Hello all. (most) Can someone explain what the fuss is about the testing period? 1.Were coins produced by a small group? 2.How many coins, if so? Thanks. BTW I have memberberry and stewieg on ignore so i won't see what they post. I'm not interested in their trolling I have bought some of this coin and I think it has amazing potential. I'm not going to be upset if a number were produced to test things out. That really doesn't matter to me, but could someone just explain what the fuss is about. Thanks

According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in
Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it
will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

For the record I would like to state that I stayed up late (past 24hour long day) to help get the HEAT chain back on track yesterday.
If you have been paying attention, HEAT has been forking and looping and at first it is most vulnerable to such things. The safest way to get a new fork solid is to generate enough blocks so other nodes will recognize it as the right chain. To do that an account with enough stake is needed.
A free for all start to forging could well have created another mess and that would hurt HEAT quite a bit in my opinion. At this point stable block generation is the primary thing that needs to be achieved.
Did SuperNET unfairly get a few thousand HEAT due to it having enough stake to be able to forge the new path? Maybe if there werent these technical issues like there needing to be a stable chain, I could agree with that. Even though that is not the case, I will just burn the rewards during the bootstrap period if that will make the trolling stop.
Cheers James. For the non-technical amongst us, is the HEAT chain good to go now? So far, it looks good, but until we start seeing a lot of the problem transactions (I think the asset exchange ones caused the most problems) and a few more days of solid running, it is too early to say it is stable. What everybody can do to help is start using HEAT as much as possible. Do crazy things, make lots of transactions. push it till it breaks, or doesnt mainnet ALWAYS finds something you cant in a testnet as the real world has real people doing real things that is impossible to predict So HEAT is certainly good enough to be using and everybody should use it, and I dont think anybody has lost any funds due to HEAT blockchain issues, but of course be careful and dont do anything silly. Crazy is good, silly isnt

There is no need to burn HEAT gained from exclusive forging when it can be donated, to grow the nodes network or to something else.

I say just keep it. A stable chain will benefit every HEAT holder more than the few forging rewards we missed. There is no need to burn HEAT gained from exclusive forging when it can be donated, to grow the nodes network or to something else.
That could also be a nice idea. It would be nice if we had a faucet or something, as people can buy HEAT on the exchange without owning HEAT.

Sure, give me a good place to donate to and I will as I always do I run a service rewarding nodes for NXT and since recently for HEAT. The HEAT account has been empty most of the time https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1543991.msg17661697#msg17661697

jl777's and Supernet assistance as the highest HEAT stakeholder and major forger have been indispensable in clearing up the early phases of the network. Any "priviliged" forging for a few hours that's technically required from one or a few large forgers to keep the network in order, needs to be limited in attendance otherwise it misses the purpose of stabilizing a fork and harms the project's progress by scattering the blockchain to numerous instances. Bold theoretical principles of equality and fairness can be speculated but unfortunately there's no middle ground there for any practical purposes. Testnet testing and ample preparation time for sizable maneuvers are impossible due to time restricted circumstances. If required, I'll personally cover the costs of any such rewards being re-distributed to the stakeholders or community when appropriate. Why not wait a few days before making v 0.9.1 available for the community, than you can get much more heat, devs...
Well, at least someone values the coin. Or maybe they are just completely incompetent.
I really need to know. Were there a privileged few who got early access to forge alone on the main chain for several hours? Not cool if true.
Anyone knows who "supernet" is? The "who" doesn't matter. It's the "how" that does. - Developer creates a private 0.9.4 release
- Developer gives this release to a few buddies (7 nodes other than heatwallet.com by my count prior to public release)
- Developer and buddies create a fork and gain all rewards for several hours on their fucked up 0.9.4 chain
- Nobody else can join that chain because software is not available
- 0.9.4 is finally made public and forces everyone to the fucked up chain
This is not acceptable. One of the most important jobs of a blockchain developer is to maintain fairness in blockchain rewards. This is non-negotiable, and any blockchain developer that disagrees needs to find a new line of work. For a developer to create a fork for him and his buddies and then force it as the main chain is totally messed up. This belongs on a discarded testnet chain. Don't do it again. Looks like they followed my 'advice' LOL such a shitcoin, glad I am out.

The whole c-cex affair is just plain embarrassing... I think it is showing both c-cex and the heat team in a very unfavorable light so far. Get that shit sorted out and over with already! Please remember how important it is to openly communicate with your community about important subjects and this is important.

I'm not asking you or anyone else to cover the costs of this episode. Or burn, or donate, etc. I'm asking you to do better in the future. This approach to new releases is abysmal. Perhaps the circumstances dictated this procedure for now, but you must come up with a better procedure and tools. "Bold theoretical principles of equality and fairness". What a sloppy statement. You know people don't take kindly to ninja-mining in this space, right? Nothing theoretical about it, the PoS system performs quite well at choosing a forger by lottery.

Calculated in accordance to all my deposit/withdraw/trading history and currently pending orders.

As stated earlier, order cancellations that were submitted before a single confirmation has come in for the original order, were unfortunately revoked (rolled back) by necessity in the fixing of invalid transactions. Any cases needing clarification are best to be handled by contacting support at heatledger dot com, thanks.
