I think you've misread it, he said that they shouldn't ban guns. But yes, you're right about that. People who want to get guns will get them one way or another, banning guns can just lead to defenceless public people, unable to fight back if they get in situation where they could use a firearm.

If the law enforcement authorities are performing their duties quite well, then the people don't need to worry about their safety. But when the authorities are unable to prevent the crimes, then they should allow the civilians to own firearms.

I agree that people should own guns in their home. Why ? Sometimes, the authorities or the police can not protect you. That's the time when you need to have the gun most. If you have guns, you can defend your family against bad people and protect them from being harmed.

The decision as to who can own and carry a gun should be a local thing, based on the considerations of the people living in an area where the gun will be carried.

If everybody decided to not use guns, voluntarily, people would still die from other forms of violence, or from old age. Since, as you suggested, it is the nature of people to remain violent at times, let everyone have guns so that the peaceful people can protect themselves from the violent ones. And, so that the peaceful people will remain peaceful under threat of gun violence against them if they become violent with their guns for no reason.

Soldiers in formation use guns. They might be acting in public. But their use is private use, because they each control their gun.

Soldiers and police are simply government. They are people. Let everyone be his own Government because everyone is a "people" just like Government people are, and stop trying to rule others and take their freedom away.

Guys this grief to ordinary people. I understand that they do not feel protected. The authorities do not cope with the task. I do not know how can help here a permit for the weapon, but the man would be a little bit confident in yourself.
