blackcoin doesn't have to worry about that.

It's this very same reason why NXT was able to jump in price so quickly with minimal buzz or exposure in the wider media. So long as there is demand and a community, a solid POS with a good dev and prospects is golden.
1568  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BlackCoin (BC) | on exchanges | PoS | No premine on: April 03, 2014, 08:19:24 PM
I tend to set high goals.  I think that this year will be explosive for cryptocurrency. I know $100 is high and may seem far fetched, but BTC to $1200 was far fetched to the people at that time. But it wasn't far fetched when they went to the bank.

I'd be pleased with $100, $50, $20, $15, or even a $1. All I've invested in crypto is money I wouldn't really miss. So any profit is gravy, or icing, or whatever metaphor you'd like.

All that said... Blackcoin to $100!!!

Yes, $1 would be huge. That would mean litecoin market cap. It's a whole different game now. Hard to compare it to BTC. But I'd sure like BC to take a chunk out of that $6 billion BTC market cap.
$4 would mean litecoin market cap.

the elite contains now only 20 members.

I thought you are going to say less than 20 members since 1 member can hold multiple wallet

Are any of the top 20 known in this topic?

haha headlines.. some people in the blackcoin community are pretty clever. I think that if there are any good writers among us who may want to consider creating a Mintcoin specific blog or "news site" it's actually a pretty good idea

Blackcoin to $100 !!!!

let''s do this!!
that wil make me a miljonair of more then 21 milj

Cool Smiley... Anyone with 10,000 or more coins @ $100 will become a millionaire! The funny thing is...it is not a unrealistic number.

Exactly. We just need to be patient and hold our nerve. This community is growing daily and I expect great things to happen in the next 4 weeks. A 500% increase in value in the next 2 months seems realistic. In fact that's being bearish.

Update on the potential security issues mentioned earlier.

As a cautionary measure and since MINT does not really need PoW, we have decided to get rid of the PoW. We don't want to take any security risk.
And since our ego is less important than your hard earned money, we won't have any problem to be thankful to another coin dev if it appears he has helped to increase MintCoin's security.

If it appears? What a joke.

Dishonest dev, dishonest community.

I actually wondered why they left POW in to begin with. Since the block reward is only 1 coin I can't imagine anyone doing POW??

That's just cos they didn't know what they were doing and thought it would bring enhanced protection of the blockchain (I guess a reasonable enough assumption if someone isn't familiar with code and just forked peercoin from github without understanding it). But it actually weakened the blockchain.

I think it's a smart move to follow Blackcoin's lead and copy the pure proof of stake approach.

Whether the Mintcoin knows how to handle a pure proof of stake coin, that is a separate matter. You'll see what I mean by that.
1575  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BlackCoin (BC) | on exchanges | PoS | No premine on: April 02, 2014, 07:43:47 PM
I've been reading about the issues with Mint, will that affect BC?

If you had a lot of BTC right now, what would you put it into?

Would you put a small amount into Mint or none, but all in BC?

The vulnerability the BC dev discovered only applies to MINT.
1576  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MINT]Mintcoin, Energy Saving Coin *24 Exchanges *37 Merchants on: April 02, 2014, 07:25:23 PM
The Blackcoin dev rat4 who is a talented individual has found an attack which applies to Mintcoin (due to it being pow/pos hybrid that has low difficulty for pow component).

Please read it here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=551861.0

Note the most recent posts where the attack has been executed guys.

Yes, do add to this:

We have tested the hypothesis we found and managed to succesfully stop PoS from being accepted for over one hour on the MintCoin blockchain.
Basicly this means anyone could turn MintCoin into a PoW-only coin for the foreseeable future and due to the low hashrate on the coin a 51% attack becomes really easy with all the known issues that that brings.

We have immediatly contacted the mintcoin devs, long before rat4 posted it in the topic quoted above. I am still waiting for a confirmation that they are fixing the issue at hand.

I'm investigating the issue. I'm not a dev of mintcoin, but I believe in this community and I try to address issues that I can fix in the code and send a patch to devs as much as I can. (Let it be network connection issues that troubled v1.0, or high CPU usage of v1.4, there were one or two more minor fixes I submitted, but I can't remember now:) )

I saw the devs responded to the issue here, but I don't know when they'll provide a fix (or if they believe there's a problem that need to be fixed -- or if there's really a problem). They usually prefer to do their development behind the scenes, and release their changes in a new version.

