Hopefully the lag doesn't cause lender to lose $. We'll find out soon.

Yeah, we got to wait it out and see... This is insane. Every trading site is lagging, bitstamp is selling Bitcoin at $80-90. Crazy times!

Bitfinex exchange has only gone down to $180ish, maybe why all the shorts didn't close.  I actually manged to grab some at BTC-E in the 140's and flip it here.

Still 700k USD and only 560 BTC lent out and actually it would be possible to still do quite some trading on Bitfinex internal (page seems responsive). MtGox currently has over 30 minutes lag - interesting day it seems!

Let's just hope my lent out dollars are still somehow worth something when the dust settles. Embarrassed

Two things don't look good./

1) The current exchange rate as an ask price $30 below the bid price

2) I put a small buy market order in on BTC and it isn't filling, been 5 minutes.

Hm, my USD are still all lent out...

Anyways, I saw an interesting project on Reddit mentioned, might be useful for Raphael to evaluate as well: http://lmax-exchange.github.io/disruptor/ --> open source trading engine that is said to handle 100k trades per second with 1 ms lag.

I'm not too worried, after all in a few hours the dust will settle, whoever cashed out buys back in at a profit and some people will enjoy a strong alcoholic beverage after all that stress. At least this time the forum here didn't break down!

i dont know how much the new about increasing margin requirements and leverage player a role on traders behaviour

So far we've been lucky in that the price seems to strongly recover after a crash.

As a lender, I'm worried about the case where the price doesn't recover.   Or there is a very weak bounce followed by a slow decrease.

In general - I'd urge bitfinex to heavily prioritize being able to make trades on other exchanges.  Until that is fixed, we don't need more features!

Well, the greed score whatever it might mean or however it is scaled is now over 100k. Not much more to add, but it sounds like a lot. There is quite some trading going on on bitfinex internal by the way. It seems like someone sold down to 150 or so, now there are again offers up to 180 USD. Looks like some cheap profits to me... Good luck to the traders and good night to me - let's see what tomorrow brings.

Other exchanges were down or lagging tonight too, getting goxxed seems to be not too exclusive after all. Hopefully the internal engine is good enough to handle the stress in the future too, so far this week alone I guess there was more than half a million USD deposited.

i always said if you think something will take x days or hour is likely to take 2 times more that that, i am for to add all the exchanges that we can and worth the time to develop the code to add them and are easy to move funds around

So uhm, it said that the interest is "paid out" every day at 0:00GMT, I think we are waay over that, but I don't see anything on my account to suggest I've earned anything after lending money.

1) the public trade history link appears to be broken for me
2) is there a way to move USD from Bitfinex directly to MtPox?
3) was all this caused by yet another DDoS attack on MtPox?

Our family was terrorized by Homeland Security.  Read all about it here:  http://www.jmwagner.com/ and http://www.burtw.com/  Any donations to help us recover from the $300,000 in legal fees and forced donations to the Federal Asset Forfeiture slush fund are greatly appreciated!

And should I expect that the earnings I get will be proportional to how much I get in a year?

Like if the interest rate is %500 per year, then for a day or less that would be a really smal percentage, right, or am I wrong and it depends on the profits of the borrower?

Unless I'm reading this wrong, prices went from 266 to 100 in few hour. Curious to see how this affects the lenders on this platform. Guess this is the test to see if this thing works or not.

Btw on the website there is a claim that they will stop losses to the lenders by using margin calls, but in comments here they don't appear as convincing.

Also curious what kind of leverage do borrowers get? Can they just borrow without limits? What are the leverage and margin limits for traders?

The explanation there is a bit hard to understand. I need the dumbed down version, that is all. I mean, I am lending money on your platform, the least you guys can do is answer my question. Sorry if this sounds arrogant, but I gotta know if it's worth it.

Not to mention I am new to trading, all the terms are not even known to me, even Trailing Stop and whatnot I had to read every single time I did a trade to make sure I didn't do anything wrong.

Dumbed down explanation: The interest is calculated on a day by day basis as follows: yearly interest rates / 365.
And it's paid at 00.00 GMT every day.

Have a good day
