This equalizer is going to be tough for the Senegal because now I am also feeling game is not into their control and Ivory Coast can do another upset with their performance is improved and things are also favorable for them, but now we are in extra time, and we have to wait for the 30 minutes with can any team do some magic, or we will be ended with penalties which will be decided about the winner of this match.

First half of this extra time ended, and we have no action look like things are indicating we will be going for the penalties, and then we will have our next quarter finalist from this match.

All things considered, Ivory Coast has been the better team and they deserve to win this game. Not many teams would be able to hold on like this the way Senegal has. This goes on to show how good this Senegalese team is.
The problem is Ivory Coast doesn't know how to penetrate Senegal's defense. Senegal defends in such a compact manner. They have been so good.

It's still 1-1 and I believe Ivory Coast would win this game. If it gets to a penalty shootout then it's more of luck. But there's also the fact that Mendy is terrible at penalties.

I can't ask Mane for more because he has given his all and he has been superb so far. His only error for me was not hitting the ball once on one occasion where he received the ball in front of goal. It has been a really interesting game and I believe there will be more coming.

Man was scared ASF immediately Vincent Aboubakar was brought into the game for Cameroon. It's by far one of the best games they've played in this Competition. I can mention few names and leave the rest, the entire squad worked hard for the results and they've earned it the right way. I'm impressed with em but more focus to the next. For now, they party, relax, recover and wait fir the next fixture.

It was indeed a great night to Look at the man that gave us them goals ( Ademola Lookman ) as he brilliantly makde good runs into the pass from Calvin Bassey.

Cameroon were reserving Vincent Aboubakar like he was their secret weapon, he was warming up in the sidelines like he was going to come in and change the tide of the game. I wasn’t scared one bit. The Super Eagles played with such intensity and confidence, I knew nothing could stop them. The much criticized Victor Osimhen was everywhere on the pitch. I have never seen a player with so much energy. I could see the tension in the Cameroon camp anytime Osimhen had the ball, they were all concerned about Osimhen and forgot about Lookman. Great game from the Super Eagles, Angola is next.

Actually I never saw this coming, the African cup of nations favourite knockout at the round of 16 by a team that have performed so badly like cote D'Ivoire is  very shocking, but as a typical Nigerian that I am, it's a thing of joy to us that out major threat are out of the competition, though their are still stronger team like Morocco and mali in the competition and the team i usually called the dack horse of the tournament which is Burkina Faso but all in all this year African cup of nations is truly an afcon to remembered.

This particular game shows that if Nigeria or any other good top African team that really want to go all the way in this competition, then they have to forget all the hype and work their way toward it, instead of believing in their hype.

this is one of those afcon that you can't really predict which team will go home with the trophy seeing big team's being kicked out of the tournament and teams that where doing poorly suddenly coming back to getting an impressive win in the tournament.

Truth is that it's an advantage for the Nigerian side seeing that most of the big threat in the tournament are gradually being kicked out and it seems as though they are one of the strongest team still in the tournament but if they allow that thought get into their head, then they are damn on there way back to Nigeria. One of the important factor that contributed to the super eagles defeating Cameroon is that they did not underrated the Cameroonian side at all and that was what gave them that fighting spirit from the start of the Match till the game came to a close.

For ivory coast, it's good to know that they have something to celebrate for because it would be a big disgrace that they couldn't qualify out of the group stage but seeing that they've secured another win in the round of sixteen would a great joy in their country. Of course this is football, don't be surprised that they can go into the finals even after their poor start in the tournament.

The game was very intriguing and unexpected at the same time. I had no idea Senegal would lose to Ivory Coast yesterday despite their strong performance in the AFCON. They led the Ivory Coast by one goal from the 4 minute of play and attempted to maintain their lead to the 86 minutes until Pepe's penalty kick.

However, Ivory Coast capitalized on the opportunity and equalized. Otherwise, Ivory Coast's performance was dismal. I hope Senegal's defense holds their position well. I don't think they could win them. As it stands, Ivory Coast has sent Senegal home, almost six clubs have out from the competition and remaining only three. I don’t like the lottery (penalty shootout), but I never regret that Senegal lost. Such a “rational” game is irritating, it’s not something you want to watch. Having scored an early goal, they simply gave up the initiative and began to wait for the end of the game (90 minutes before the end lol). Extremely strange behavior for a favorite. Moreover, they still had several moments to increase the score, but as I already said, such a game is annoying - at some moments their possession of the ball dropped to 35%. As a result, Cote DiVoire were able to win back, but Senegal no longer had time to rebuild and eventually lost in a penalty shootout. Fair enough in my opinion.

