Nice seeing NBA players out on the court again. I was surprised to see Russell Westbrook getting minutes with the Denver starters. I imagine that was more for the fans than preparation for the upcoming season. It won’t be long now. I think the Minnesota Timberwolves / New York Knicks trade will be the story of the season as we start things off.

I agree I'm still on the fence on this one.  Knicks had a glaring hole at the 5 which they filled but Ju is a beast at the 4 the timberwolves got a really good player and think it's a better fit than having KAT and Gobert out there.  Ju has the same bully game that edwards has and think that's going to be a solid 1-2 punch.  The key to it being successful for the Knicks is if one KAT can stay healthy but even bigger if OG can stay on the court otherwise the Knicks will have real issues at the 4

I think that Westbrook has already accepted this long time ago and that's why he's no longer negotiating with higher contracts. And whatever amount and contract that's given to him, he just agrees with it because his no longer on his prime and he's considered fortunate still in getting contracts even for a year or two.

Westbrook is on a mission to get his first championship, which is why he's joining a strong team for a higher chance. I wouldn’t say he's "fortunate" that teams still sign him, because even if he were to stop playing basketball, he'd be fine, he's earned an estimated $200 million in his NBA career by 2023. At 34 years old, he's only a year younger than Curry, so he's not exactly "old."

The hype around Westbrook mainly comes from his OKC days, where he called the shots and could easily rack up triple-doubles. But when he joined teams with other superstars and different systems, he had to adapt, which made it harder for him to put up those kinds of numbers. The key with Westbrook now is the energy and intensity he brings to the court, rather than his shooting, which has always been inconsistent, especially from long range.
I would say that getting his first title would be one of his priorities right now since he's on the Nuggets, but I believe his main priority is to just stay on the league and in order for that to happen, he will accept any role or any contract as long as he stays in the league. I wouldn't say too that he's fortunate that some teams sign him because I believe that he still have that passion to play and can contribute to the team he's playing with.

As much as I want to discuss about how he became popular during his OKC days, I would also like to say how he's career got ruined ever since he joined the Lakers. I mean we know that it all started when he joined there. I wouldn't say that it's Le-GM's fault, but he's one of them for me. It's just a bit unfortunate that after that, his value decreased significantly and now from an all-star that we used to see, he is now a role player for different teams. I hope that his stint with the Nuggets will be enough for him to redeem himself, and I mean he contributes more with his team.

TBH, he can be a starter for the Nuggets as their PG since they don't have any legit PG on the team. It's just that their bench is just too weak IMO.

I do not think that they are getting paid though in this media day, I mean it's the official NBA media day and so they will have to come, regardless if there is money involved or not. It's different when some sporting entities like ESPN will interview Jimmy with his new hair style, for sure they will have to pay him. Or even Jimmy appearing on the movie by Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, Bad Boys 2. But with this media days, it's a official photographers and maybe some fans had access to this players and with interviews. And then this photos goes to social media outlet. But I do not think that players are being paid here. And probably that's one reason as well for Butler to just stay normal in the photo shoot to not attract anything from him.
And yet... You can't say anything 100%. We don't know many pitfalls. Most likely, you are right about the official media day in the NBA. Yes, players should definitely show up for such an event and most likely it is not about money at all.

I still haven't watched the movie "Bad Boys II". I was going to, but somehow I haven't. I'll have to find time to see Jimmy in the movies.

He signed with a 2 year contract with the Nuggets, so definitely, he will stay at least for next year. So in that case, this season with the Nuggets could be a make or break for him so let's see.

As much as I want to discuss about how he became popular during his OKC days, I would also like to say how he's career got ruined ever since he joined the Lakers. he went with the Washington Wizards and the Rockets as well, and with the Wizards, I think he is still in his prime years and he put the Wizards in the playoffs again. However, it also started that he becomes injury prone. And then he decided to go and join the Lakers and maybe thinking that him and Lebron could blend and maybe who knows, to get his first title as Lebron won a ring with the Lakers in prior year or in the bubble. But it was very different Westbrook that he have seen, and not sure if we can blame that to the Lakers for ruining his career.

You don't have to worry about that movie, he ain't there and so is Messi. They just used both of those athletes for their movie promotion but they didn't act inside that movie.

