Michael Porter Jr just secured his $200 Million + bag. I guess the Nuggets can stop making him sit the bench now. He’s an incredible talent and I’ve thought for a while now that the Nuggets were keeping his minutes down to secure a long term deal. Now that he’s signed for several years I expect the Nuggets are going to make a legitimate deep run into the playoffs this year if they can get and stay healthy.
They have 2-year great playoffs run and third from the best records in 2020 NBA season. So, I guess they're keeping their good roster and improve their chemistry and rotation. MPJ is a good addition to Nuggets' offensive power averaging 19ppg and above 40% 3pt fg. With his size he could actually be a good defender and a rebounder. $200m max contract is well deserved for this young talent. That's a great contract for a young player, he looks like a superstar of a team but I believe that the Nuggets management knows what they are doing. During the playoffs, his contribution was not consistent, hopefully he will feel the pressure to be better as he made the biggest contract of his life in the NBA. Give the kid some time, he might have been overwhelmed by the playoffs that's why he is inconsistent. Overall though, Porter Jr, has some nice performance and complimented Jokic. Maybe things he can improved is his defense, he is already a offensive player, and perhaps to become a complete talent now in the NBA, you need not only produce points but to be a good defender as that is the key to victory specially in a very close game.

He has to improve that too because he can't take for granted this big responsibility of him, he has the height and the physicality, so he just has to work harder and continue aiming for improvement every season. His 2nd season with the Nuggets had really improved, so probably that's their basis, and by the way, speaking of young, he is only 22 years old, so more seasons for him if he remains healthy and probably a bigger contract if he improves well. https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/p/portemi01.html9.3 PTS in 2019-2020 then jumped to 19 PTS last season, probably the injury of Murray gives him more playing time to show his talent.

Nuggets have shown their strength for 2 consecutive seasons and even proved a lot at the bubble defeating strong teams even when buried at 3-1 deficit. Jokic will always come out stronger than the previous season but he cannot do it all. Murray may come back but a win for a championship will still depend on how much improvement MPJ will have and so does Gordon. They must maintain the aggressiveness in both ends of the floor.

MPJ has got a huge structure of 2.08 meters. And as he is young, he has a lot of time ahead for him to improve. Already he has the height advantage, now if he can train hard and get his skills in the top tier level, he can be an asset for this team for the long term. Having stats like 19 points a game and 40% 3 points shooting is more than average and with that height, he can easily bag some rebounds and be a threat defensively.

We've already written off the Spurs but it seems coach Popovich is more excited than ever with his superstar-less squad this coming season https://www.nba.com/news/popovich-star-less-spurs-excited-for-future-new-challengeHe'll surely make a lot of experiments during the regular season and hope it will carry them to the playoffs. One thing I am looking forward is how fast they will run the court and his "signature" not so flashy plays. We’re not worried about stats, individual honors or anything like that. These guys are just gonna have a ball playing. It’s gonna be simple, simple, simple stuff. And at both ends of the court, we just want a lot of activity, a lot of pace and just play fast, hopefully smart along with that. But the pace should be really enjoyable to watch. These guys, they enjoy each other, and it’s exciting to me. Dark horse?

Yeah the kid if he could have played at Missouri would have probably been a top 3 pick. Denver landed some studs in jokic, Murray and MJP in the draft. I can't hate that contract. Lock up your top 3 or 4 then each year adjust role players based on weaknesses from the year before. Hopefully Murray can come back like before the injury. Loved watching the kids game

Somehow I think it's good to point them out as one and besides most are loving the underrated team that showing up and I think Spurs might be a good example for that if Pop will succeed in this. Still wanting that 2014 run and what they got in the world of basketball, I've never seen plays they played after that season, wish to relive the past, this is exhilarating to be honest.

Definitely an underrated big 3. I think their experience hurts them, but they’re getting more and more of that with each passing day. A shame that Murray missed out on the postseason last year, but he’ll be back and will get another shot at it. They’re an unusual bunch, but I think the sky is the limit, especially for Porter Jr.
Waiting for that guy to be called a star someday. He has the body, the shooting skills, the intellect, and the attitude to be one of the best in the league. One problem I can see that stops him from claiming that position is his confidence after the back injury. His season stats was so good until the playoffs came and he was like going thru labor while forcing to play the game. I bet this year it will be a better one, although Murray will be in the bench for quite some time before full recovery, Porter Jr. and Gordon can provide the help needed to be on safe seed until the playoffs. I want to see that confidence and aggressiveness between these two stars (Gordon and Porter jr) after that new contract, These two good assets should perform well now, with good and established confidence playing alongside with the Joker. They both have the experienced to excel. Both have that offensive capability with Jamal, who mostly carrying the ball and setting up their plays. he has now more options, moving the ball with rotating players that have a high percentage more likely an easier job for him and Rivers.

