Gambling is a problem only for those people who can't control themselves at all. I mean all of us can't fully 100% control ourselves but gambling addicts can't do it at all. And that's a shame being such a person. I know what I'm talking about because I was once a gamblong addict. I didn't lose a lot of money, but I lost a lot of time for sure. Now I'm gambling not more than 15-20 minutes with not more than $1-$2 per day and I'm pretty ok. )

Find a better way to make yourself busy and make that your new hobby instead (Even if happens to need some expenditures too like play online games, something the same, literally anything) or in short get a life and spend your time like normal people do. Fall in love and you'll be more than busy to even have a extra time to go gamble either online or in real life.

Well, to stop doing something you're addicted to requires good will power at first, then you should start adding some measures to give you less time/money to gamble.
for example, if you spend much time on gambling with low amounts, every time you feel like gambling go buy a book with the money you intended to gamble with and read it in your gambling time, it's not easy to push your self into those things so it'll be great help you get a family member / friend to help you, if you gamble in real then you can start by walking to the casino, and when you pass by a person in need (no idea what those called around the world) give them some of the money you want to gamble or buy them food/drinks/clothes depending on what they need (don't pass on, give every single one of them), you'll be left with less money to gamble when you reach the casino so it's less time to spend there, with time increase the money you give to people and you'll reach the casino with no money, do it for like...5~6 weeks and you should be able to stop.
as for online gaming, I can only advice you to spend the money on some useful stuff instead of gambling (you can buy books with btc), some rise funding for charities accept bitcoins (heard of them, but never seen personally).

So in short, don't leave money with you to gamble(use the gambling money on useful stuff, or donations to people), just don't try to stop immediately unless you have iron will, depending on how many hours you spend gambling you might want to start lowering the time over the next 1~2 months, then stop (but keep spending the money on the previous mentioned stuff) for another 2~3 months so you won't get tempted to gamble, after that you should be safe to start saving money again, if you came back to gambling extend the stop period. this way you'll stop gambling and will help other people at same time.

Something i suggest to everyone is just swap to poker instead and get for lessons or watch some video training and actually try to make money.  You still then get the thrill of the gamble but you aren't in danger of losing money very easy if you play decent and follow correct bankroll management.

I don't think you can quit gambling for good.You can make break for short period of time after what you have lost some good amount but once you have some money you will definitely try to recover.The proof is you are still in gambling section and asking suggestion.

It really comes down to if you want to stop gambling or if you dont. Naturally ones ability to fight of urges comes to play also giving an edge to people who are not so easily addicted. Just tell yourself that you will only keep loosing if you keep playing and remind yourself of the mistakes you have made every time you want to start playing again. Keep on bringing up all the negative and at some point you will understand it is not worth it if you really dont want to.

OP, there's a saying in the rooms of AA that "one is too many, a thousand is never enough".  And it applies to gambling as well.  If you're to the point where you're asking how to quit for good, then stop placing bets all together.  Don't visit casinos and stay away from the gambling section of bitcointalk.  Just stay away.  If that requires help then get it, but if you keep testing the waters then you're going to keep having the same problems.

I don't one need to go for forest to avoid gambling habits. One just need to sell of all there bitcoins and find some good out door activities to spend with family members or friends should be good enough to come out of this habit. If they don't use computer for some time, should be more easy to forget gambling faster.