There's a possibility that media day is part of their contract which is they will mandatory attend it. And if the NBA is also getting money from the console game NBA2k then they will make a profit from it. NBA2k mostly uses the photographs that were taken from media day so I am guessing they will have to pay for authority to use them.
Also, this is an important event that tells the NBA is near its tip-off so I guess to spare some time attending it will not affect their whole busy day.

Facts. I saw those commercials with Butler and Messi on Youtube, they were never meant to be in the movie. Also it's not Bad Boys 2 but it's actually the the 4th movie already, haha.

Today I watched the "highlights" of Bronny in his Lakers debut in the preseason and it went as expected. Lots of bricks and turnovers, but also 3 blocks which was not bad.
Body wise he looks like a NBA player imo but you can see how nervous he still is. If he loses this there might be a chance he can somehow pull this off I have a feeling. Never been a fan but it would be cool to see him overcome all these issues and actually make a name for himself, it's gonna be a loooong road though.

Lakers preseason opener: Bronny James narrowly avoids scoreless debut as Dalton Knecht steals show
https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/lakers-preseason-opener-bronny-james-narrowly-avoids-scoreless-debut-as-dalton-knecht-steals-show/
I don't know why these news articles are always looking at Bronny James. There are other things to write. I bet there will be another one after another Lakers game.
The internet has something to talk and bash again from the Lebron down to his son. He's got some good blocks for his very first game for this preseason and considering his height, I think that's one of Bronny's strength.

We have to accept that Westbrook is getting old. I think he will no longer try to be the star player of the team, he will work to be a good basketball player in the rotation. He can take the team's scoring lead when needed, but I think this team needed his assists. I think he showed a sufficient level of performance for the first game. The important thing is that he can continue this performance throughout the season. We will see how sufficient his condition is Smiley
I think that Westbrook has already accepted this long time ago and that's why he's no longer negotiating with higher contracts. And whatever amount and contract that's given to him, he just agrees with it because his no longer on his prime and he's considered fortunate still in getting contracts even for a year or two.

I don't think he has any thoughts of making money anymore. He is also aware of his own performance, it is important for every basketball player to play 1-2 more years before retirement. Basketball players who play with determination despite reaching retirement age are always more respected. In fact, he is at an age where he can play for 4-5 more years, but I don't think Russ can do that at all Smiley

He still chasing for the ring before retirement and there's still pride inside him that he can still play the game, in terms of contract, he's no longer after that long and expensive as he knows that he's no longer at his prime and it's a a good thing to have a team who'll still sign him and willing to allow him to play.

Let see his upcoming performances to his new team and how Denver will utilize him, he can still give decent numbers if he will get enough playing time.

Players in the NBA get a salary for doing a job. Part of that job is scheduled media appearances. They don’t get paid extra for being at media day, they get fined for not performing their job duties if they miss.

As for not seeing Bad Boys 2 yet, there’s no excuse. Number 4 just came out (I haven’t seen it yet, oops).

I know Russ takes a lot of heat from his shooting lately but the dude still has game in him.  One of the best rebounding guards we've seen in a long time.  As a knicks fan I certainly would like to see them finally get over the hump amd get that chip but if they don't I wouldn't be mad to see dude get his ring.  I respect his hustle, plays like they did in the 80s amd 90s, just hard all game.

This are professional players, so I will say that they still have thoughts of making money, no matter what, be it a veteran minimum of 1 year to say the least. This is what they love and so they are  going to squeeze every bit of it.

Because once they are out of the job, for sure they are going to missed the NBA games. How many players that we think right now that are still hoping that they will got a chance to play? So that will be same with Westbrook, as long as he can milk and that there are teams that are willing to still pay him, and pay him good, that will be his main motivation as this is a job for them.

With Mike Budenholzer taking over as the new head coach, the Phoenix Suns are at a turning point. They have built a strong roster with stars like Devin Booker, Bradley Beal and Kevin Durant. This season, Tyus Jones is expected to take on the task of calming the team down at point guard. However, the Suns financial structure limits their flexibility. On the other hand, the Los Angeles Lakers have a small advantage in terms of preparation for this game, because they played a preseason game against the Timberwolves and got rid of the sluggishness. Still, the team's main players usually don't get much playing time in these games, so it's hard for them to inspire confidence in terms of scoring.