Just as I predicted, the second group matches were high-scoring, but the upper round matches were very poor in terms of goals.
Cape Verde defeated Mauritania 1-0 and advanced to the quarter-finals.

When i watch Mendy sometimes i just wonder if he actually played top level football because sometimes he acts as a goalkeeper with no experience. Senegal actually played well and had couple of good chances but Ivorian goalkeeper Fofana was able to prevent more goals that could have ended their qualification hopes. Member made some decent saves and also some silly mistakes, he conceded a cheap penalty in my opinion and also he is so bad at defending penalties. A goalkeeper at his level should know better that defending penalties is a mind game and not waiting for the player to kick the ball before diving.

He could have saved some penalties but i guess it’s the end of the road for the defending champions. Ivory Coast pull a good fight too to force extra time and end up winning the game from penalties.

The competition is still very open as there is no favorite team to win yet, Senegal looked like the favorite to win but got eliminated. It’s getting more and more interesting so let’s see the teams that make it to the Quarterfinals.

AFCON comes with surprising results these days. I never expected the Democratic Republic of the Congo to knock Egypt out yesterday because I expected Egypt to be very productive after going three matches without a win. They drew all their three group stage matches, and they also drew yesterday, and they are unlucky to be kicked out in a penalty. It was touching for them because they played without their main man, Mohammad Sallah. Even though Mohammad Elneny and other good players tried their best, they were kicked out in a penalty shootout.

This incidence they happened to Egypt should tell us that in this tournament, any thing can happen and believe me if they had told Egypt that the country that will remove them after their struggle to reach round of 16 will be at the hands of Dr Congo, I'm sure they would have laughed at it. This also shows that it's not a good idea to underrate any team and I'm saying this in respect to Nigeria's upcoming game to Angola on Friday. Egypt underestimated Dr Congo and they paid dearly for it, I just hope it's not the same for the Super eagles.
In another news, who would have believed that the Taranga lions of Senegal will kiss the AFCON goodbye in that matter and to the elephants of Ivory Coast no less? Really, I was blown out of my seat. I expected competition right from the bat and they didn't disappoint but I feel it's the fact that Senegal felt they had the three points in the bag that made them relax I just don't know, but all the same it was fun while it lasted. Yeah the countries most people feel will still remain in the competition are almost all gone, the likes of Cameron, Ghana, Senegal, Egypt and even ivory coast that are still remaining where very lucky to play at the round of sixteen as best losers, luckily they where able to win Senegal to qualify for the next stage, a situation most african football lovers didn't see coming. This outcome has really shaped the view's of a lot of people, as some countries cannot just relax and feel they are top of th world as other competitors are also in the game, not just being in the game, they are proving points and making a difference, a very good example is Cape Verde.
It shows that the remaining top tier football African football Nations like Burkina Faso, Morocco, Nigeria  etc are on their toes just so that they can maintain the status quo they've earned over time.

I don't think the promise Angola bank made to their team will change anything from Angola players if they fail to prepare well to meet Nigeria players because, super eagles of Nigeria are not weak team you can use money to force your players to perform better than them.

The two teams have met before and this game will prove how strong they are in this season but super eagles will be my favorite team which I know that they will use all their local tactics and international tactics to beat Angola 2:0 for the favour of Nigeria to move ahead to semi-final.

It was actually same feeling with me because I've known ivory coast to have a fairly great performance in African football, then in this year's AFCON I got some level of disappointment with their performance because they were little Below brilliance a d they struggled to get decent results enough to help them get pass group stage after which I taught their journey in the AFCON will end with them playing against Senegal who has maintained a considerable good performance since they are playing in the AFCON.

This have taught me that even the best team at some point can still not win the trophy in a tournament so looking down on any team may just be a mistake as you may be very wrong by judging them by their previous performance, they may have improved and gotten even better and beat a "big team".
