Didnt realize that. Well, not sure if doubling would be fair, I dont think every fpga owner will double his investment. The above will more likely result in mini rig buyers getting shafted big time.

I said this from the start and everyone posted saying I was SPECULATING and was basically full of shit, when I used the Old Item + cash for trade-ups....NOT simply 2x old items for a single new item trade in WITHOUT any cash being involved....

That is why I posted that bullshit thread full of nothing but sarcasm, after I got tired of arguing with everyone about BASIC BUSINESS PRACTICES....

It still boggles me how many IDIOTS thought that simply trading in 2 current mini-rigs would get them a shiny new ASIC mini-rig WITH NO MONEY involved.

Jesus Christ.

I had people posting everything from "Maybe BFL want to make their customers happy" to "Sure it makes sense, trade in $30k of old equipment straight across for new equipment...just like IT says, 100% trade-in value"....

I am not happy to see some undeserving people get the shaft and have to double their initial investments to stay competitive or to protect their investments, but I am more than happy to see alot of people SHUT UP about it finally.

...and I will continue to beat that dead horse, as it makes me smile.

I suppose if they didn't want to do the trade-in, they could mine with them until the ASICs are released, and then sell them used for less than their trade-in value to someone who wanted to buy an ASIC for a bit less and didn't have anything to trade-in.

It's not fun (or cheap) shipping big heavy boxes around, though, especially if the customer is not in the US.

I've heard they don't allow cancellations on the Mini-Rig orders (just what's been posted around here, though, nothing official).  It's just the Singles they'll allow you to cancel if they don't ship within their guaranteed time.

if u pay via paypal or bank transfer u can cancel anytime (to my knowledge just tell pp or your bank to get the money back)Smiley

if you never received the item, you'll win that case every time on getting it reversed.

"its been 75 days n still no item!... "

heard enough....

reversed."

if paypal wont, just call fraud at your bank n they will get that for you.

This is why i posted over a week ago that this BFL ASIC thing is going to kill everyone. Yes, ASIC's are good for bitcoin, but they have to be implemented properly as it looks like they have come to market too quickly and cause a double leap. This is NOT CPU to GPU, this is GPU to ASIC, since they have come to market before FPGA's have had any chance to be implemented and mature.

The ASIUC is a different beast because once it is programmed, there is NO secondary market. High initial development cost, then extremely low production cost. Considering that mining is based on difficulty, this causes a HUGE monetary conflict.

Jesus this has been so ridiculous to see people not understand this and fall on half truths and past bullshit to frame their retorts.

THIS IS A NEW BEAST AND IS UNLIKE ANYTHING THAT HAS EVER HIT MINING BEFORE.

It requires a new type of analysis in order to preserve any sense of decentralization in mining.

If miners actually gave a shit about bitcoin they would all stop buying BFL's bullshit and tell them to screw.

Let's all get behind a legit openASIC program and do this OURSELVES in the right way.

Let everyone in the community have a chance to invest on the front end and distribute the mining appliances evenly so people can assess their prospective investment properly and only have to speculate on how much the coins might be worth. Rather than wondering if they will be left in the dust in the blink of an eye.

Get behind companies like enterpoint, nzhang, modminer quad, ztek, and the rest who have shown professionalism and consistency.

Face it. BFL have fucked over the entire community without even releasing their new ASIC product.

All it took was an announcement to cause enough FEAR to crash the top Security prices on the GLBSE, the mad PANIC SELL-OFF of Bitforce Singles (over 50 for sale currently that I saw in the marketplace here) and the fight over their VAGUE terms of trade-in....not to mention the MEGA-TROLL against their competition.

THEY HAVE EVERY CURRENT CUSTOMER BY THE BALLS.

Those of you who have paid them your money have been hooked, line'd and SUNK....LOL....as in Hook, Line and Sinker.

They left their trade-up program details JUST VAGUE enough to keep the new orders rollin' in...but I wonder how those new orders will proceed after today or even last night ?

They were forced to reveal info that they DIDN'T want YOU to know and that was the fact that regardless of what BFL product you have, you will still have to PAY for your upgrade, FOR EACH ITEM. No trading in '2 old units' straight across for 1 shiny new one etc.

They want your money and NOW you have NO CHOICE but to keep giving it to them if you own a current generation piece of BFL hardware.

Why so grim ?

Why so serious ?

( insert picture of joker with knife and bloody lips here )

BFL is a good company. What should they have done instead ?

Currently a single is worth around $300 with the trade in thing.

If they did no tradein then it would be worth what ? I bet lower than $300. How many have paid the singles off is the question ...

id say the singles are worth 600, there is no premium now that everyones waiting in line for asic's & trade-ins...

and that 600 is 50% down on your asic upgrade.

so they are still worth their $600 bfl price, as they will honer that price they were sold.

Get em, and Wait in line for trade-ins next tax season though... it's my guess they favor the pre-orders and new customer's first, let that die down then do trade-ins...

Yes but anybody that is paying $600 for a single right now will be able to recuperate the costs before reward halving and ASIC coming ( Dec 2012 ) ?

No, but they will be able to get a $600 credit towards new equipment.

Yeah but $600 CREDIT for equipment ( that can come in 4-6 weeks Cheesy ) is not = $300 cash right now in my bank account.

Just like MtGox USD does not equal USD already in my bank or how cellphone credit does not equal currency in Africa.

That's your personal valuation of such a credit, and you are entitled to it.

I would not buy a single imo....

I garuntee they dont push out thousands of trade-in's before selling the bulk of their Pre-Orders first to Generate initial income...

or they will be at a loss, (50% of what they would earn at that time compared to Full Pre-Order sales, lol)

It makes no difference to them as they are taking all the money upfront.

It makes a difference,

Either they get $3000 from me or $1500 + 2 singles from someone else

I think they will put priority on full–paying customers: higher cashflow

I think the idea is that by the time they actually have product ready to ship, they've had everyone's money for months anyway. It's not like they have to choose between getting $30000 or $15000 + a MiniRig, they already have $45000 in the bank and they can deliver whenever they feel like.