The Lakers young talents, Austin Reaves and Dalton Knecht, stand out, while the Suns may be more serious in their efforts to establish a system with a new coach. As a result, the Phoenix Suns can take this game a bit more seriously. Even though I see the game completely in the middle, the Suns could benefit from the new coach trying new strategies. The Lakers also helped me pick Phoenix in this matchup with their performance against Minnesota.

---

He signed with a 2 year contract with the Nuggets, so definitely, he will stay at least for next year. So in that case, this season with the Nuggets could be a make or break for him so let's see.
I just hope that he will, and with the Nuggets lacking a true PG currently, I believe that he will get some playing time, might be even more than when he's on the Clippers. His passing skills for sure will be utilized here. It's good that they gave him 2 years so he will definitely stay... or will he? Cheesy I hope for the best for him, and hoping he could help the team win that 2nd title again.

---

he went with the Washington Wizards and the Rockets as well, and with the Wizards, I think he is still in his prime years and he put the Wizards in the playoffs again.
I completely forgot that he went to the Wizards because for me, his stint there isn't that impactful and significant for me although I remembered now that he carried that team to the playoffs at least. As for the Lakers ruining his career, I would say that the Lakers are partly to blame for this one aside from the injuries which is inevitable. When I mean the Lakers, it doesn't mean the whole management, but I'm pertaining to the Laker fans out there that are booing him here and there when he shoots an airball, or made bad decisions on the court.

We know how harsh Laker fans are, heck they don't even like Lebron playing on the Lakers. That's how harsh they are and it happened to Westbrook. Lots of criticisms, lots of bashes online, etc. They're one of the reasons as to why Westbrook's career ended up like this because that shattered his self-confidence.

That only means that he's very flexible and able to adopt depending on the roster of the team that he's in. I'm sad that he seemed to flock his career when he moved to other teams when he's on the prime together with KD and Harden when they're called the big 3. I think one of the flops of his careers is when he's moved to the Lakers.

We will see how determined he is because he hasn't got any ring yet. And Maslate is right about that, this seems to be the reason why he just keeps on jumping on teams that gives him contract whether it's not that big at all and hopefully, we get to see it on him with the Nuggets once again.

LeBron and son taking the court for the first time was a bit of a historical moment tonight. Not the greatest start for Bronny in his first two games but hopefully he gets a hot streak and puts up some numbers. I think they need to let Bronny play opening day to please LeBron and the fans and then send him down to the G league.

Yes, I have that sin ) Well, I haven't watched the movie yet. I kept putting it off until later. Oh well. I'll sort things out somehow and find time for it.

You surprised me a little. I didn't think before that players were required to attend media events. As for the fines, this is also a revelation for me. Until now, I assumed that it was all voluntary. How wrong I was about that. Thank you for the explanation.

Yeah, and so history is being made again by Lebron, playing along side with his son, although it is still pre-season and James looks very tired, huffing and puffing and so he has to ask JJ to get him out, perhaps he just played for the minutes to make history.

There is a lot of games in the regular games and assuming he will be given enough time to play, maybe there were games that he will put a good numbers and showing us if he is really that good or a bust. And then the Lakers sending him to G league to sharpen his skills more.

They should definitely consider putting him in the G League. Honestly, I don't see him contributing much to the team at this point. He had a chance to showcase his best during the preseason but went scoreless in 13 minutes of play. Sure, they’ve made history together, but that's where it ends. Bronny can’t be compared to his father, and that was clear from the start. Still, it’s great to see both of them share this journey.

It's expected since the day Lakers draft him, there's nothing special in terms of skills and talents just being lucky as his dad can easily influence those people behind the business,  I agree that after giving him his chance and still can't provide numbers,  Lakers can send him to gleague and try to push him to improve more, but it's business and Lakers will continue giving him minutes as LeBron do still have those fans who will support him and the franchise.

Bronny ain't seeing the NBA courts this year much.  Dude is undersized, shot under 70% from ft, under 40% from field and under 30% from 3.  At his size he will either need to be able to run a team or be a sharpshooter, something he is very far off from.  He will touch the court with daddy wouldn't make sense not to do that once.  But once the honeymoon is over he is getting sent directly to the g league so he can start seeing some professional ball.  Unless something changes he won't see the big leagues.
