Verstappen reported on the board radio that his DRS did not open. I do notice that he still won the race after that. He seemed extremely frustrated in his battle with Russell. Good that the team brought him in then, he won the race there. Next weekend we will continue racing and the enthusiasts won't have to wait long. Verstappen is in a very good flow now by the way.

Good recovery by Mercedes with the not so legal car

Why do you think the Mercedes is not legal? I haven't heard or noticed... If the Mercedes wasn't legal, wouldn't the other teams have already objected?

I only heard that Mercedes has improved the porposing on the straight and is now only a bit present in the corners.

I've not heard it either, and coinlocket$ had to explain it to me a few pages ago. I'm not convinced it's illegal, and AFAIK no-one has complained... if the source is Sky Italy, maybe it's just some wishful thinking on the part of Ferrari?

I've not seen any suggestion that Mercedes have broken the rules, what is the illegal (or grey area) thing that they're doing?

it is difficult to explain without going into the technical but in a nutshell, they have started using flaps where no one is using them to push the air behind the front wheels and greatly reduce the friction of the wheels.
Depending on Sky Italy, they were able to do so because they "interpreted" the regulation in their own way so that the other teams will soon appeal or copy it if considered regular.

Merc do seem to have improved their porpoising, yes. I ran a Google trend search, and the porposing does seem much reduced recently.
Seriously though, yes, they've made progress addressing this fundamental issue, and now believe they can proceed to unlock some of the potential of what everyone thinks is a fast car.

The other teams have not objected so far mainly Redbull and Ferrari which are the leaders as they don't see a threat from Mercedes yet.If Mercedes goes on with the changes which are at the edge of being legal at best and starts winning races you will immediately see objections from Ferrari and Redbull.So far both of them are winning races and are not concerned much with what Mercedes is doing but once Mercedes starts getting in the way because of such upgrades,I am sure we will see at least some objections.

Unless Mercedes has last years Brazil type of change where they are good enough to come from 20th to be the first, then we are not going to see anything challenging from them. It's clear that they "may" win a race or two, and I believe that George will have a win before Hamilton, but it's still not enough to get them to top spot.

Red Bull is soooo far off everyone else that Mercedes would have to have multiple 1-2 finishes to catch them and I am not seeing that at all. Hopefully it will be a season where Ferrari and Red Bull fights, and Red Bull will win but Charles would try to do what Max did last year and win the drivers even though the team loses.

The FIM, IRTA and Dorna Sports are obliged to announce changes to the 2022 FIM MotoGP™ World Championship calendar.

Homologation works at the KymiRing, together with the risks caused by the ongoing geopolitical situation in the region, have sadly obliged the cancellation of the Finnish Grand Prix in 2022. The current circumstances have created delays and put the ongoing work at the new circuit at risk. All parties have therefore agreed that the track’s debut must be postponed to 2023, when MotoGP™ looks forward to returning to Finland for the first time in four decades.

The final 2022 FIM MotoGP™ World Championship calendar is therefore expected to comprise 20 rounds.

Red Bull is soooo far off everyone else that Mercedes would have to have multiple 1-2 finishes to catch them and I am not seeing that at all. Hopefully it will be a season where Ferrari and Red Bull fights, and Red Bull will win but Charles would try to do what Max did last year and win the drivers even though the team loses.

It would get quite interesting though if Mercedes improved so they were fighting with RB, and Ferrari also improved slightly so they were on a par with RB rather than just behind. That could mean that on certain tracks Merc and Ferrari take the top four spots, with Verstappen only fifth (10 points), with the team's designated junior driver Perez in sixth. If Mercedes improve quickly, we still have much of a long season ahead of us, Hamilton or Russell could conceivably close the gap at 15 points a time. Highly unlikely, but possible if Merc do manage to improve significantly on top of their latest improvement, and do so within the next few races.