Between Murray- MPJ - Gordon - Jokic they have 4 great players that can play together for a very long time. I believe that they are done building the team and from now on they are just looking for ring chasers at this point. Look at Lakers and Nets, they got so many old but very good players, do you think those players went there because they liked playing there, or liked the rosters, or liked the staff they are not there because they like stuff, they went there because they want a ring and they want to be in a team with a good chance to win a ring. Denver has the chance to convince players that could go there, it will definitely be possible to get players who will think Nuggets has that chance and rest of the team is settled already so I doubt they would have trouble being a contending team.

Exactly. When reading about Big three. I was thinking this exactly. Nuggets have big four. Aaron Gordon played only 35 games last year in Denver. Players need some time to adapt to play on their best level.

He has flashes of excitement but his game is tough to play around. He should lock up the defense, rebounding and alley oop role. Any other time with the ball isn't a plus for the team.

I don't know maybe I'm looking at it wrong but to me his skillet is better suited for a half court slow it down grind it out team where this Denver team has a nice flow to it. Just seems like the odd man out to me.

The coming season is vital to determine if he really suits ot the team, and if he made some big contribution, then they will be a championship this season though we have the Lakers and the Nets who are obviously the heavy favorites.

I personally think that he is way overpaid. He doesn't actually add that much outside shooting (he is a good shooter, not a great one), and hasn't really shown enough here and now for me to be comfortable paying him a $200M contract at least. But hey, this could be one of these gambles that pays off tremendously. Who knows.

He’s come back healthy and picked up his development where he left off. I think his talent is one of the best in the NBA and if he can stay healthy I think he’s a future hall of famer. This year he’s going to prove it. Media day got me pumped. The six Lakers hall of famers taking photos together has me excited for preseason to kick off!

Of course, Pop can do any experiments because the upcoming season may be the last in his career. However, I doubt that the Spurs will be able to reach the playoffs because there is a lot of strong competition in the Western Conference. It will be enough if the Spurs just win at least 26 games during the regular season, then Popovich will become the best coach with the most wins in NBA history.

Players need some time to adapt to play on their best level. I'm not a huge Gordon fan, and honestly don't know how he fits in there. Their team will run around Jamal, joker and mjp. He has flashes of excitement but his game is tough to play around. He should lock up the defense, rebounding and alley oop role. Any other time with the ball isn't a plus for the team. MPJ has shown flashes of potential for sure, that's undeniable. But is he worth the money that he's getting? Absolutely fat no. I think that perhaps $100M over 4 years would be considered overpaid, even. I'd only be comfortable paying him around $20M per year for his productivity on the court.

I'm optimistic he will fit with the Nuggets because he got a contract extension and with the action of the Nuggets, they believe that Gordon will be able to deliver, and for sure they will not waste the talent of Gordon which does not only do well in offense but most especially to their defense. I mean I get why Denver did it but that doesn't mean he will fit in with the team. Plenty of people have gotten big long contracts from teams and it didn't work. I don't know maybe I'm looking at it wrong but to me his skillet is better suited for a half court slow it down grind it out team where this Denver team has a nice flow to it. Just seems like the odd man out to me. I guess the first season he played with the Nuggets though not complete would already give him a lesson on how to be effective on his rule. The coming season is vital to determine if he really suits ot the team, and if he made some big contribution, then they will be a championship this season though we have the Lakers and the Nets who are obviously the heavy favorites. I wouldn't call them the heavy favorites although most do. The Lakers are so old the end of the season they will be either gassed or with some sort of injury. And meshing so many players together. I don't know seems they are set up to fail. And the Bucks have something to say about the Nets. One of them will be injured or away from the team for something.

Is there any news out there now that starters will not play? Since it was a Pre-Season opening, I think starters will play but for just limited minutes as always. Since it's the Lakers and Nets, if things got heated up and the game is close, I'm sure they will take the game seriously as they are pumped. Hope even for limited minutes, both teams will unleash their superstars. A 15 to 20 minutes playing time for their superstars should be ok. wow, I'm sorry, I expressed myself wrong. I meant in the sense that both the Lakers and Nets are not going to put in their main squad for this game, for example the allstar players are probably not going to play the entire game, they're probably going to play a few minutes and they're going to put in the reserves to play as well. I think it's not very plausible to put the best players under this "pressure", because it's still the beginning of the season and they have a good way to go during this NBA season.