I'll investigate the issue anyway for my own curiosity. I would like to provide a patch, but it seems like a security issue in the core, so it's not one person's job to fix it. More eyes are needed to validate any changes to make sure the changes indeed fix the problem and don't introduce new flaws. (In fact not only validation, but also code/idea contributions would be needed).

I believe the devs are trying to understand the issue and fix it. Still, if enough people are interested, we may create a fork on github and try to create a patch there, which can later be merged into the main client codebase when it's ready. I would volunteer for creating a patch for this if there are enough people who will contribute -- by reviewing changes, committing changes, or discussing security issues. But it has to be a community effort, I won't dare to change core components by myself and then submit an unreviewed patch to the devs -- it would be risky.

So what are your thoughts? Anyone is interested in working on this?

PS: I haven't read entire https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=551861.0 yet; and I might have missed some posts here if anyone proposed a solution. I'm yet trying to digest the issue introduced in that topic and the blockchain explorer.

Nice post. The Mintcoin community is lucky to have you. You actually sound more knowledgeable than the MINT dev himself  Cheesy

However I think it's best that Soepkip and Rat4 leave this one to you guys to try and fix this mess. They've gotten mostly abuse for their work here. Talk about a thankless task.
1577  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MINT]Mintcoin, Energy Saving Coin *24 Exchanges *37 Merchants on: April 02, 2014, 07:22:30 PM
Just thought
If there is a bug, must it be the dev that fixes it?
Since its open source, couldnt just any one with the skills fix it?
Rat4 for example, who says there is an easy fix. He claims he only want to help mint, then why cant he just fix it? (if there are something to fix in the first place..)

Haha. Half of your community are bag holders in denial who won't even admit there is a problem so I am hoping Rat4 doesn't touch it. Especially after the rubbish he has had to put up with today.
mr_random why are you here, doing exactly what you just described: "such blatant FUD attempts." All the information about the situation that needs to be shared here has already been shared, you are doing nothing but trolling as usual.

You have always been a troll on this thread, nobody is going to listen to you no matter what you say. Leave the discussion to reputable and respectable members of the blackcoin community.

So far a new person reading this topic will see that 50% of the regular posters are actually liars if they read the last few pages and then check the blockchain explorer to see the attack in black and white.

I used to be a big MINT supporter, feel free to check my post history I was here in the early days.

The reason blackcoin is dropping is a few of them have a majority of all the coins and they had an agreement not to sell more than a certain amount but the thing is someone is selling alot more than they should be

They are dry, cant pump price anymore

Take a loot at the trades at mintpal, mostly 2, 10 and 20 BC ROUND orders.

They have like an hour trying to dump only 1 btc at 6490. Nobody is buying anymore.

They are stuck...
desperation bagholders, eh?  Cheesy

WTH is wrong with ppl in this thread? I cant believe that if a person finds a possibly big fault in your coin, he demonstrates the flaw, he gives mintcoin devs heads up and after no response posts it out to get the attention it needs you guys attack the person, the coin he has developed and try to make this into a FUD war???

This is not a community I would like to be part of

+1.

It's a shame people in the MINT community aren't smart enough to realise new people who might be interested in joining mintcoin are likely put off from joining when they see such blatant FUD attempts.

I would run a hundred miles in the opposite direction if I was new to MINT and read the last 5 pages in this topic  Cheesy
1580  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MINT]Mintcoin, Energy Saving Coin *24 Exchanges *37 Merchants on: April 02, 2014, 06:38:20 PM
I've just noticed something while going over the block chain.

First of all, the attack was really just from 203231 to 203405 before it started to be interrupted by even more PoS blocks:
http://mintcoin-explorer.info/chain/MintCoin?hi=203233&count=50
http://mintcoin-explorer.info/chain/MintCoin?hi=203433&count=50

Secondly, even within this period, there are still some PoS blocks that occur:
https://i.imgur.com/LydCerH.png

Most importantly of all. Through the ENTIRE attack period, not a single transaction was confirmed by one of the PoW blocks (aside from the PoW blocks producing their 1 MINT). The only transaction confirmations were done by the few PoS blocks which interrupted. How is this possible? There are way, way more PoW blocks, but none of them confirmed transactions over an entire hour? Is that because PoW blocks cannot confirm transaction during this "attack"? If so, then this "attack" cannot be used to double spend or do any real damage. Right?

So it's even worse than we thought. The entire network was frozen with no confirmations, and that was only carried out by the first stage of the attack.

Game over.