What about the prediction of MotoGP which will be held this week, precisely at Mugello, Italy?
Because if you look at the statistical data that already exists, including last year, Yamaha holds the record for the most victories at Mugello, Italy, even though it is clear that the Mugello circuit is the home of the Ducati manufacturer, which is also not too far from Mugello.

We all hope that Mercedes continues to bring upgrades to the car on top of the existing one as they did last year when in the second half of the Championship they were in another planet,I doubt they will make such a comeback during this season but I sure hope they do bring upgrade after upgrade until they fight to win races and we have three teams contending the race which would be very beautiful for the fans and also for the gamblers as the odds would be higher for all the drivers to win the race.

I'm very happy for everyone involved, Vinales and A. Espargaro have signed with Aprilia until the end of 2024.

Aprilia has become competitive in recent years, and Vinales is getting better and better with the bike, A. Espargaro has already proven that he and Aprilia can win.

Compared to a few months ago, Mercedes is moving in the right direction. At the beginning of the season it was nothing at all. It's still not great, but it's on the rise. They won't be able to compete for the world championship this year, maybe the constructors' title at most. But Hamilton is not satisfied with that of course. I don't think Russell is driving any worse than Hamilton at the moment.

It is really great to have another race in F1 after only one week. And it is the famous Monaco GP also. Maybe it can be really boring because of not being able watch so many overtakes in a race. But I still enjoy watching street races like this. And I think the Monaco GP is the most special one among those. This is the home Grand Prix for Charles Leclerc at the same time too. On the other hand, he has been really unlucky in the Monaco GP for some time. I hope that he can manage to finish the race this time. If he does, he can be the winner most probably.

I'm very happy for everyone involved, Vinales and A. Espargaro have signed with Aprilia until the end of 2024.

It's a very great job of course and for now I see there are many teams in MotoGP who have not finished their contracts with their riders, such as Yamaha with Quartararo, Repsol Honda with Pol Espargaro, Ducati with Jack Miller, KTM with Miguel Oliveira and also three teams other independent companies such as Pramac Racing, Gresini Racing and LCR Honda.

Aprilia has become competitive in recent years, and Vinales is getting better and better with the bike, A. Espargaro has already proven that he and Aprilia can win.

I'm also very happy to see Aprilia can be competitive this season so that it can enliven the front row during the Race and the Aprilia riders themselves also often struggle to get on the podium so Aprilia becomes a bike that will be reckoned with by other opponents in the future.

More than exciting for me.I am going to bet on some outsider to win the race with huge odds if rain happens for real in Monaco,with such narrow streets the Safety Car is a sure thing during sunny weather so I imagine with rain it can be much more present and this can of course change the course of the race.I will bet for example for Russell to win the race or Hamilton or even a McLaren driver,on this track the car doesn't matter that much as the max speed will be near 300 km/h at maximum so the rain can make the race extremely fun to watch.

It seems Ferrari and RBR are on another level again on this track, to be honest, I'm expecting a Ferrari dominance for this week.

^  I won't say that until I see at least FP3.  I feel like Verstappen is sand bagging seeing how he's just behind the LEC, SAI, PER after FP2.  He'll prolly show his real pace starting FP3 and really start winning the laps.  And if we do, quali will be veeery interasding.     I won't be totally surprised.

As said this is should be a Ferrari track, where the traction on low-speed turns is the key.

They can go lower tomorrow, with 70% of rain on Sunday.

This year the new cars are quite stiff, heavy and cumbersome in the corners. The new generation vehicles challenged the pilots in Monaco training. Mercedes drivers were disturbed by this event. Because new vehicles are closer to the ground and this increases the jump. Teams can solve the ripple problem by improving their suspension system. More technical work needs to be done on new vehicles.

Charles Leclerc had two great practice sessions today. He led both of them and improved his best time in the FP2 also. Sainz and Perez followed him right behind in both sessions but I still can't trust Sainz for this race also. Because he has been making very simple mistakes for some races and I don't know why he has lost his focus this easy. It happened even right after extending his contract for two more years. Ferrari really need him to race at a higher level to fight for the constructors championship.
